Breaking Matchmaking (5 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 7
“So, that guy—who’s supposed to be some kind of hotteok or whatever—is Choi Yu Gun’s younger cousin, right?”
Jenny was about to marry Choi Yu Gun’s younger cousin.
Since Jenny and Yu Gun had just met today and would soon become family, that meant they were… on the same side?
Chae Won muttered to herself, then slowly shook her head.
“No, that can’t be it. If she’d just wanted to ask how this whole situation happened, she could’ve grabbed Jenny directly. The fact that she specifically requested this meeting means she has business with me.”
As Chae Won pushed her lower lip up with the back of her hand, lost in thought, Yu Gun sat down in front of her.
Startled by his presence, Chae Won looked up, her eyes wide open.
He wore a crisp black jacket over a white shirt, and his handsome face—completely expressionless—was no different from how he’d looked during their blind date just moments ago.
They sat silently, each probing the other’s thoughts, until Yu Gun finally parted his lips slowly.
“Kim Chae Won.”
Chae Won’s eyelashes fluttered in tension.
“That must be your real name.”
Chae Won curled her fingertips inward and watched him carefully.
“Our Madam wouldn’t be so careless as to bring a married woman right in front of me, so it’s obvious the married woman is Kim Hee Joo.”
A faint smile played at the corners of Yu Gun’s mouth.
“As for the rest… I need a bit of clarification. I’m starting to wonder if maybe I’m just misunderstanding everything.”
Chae Won, who had been staring fixedly into his dark eyes, soon lowered her gaze and leaned back against her chair.
“Mr. Choi Yu Gun… you’re genuinely interested in me, aren’t you?”
Yu Gun gave a soft chuckle.
He’d expected her to offer a lengthy explanation or to show a completely different side from their blind date, but her question caught him off guard.
“Why do you think so?”
“If your younger cousin mattered more to you than I did, you would’ve either confessed everything to your cousin about me or asked your cousin directly. But since you asked to meet me like this, it seems clear that I hold greater interest for you, Mr. Choi Yu Gun.”
Impressive. Even in this situation, she refused to yield and kept trying to stay on top.
Yu Gun answered with an intrigued expression.
“Yes, I’m very interested—in both you, Kim Chae Won, and Ms. Hee Joo.”
Beneath her composed gaze, Chae Won quietly swallowed.
Their intense eye contact held—until Yu Gun softened with a gentle smile.
“Don’t be so nervous. This is just something we can settle with a mutually beneficial arrangement.”
“…An arrangement?”
“Yes. Somehow, I feel certain we can make a good deal, Ms. Kim Chae Won.”
Chae Won, her guard slightly lowered, shifted her gaze to the water glass on the table.
She took a sip, trying to decipher his intentions.
His proposal to ‘arrange’ things clearly meant he wanted something in exchange for covering up the current situation.
“What do you want from me?”
“Dating.”
Taken aback, Chae Won straightened her posture sharply.
“A month of passionate dating.”
After making this shocking proposal, Yu Gun smiled gently.

Jae Min saw the woman running toward him and hurriedly opened the car door and got out.
“Hey, hey—be careful!”
He sprinted forward with both arms outstretched, then broke into a soft smile when she threw herself into his embrace.
“What if you fall? You’ve got to think about our baby.”
“Do you even know how much I’ve missed you? The moment I saw your car, my feet just moved on their own—huh!”
Still nestled in Jae Min’s arms, Rona suddenly pulled away and glanced around nervously.
Seeing only a few closed storefronts and an elderly man walking a dog in the distance, she let out a sigh of relief.
“What’s wrong?”
“I was so focused on you I completely forgot we’re near a school.”
“So what? There’s hardly anyone around.”
“We need to be careful. If even one person spots us, rumors will spread like wildfire: ‘Second-year homeroom teacher Gorona seen canoodling with some handsome guy right in front of school!’”

Though her focus was elsewhere, Jae Min still felt pleased—after all, that “handsome guy” clearly referred to him.
“Oh, come on.”
He chuckled softly and pinched her cheek affectionately.
“Hmm? I just told you not to make a scene!”
“This is killing me. Let’s go somewhere else quickly—I need to kiss you properly.”
“Yeah, hurry.”
Smiling fondly at her coquettish expression, Jae Min wrapped an arm around her waist and guided her toward the passenger seat.
“Be careful getting in. Don’t want to startle our little one.”
Cradled tenderly by Jae Min, Rona stepped into the car.
“Oh, by the way! I went to the hospital yesterday—look how much our Kongal has grown!”
When Rona pulled out an ultrasound photo from her bag, Jae Min leaned forward, eyes wide.
“It was just a dot before, but now at twelve weeks, it really looks like a person! Amazing. Hey, Kongal—this is Daddy.”
He placed a hand gently on Rona’s belly and spoke in a warm, affectionate tone.
Rona watched him talk to the baby, a soft chuckle escaping her lips.
“But, sweetheart… what’s the status on your divorce?”
“Oh, don’t worry. I’ll settle it once and for all this weekend when Kim Hee Joo comes over.”
“She’s coming over this weekend? I thought she’d completely moved out—why would she come to your place?”
Jae Min, still looking at the ultrasound image, lifted his head at the increasingly sharp edge in Rona’s voice.
If he admitted honestly that Hee Joo had put the divorce on hold and declared they’d live as weekend spouses, Rona would surely fly off the handle. So he concealed the truth and smiled.
“Oh, she’s just coming to sign the papers.”
“But you could do that anywhere! I absolutely can’t stand imagining you two under the same roof again. And even though my bump isn’t showing yet, it soon will be—I’ll be in an awkward position at school.”
“Well then… if anyone finds out, just say we registered our marriage ahead of time, but your husband was too busy to hold the ceremony yet! These days, premarital pregnancy isn’t such a big scandal.”
Rona’s brow furrowed deeply.
“How many times do I have to say it? I’m a schoolteacher—I have a social reputation to uphold! And you said you’d settle it this weekend. Just how long do you plan to drag this out that you’d ask me to lie like that?”
At her increasingly sharp tone, Jae Min moistened his lower lip with his tongue.
“Babe, calm down first. You’ll scare our Kongal. Think about the baby.”
“If you don’t want to divorce, just say so! I’ll just take Kongal and disappear for good.”
“Hey, Gorona! What on earth are you saying? You know perfectly well how fed up I am with Kim Hee Joo—and don’t say scary things like that with the baby listening!”
“I’m just upset! My belly’s going to start showing soon, yet you’re not making any real move to divorce!”
“I am! I’ll definitely get those papers signed this weekend—don’t worry, okay?”
“…Really?”
“Of course!”
Jae Min wiped away the tears welling in Rona’s eyes and even pressed his thumbprint beside them as if sealing a promise.
Waiting until the weekend clearly wasn’t an option anymore.
He’d originally planned to ease into divorce by citing personality differences, but now he realized he’d have to take a firmer stance.
Gazing at the ultrasound photo, Jae Min steeled his resolve, his eyes hardening with determination.

Yu Gun took a sip of his tea, leaned back against the chair, and spoke with his shoulders relaxed.
“My grandmother, who’s in the process of transferring assets, set a condition for me: the blind date. To be precise, a month of dating—meaning I should at least maintain minimal contact to show good faith.”
“So if I date you for a month, Mr. Choi Yu Gun gets the real estate you want, right?”
He gave a slight, silent nod.
In other words, if she pretended to date him for just one month, everything that happened today would be buried.
If she exposed the ruse to his grandmother, he’d lose the inheritance too—but by revealing his vulnerability so fairly, Yu Gun had noticeably eased Chae Won’s wariness.
“Hmm…”
Chae Won crossed her legs as if considering his offer and lifted her teacup.
“If this hadn’t happened, I might’ve unknowingly played along for a whole month only to face a painful fallout afterward, wouldn’t I have, Mr. Choi Yu Gun?”
She feigned the role of a victim.
“Am I the only one who nearly got dragged into an adultery lawsuit after dating a married woman?”
After holding her breath for a moment, Chae Won lifted her chin, her expression full of things left unsaid.
“I already told you—I’m not a married woman.”

“Then it’s time you explained.”
Now that everything was out in the open, hiding part of the truth wouldn’t change a thing.
It’d be wiser to accept his proposal and agree to keep quiet for a set period.
Besides, Hee Joo might regain consciousness before things spiraled further out of control…
“Kim Hee Joo… is my twin older sister, who’s been bedridden since an accident a few days ago.”
“That’s surprising—I never heard she had a twin.”
“I suppose not. We were separated when we were very young, and we only happened to run into each other two months ago.”
Chae Won lowered her gaze slightly as she continued.
“My sister hasn’t chosen divorce yet, but the man is desperate to end it. I only stepped in to play her role temporarily. From what I learned, if a spouse becomes comatose, that qualifies as valid grounds for divorce.”
Yu Gun nodded slowly, the situation making sense. He watched her silently, his eyes steady.
“To be honest, although I do want them divorced, I don’t know if their finances have been properly settled, whether everything’s been fairly resolved, or if there’s some other unjust reason behind his rush to divorce. I couldn’t just let him have his way without ensuring my sister gets the chance to choose for herself once she wakes up.”
Raindrops began to bead on the café window.
Pitter-patter. Amid the growing rhythm of rain, Chae Won’s earnest voice continued.
“So from now on, please forget about Kim Hee Joo. This is strictly a family matter.”
“Agreed—as long as our deal works out smoothly.”
At Yu Gun’s final words, tension flickered across Chae Won’s face once more.
Whether he smiled or remained expressionless, that handsome face of his felt threatening—perhaps because he now knew everything.
“So fake dating lasts exactly one month, right? And we just need to take one verification photo each time we meet?”
He gave a light nod.
That was good news, actually.
She’d worried he might ask for real feelings—but since this was a clean, transactional arrangement, they could say goodbye with smiles in a month.
“Alright. Let’s do it.”
“You decide quickly.”
“It’s a deal with no downside. Besides, I’ve always been swift and accurate in judgment—I trust myself completely.”
“I suppose that makes sense. Ms. Kim Chae Won is someone who couldn’t survive without trust, after all.”
Stung by the veiled jab, Chae Won quickly masked her embarrassment.
“Well, the deal’s settled, and it’s raining—shall we call it a day?”
She picked up her bag.
“And by the way, Mr. Choi Yu Gun—you’re really lucky. I normally don’t date at all.”
Whether she was prolonging her ‘princess syndrome’ or simply insisting on staying on top till the end, Chae Won walked ahead with deliberate aloofness.
Yu Gun watched her retreating back and let out an exasperated, wry laugh.
Apparently ready to pay, she rummaged through her bag, eyes down—unaware her movement blocked the path of a server carrying a full tray.
“Oops.”
Yu Gun caught Chae Won’s arm, steadying her, and handed his card to the cashier.
“Let’s go sweetly—it’s day one, after all.”
Now standing close to him, Chae Won straightened her surprised expression and looked up.
Perhaps because they’d reached a satisfying agreement, his once-threatening gaze now felt entirely different.
Still, Chae Won resolved not to be led around—and looped her arm through his.
“Then let’s go like this—sweetly.”
Meeting his frank stare, Chae Won offered him a bonus: an extra sweet smile.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
