“Uh… I’m sorry. I’ll boot up the computer and send it right away.”
“Why is the computer off during work hours?”
“Oh, that… I guess I turned it off when I went out for lunch.”
“Strange. Anyway, send it quickly.”
Da-hee hastily turned on the power again. However, alas, the power didn’t turn on.
“Huh? Why is this happening?”
Perplexed, Da-hee repeatedly pressed the power button.
‘It can’t be that it won’t work, right?’
Cold sweat dripped down her back as the computer suddenly became unresponsive.
“Why are you bothering with the computer instead of sending the file?”

Wook, the team leader, urged her, but the computer didn’t budge. Her lips were really parched. Da-hee, in panic, confessed to Team Leader Wook.
“Team leader, the computer won’t turn on…”
Annoyance was evident in Wook’s eyes behind his glasses.
“What? Why won’t the computer turn on?”
“I don’t know…”
“Don’t you have a backup?”
“Yes…”
“Ah, really! It’s urgent, what are you going to do?”
Team leader Wook shouted in frustration. Da-hee, who would usually nervously bite her nails, responded irritably.
“Why would you get annoyed about something like this?”
“What?”

I passed the interview. I’m about to switch jobs, so why would Team Leader Wook have any reason to be annoyed?
Da-hee’s retort left Team Leader Wook speechless. Seung-won, passing by nearby, came into her view, looking bewildered.
“Mr. Seung-won, what a coincidence to run into you!”
It was awkward, but urgent matters needed to be addressed first.
“Our team’s computer is broken, can you take a look?”
When it came to computers, it was Seung-won. There was no one at DataS Korea who handled computers as well as Seung-won. Although the company had a separate IT team, many people often asked Seung-won for help with minor malfunctions instead of going through the long process of submitting a request.
“How did it break?”
“I urgently need to send data, but suddenly it won’t turn on.”
“Really? Let me take a look.”
Approaching willingly, Seung-won arrived at the computer. It was only after he reached the computer that he realized it belonged to Da-hee. Seung-won hesitated for a moment, but soon flashed a professional smile.

“Is this the computer?”
“Yeah. Da-hee’s computer suddenly went completely dead. Mr. Seung-won is the best at handling computers in our company. He even assembled his own computer.”
“Oh, I see.”
“Please take a look. He won’t give you a hard time since he’s busy with his girlfriend.”
Not knowing the fact that Da-hee and Seung-won had broken up, Team Leader Wook spoke as if he was offering a bitter compliment. Seung-won, with an awkward smile, rolled up his sleeves.
“I’ll take a look.”
He knelt down, opened the case, and examined the tangled mess of wires without understanding what was what. Da-hee’s heart fluttered as she watched him.
Yes, that was the sight.
The sight of Seung-won that Da-hee particularly liked. Despite usually being immature to the point of childishness, when he stepped into his field, he appeared more professional than anyone else.
From the slightly furrowed brow to the tightly closed lips when concentrating, even the veins visible beneath the rolled-up sleeves—everything thrilled her.

Seung-won briskly brushed his hands and stood up before a minute had passed.
“It’s done. The power is on now.”
“Oh my, as expected of Mr. Seung-won. He’s our company’s treasure, isn’t he?”
Team Leader Wook laughed brightly, as if he was asking when he had become angry. Da-hee, who was standing behind him, bowed awkwardly.
“Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time, even though you’re busy.”
As she did with Team Leader Wook, Seung-won kindly responded.
“If the components overheat, sometimes this happens. The computer model we use in our company tends to wear out the heat prevention filter. Since I set it to power-saving mode, it should be fine from now on.”
“Yes.”
“Then.”
Seung-won nodded and turned away. Da-hee couldn’t take her eyes off him as he disappeared without a trace, as if nothing had happened.

He was just too wonderful.
The ability to effortlessly handle what most people find challenging, coupled with an unwavering personality that never shows any signs of boredom—just Kang Seung-won’s mere existence.
‘What am I going to do if I fall for him again after breaking up…’
Even with just a brief encounter, her heart couldn’t calm down.
‘If I leave this company, I won’t have anything to do with Seung-won forever.’
Now, they were no longer lovers. Considering the completely awkward relationship of the three musketeers, there would be no reason to meet as friends.
Watching Seung-won return to his seat and focus on work, Da-hee bit her lip tightly.
‘I can’t give up. I can’t do it, really…’
Her thoughts weren’t organized at all, but suddenly, she wondered if leaving the company like this was the right decision.
As she recalled the scheduled overtime date one week later, her dilemma deepened.
It seemed like she needed to double-check one last time.

Gwinyeo’s shaman shrine was located on the foothills of Yangpyeong.
It had found its place there after wandering to various locations following the spiritual descent more than a decade ago.
Those days were filled with hardships—new diseases suddenly striking, ailing bodies, days wandering around praying and attending church to reject the spirits that had invaded the body.
Unable to refuse the big shaman’s words that if she didn’t accept the spiritual descent, this agony could be passed down, Gwinyeo reluctantly received the ritual.
She didn’t want to subject Da-hee, her only daughter, to such a terrible fate.
On that day, Gwinyeo received the divorce decree.
[Dash] Because of you, I can’t show my face around here. If you’re sick, go to the hospital, or if you’re dizzy, make herbal medicine. Why are you going to those fortunetelling places instead of doing that? Huh? Do you know how the rumors spread in this neighborhood? Da-hee’s mom is going crazy, leaving her child alone and wandering around those fortune-telling places! They all gossip like that! She was told that she couldn’t live in this neighborhood because she was shameful. As soon as the divorce proceedings were finalized, Gwinyeo left the town with Da-hee.
The wall that remained for Gwinyeo was always full of curses.

Cursed spirit, crazy woman, child-abandoning witch…
Even though she tried to comfort herself by saying that it was just the foolish actions of ignorant kids, the scars in Gwinyeo’s heart didn’t fade away.
This wasn’t what she wanted. The pain in her body, hearing strange sounds, seeing ghosts—it was not what she desired.
In a situation she couldn’t control, there was only one thing Gwinyeo could do. Receive the ritual to imprison the god inside her body. By doing so, she protected Da-hee’s life from the malevolent fate.
Although her once harmonious family fell apart, and she was left alone, Gwinyeo endured silently.
‘If this is my destiny, I must bear it.’
That morning, Gwinyeo sat alone in the main hall, gazing at the sky.
As a habit in the morning, she read the geomancy to see if an esteemed guest would come. It was the first time she had read the geomancy since settling in Yangpyeong.
‘There’s no one coming, so who could it be?’
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
