Ho Tae, with a tense expression, gulped nervously.

He’d only stepped out for a cigarette, but Yoo Gun blocked his path so completely that he couldn’t budge an inch.

“You’ve been pushing your luck a bit too much lately, haven’t you?”

“It’s not like that, hyung.”

Ho Tae offered an awkward smile and lifted his head—only to immediately lower his gaze again upon meeting Yoo Gun’s icy stare.

Back in their teenage years, fueled by resentment from constant comparisons, he’d recklessly challenged Yoo Gun and gotten beaten half to death. Of course, it hadn’t helped that he’d acted arrogantly toward Yoo Gun’s family—but ever since that brutal thrashing, his shoulders automatically slumped whenever he stood before Yoo Gun.

“Hyung, just hear me out for a sec.”

Ho Tae stole a glance at Yoo Gun’s expression, then quickly looked down again, lips twitching nervously.

“See, I just… you always seemed totally uninterested in girls, so when you suddenly started dating, I was shocked! I thought maybe you were confusing your feelings—or that the woman you’re seeing might be some weirdo, and since you’re my beloved older brother, I just wanted to test the waters a little, you know?”

“You sure do deliver nonsense with a straight face.”

“Well… okay, maybe I went too far. Even if I was worried about you, I shouldn’t have done that. It’s just—”

“You were worried about your inheritance, weren’t you?”

“…Ah, it’s not exactly that. I just thought, maybe a few times, that I could trade mine for yours.”

Ho Tae lifted his head at Yoo Gun’s sharp exhale—only to find himself suddenly trapped against Yoo Gun’s chest, flailing helplessly.

Memories from the past flooded back, and Ho Tae shook his head vigorously, struggling to create some distance.
