He hadn’t expected her to wait for him in Itaewon until this hour—Philip looked utterly flustered.

“You know I’m Kim Soon Yi, right?”

Instead of answering her accusing question directly, he gave her an incredulous look.

“How could I not know? Do you think I’m an idiot?”

“So you knew?”

“Of course I knew—that’s why I asked to meet. Do you think I’m crazy enough to hit on someone whose face I’ve never even seen?”

Hearing that he’d known all along she was Kim Soon Yi suddenly deflated her completely.

‘So you knew all this time.’

She felt strangely conflicted. He’d made her feel like a fool for doubting whether he’d been shamelessly flirting with some random woman—but somehow, that very thought made him both annoying and endearing.

Like hell she’d let him go.

She now realized that the time she’d thought she’d spent letting him go had really just been her holding on.

“A good-for-nothing, a leech, a parasite—who’d ever pick up trash like that?” Oh Hye Ju had scoffed.

But to Ruby, that “trash” had been utterly precious.

Then again, it had always been that way since she was little.

Ruby loved smooth, sea-worn green pebbles. In her seaside village, they were so plentiful they’d get caught underfoot—but she’d carefully collect them one by one until her jar overflowed, feeling deeply proud.
