While conversing with Shuher, Evenel noticed Davian approaching and greeted him warmly first.

“Good morning, Davian.”

“……Good morning.”

After a brief silence, a response came from Davian. He then glanced at Shuher, who was with her, and asked,

“But why are you two together…”

Feeling a bit flustered to see Evenel in Shuher’s company, Davian had been excitedly on his way to meet him after receiving his summons. Not catching on to his confusion, Evenel cheerfully responded,

“His Majesty has something to say to me.”

“Really? I was summoned by His Majesty as well.”

Upon hearing Davian’s response, Evenel’s gaze also shifted toward Shuher, as if to confirm the truth of the matter.

Yet, even with two pairs of eyes focused intently on him, Shuher remained unfazed.

“Both of you have something to hear from me, so please leave now.”

Although she didn’t understand the reason, Evenel followed Shuher, who was walking ahead. Left standing bewildered for a moment, Davian also hurriedly followed them.

“Do you know why His Majesty has summoned us?”

“I have no idea. He wouldn’t answer no matter how much I asked.”

Unable to contain his curiosity, Davian glanced at Shuher, who was walking significantly ahead of them, and finally asked. Otherwise, it would continue to bother him.

“But you were with His Majesty earlier.”

To her eyes, the conversation between the two looked quite natural. In fact, it seemed so commonplace that she hesitated for a moment to approach them.

“Oh, His Majesty mentioned it during breakfast. He said to come to his office. So, we both left the palace together.”

“Breakfast together? This early?”

“I’m currently staying at His Majesty’s palace. So, occasionally, if the timing is right, we have breakfast together.”

Since she first shared a meal with Shuher, Evenel found herself sharing such times more often. Quite naturally.

However, the revelation drastically darkened Davian’s expression. He hadn’t even considered the possibility that Evenel might be staying at Shuher’s palace. He assumed she would be residing in another palace, like himself.

“I had no idea. But why am I in another palace…”

Noticing Davian’s suddenly gloomy face, Evenel quickly added,

“I think our situations are different. His Majesty probably prefers to keep me within sight. Shall we say, for monitoring purposes?”
She didn’t want to give rise to any unnecessary misunderstandings with her, the female protagonist. There was absolutely no intent to interfere or sabotage between the two.

At that moment, a line Aran passionately spoke came to mind.

[“Endings are never good for a villainess who harasses the female lead and interferes with the male lead. It’s always death. Though, from a reader’s point of view, it’s satisfying.”]

Seeing that Shuher spoke affectionately, it seemed he had taken a liking to her since their first meeting, so Evenel did not want to create any tension with Davian by any means.

She had narrowly escaped the fate of an extra doomed to die; she certainly didn’t need to be misunderstood as a villainess.

“Ah, I see. You’re a person of Aodin.”

Davian’s face instantly brightened at her explanation. Relieved by his easily accepting demeanor, Evenel quickly changed the subject.

“You look good in the clothes you’re wearing today. It’s good to see your wounds are mostly healed.”

As if to prove the meticulous care he’d received in the palace, Davian’s complexion had noticeably improved. His eyes, which had lost their vitality, regained their original sparkle, and his expression brightened. His overall appearance emanated a lively atmosphere.

“The maids have been treating me well. But you’re wearing training clothes again today?”

“Yes. I train every day, so this attire is actually more comfortable.”

‘So Briss was right.’

Unlike herself, who was treated properly, Evenel’s circumstances seemed to be less than ideal.

Davian assumed that because of such reasons, the noble lady Evenel wore training clothes instead of something more glamorous and luxurious. He decided to play along, so as not to make her feel awkward.

“It suits you well, Evenel.”

There was a hint of pity in her eyes as she looked at Evenel.

Soon after, the two arrived at Shuher’s office and sat on the sofa, waiting for him to speak. What could be so important that he had to call both of them at the same time?

Without any delay, Shuher went straight to the point.

“I’ve called you both today to discuss matters concerning Davian.”

Evenel found it odd why she was also called in for a matter related to Davian. Conversely, Davian felt a little tense.

“Now that your wounds are mostly healed, it would be good to prepare for what’s ahead.”

“Do you mean facing the monsters?”

“Yes. Since I know nothing about that, entering the field in such a state would prevent me from fully utilizing my abilities.”
Davian agreed with that part as well. He himself knew little about demons, and had only recently become aware of this ability.

“How should I then?”

“That’s why I called for Lady Evenel. To entrust her with that part.”

“To me?”

After Being Cheated On, She Picked Up a Treasure (Female-dominant)

One-line summary: The husband I married on a whim had been secretly in love with me for a long time.

On the day when Jun Shao finally obtained the imperial decree for her marriage, Lan Qu, the person she had admired for six years, defied the decree and ran away.

Her gentleness and devotion, her promise of a lifetime together, were all disregarded by him. Instead, he dreamed of entering the palace to serve the Emperor’s sister as a sixth-rank attendant.

News of this incident spread throughout the capital, and the alleys in front of and behind the Lan mansion were crowded with people who came to watch the commotion.

Jun Shao should have been embarrassed and angry.

But someone stepped in to protect her dignity.

The figure was in a miserable state, yet still possessed an undeniable elegance and handsomeness.

The young lord struggled to climb the wall of the Lan mansion and shouted to her, “If he won’t marry you, I will!”

So, Jun Shao took advantage of the situation and married the person.

She thought the young lord did it to save the Lan family from the crime of defying the imperial decree, but never imagined that from beginning to end, what he coveted was her.

After the wedding, Jun Shao felt like she was living in a dream.

Her Wife-master was as beautiful as a fairy in a painting, skilled in the six arts, well-versed in poetry and literature, capable of being gentle and attentive, and also grand and dignified. Most importantly, she was the only one in his heart and eyes.

Jun Shao didn’t know how Lan Shiwu, as a illegitimate son without a father and blessed with beauty, had managed to preserve his purity, recklessly escape, and use his last ounce of strength to ruin his own reputation, all because of his love for her, just to stand before her.

She could only see him gazing at her with eyes full of love, and when she bestowed a name upon him, his eyes shone like stars.

“You have come to me like a weary bird perching on a branch. I shall call you A Qi.”
