Yoo Gun opened his eyes at the second consecutive buzz of a message.

Through the slightly open window, the dim light of dawn and the soft glow from a lamp left on in another room faintly illuminated the bed where the two of them lay.

Buzzzz. Yoo Gun picked up Chae Won’s phone, which lit up once more.

Still groggy from sleep, he glanced at the incoming message—from the Detective Agency Boss.

“At this hour?”

Frowning with displeasure as he skimmed the message, Yoo Gun paused just before switching the phone to silent.

She might receive an urgent call from her older sister.

Having made up his mind, Yoo Gun placed Chae Won’s phone back where it belonged and gazed down at her, nestled in his arms.

She’d already pulled the blanket up completely and, eventually, fallen asleep clutching its edge.

Yoo Gun stared for a long while at Chae Won’s exposed shoulders and slightly parted red lips.

“…Kim Chae Won.”

Gently brushing her soft hair aside, Yoo Gun quietly whispered her name—the one he kept wanting to say out loud.

He knew she wouldn’t wake easily; she’d only just dozed off after fainting earlier.

The excitement that refused to fade—holding her, embracing her again, still craving more.

He’d pushed her too hard, evident even in her tired-looking face.
