As a lawyer, he knew too well that if Heeju refused to sign, this was another way. If it were before, he would have pushed through with a lawsuit, but now his heart wasn’t in it.

Lately, the once sweet and loving Rona was constantly nagging and getting angry, while the innocent and kind Heeju was trying various ways to win his heart back, appearing cute in his eyes.

“Lawyer Noh, son! Don’t tell me, do you still have feelings for Heeju? Is that it?”

“It’s not exactly feelings. It’s just… when I see her trying to get my attention, it’s pitiful, and she seems prettier. It reminds me of our old times.”

“Oh my, my, my.”

Youngja widened her eyes and mouth in shock, eventually smacking Jaemin on the back.

“You’re crazy! Crazy!”

“Ouch, Mom!”

“Son, this is not right, is it? What are you going to do if you start wavering now!”

“It’s not that, it’s just… that’s how I feel.”

Youngja shouted in alarm. She remembered Jaemin had the same expression when he first brought Heeju home, despite being fine with the arranged date.

She had been okay with Heeju, but still preferred her over the other woman, asking her to see Heeju favorably.

Determined not to let it happen again, Youngja hardened her expression.

“Lawyer Noh, listen to me. I recently went to a well-known psychic, and they said if you continue to live with Heeju, her father’s wandering spirit will cling to our house, and neither of us will live long.”

Jaemin slowly lifted his eyelids, speaking cautiously.

“Do they talk about Heeju’s father there too?”

“Wherever we go, they say her father’s spirit is stuck to our house. Don’t you think it’s strange, all the misfortunes in our family, even your healthy father’s sudden passing?”

Lost in thought, Jaemin pursed his lower lip.
Though he initially didn’t believe in the shaman’s words, Jaemin couldn’t deny the series of unfortunate events that seemed to follow him, and whenever Heeju’s father was mentioned, it felt like swallowing thorns.

Seeing Jaemin’s wavering, Youngja pressed on, “Our Rona is a blessing. The psychic said you must live with her. Living with Rona will lead you to great success!”

Youngja observed Jaemin’s troubled expression and continued, “Proceed with the meeting as planned tomorrow, and marry her as soon as possible, Jaemin. I already told the relatives you’re divorced.”

“So soon?”

“If we suddenly announce your marriage, people will think it’s strange. So, I said you and Heeju broke up long ago. I’ll handle everything, so don’t worry. Just focus on bringing Rona home.”

Jaemin knew it was all true and the right thing to do, but he felt unsettled.

He soon got up. “I’m going out for a bit.”

“Where are you going at this hour, Lawyer Noh?”

“Just to clear my thoughts over a beer.”

“Why buy beer? You can have it with me at home. Jaemin! Lawyer Noh!”

Jaemin quickly left the house. Youngja, sighing as she watched the front door close, suddenly remembered something. “Oh! I forgot to attach the talisman!”

She climbed onto a chair with the talisman she received from a new psychic today, sticking it firmly above the front door. “With this, that ghost won’t be able to enter. I need to keep it up for a while.”

After attaching it, she stepped down with relief.

Flutter.

The talisman fell behind her, landing weakly on Jaemin’s sneakers.

“Have you arrived?”

Entering the hospital room, Chaewon was greeted by the caregiver.

She nodded in greeting and naturally turned her attention to Heeju. “Has everything been okay?”

“Yes, she’s been sleeping continuously.”

Grateful for the caregiver’s comforting words, Chaewon handed her one of the two shopping bags she had brought. “It’s dumplings, said to be so delicious that people line up for them. They might have cooled off, so please heat them before eating.”

“Thank you so much.”

“It’s nothing.”

Chaewon walked around the bed to Heeju’s side and took an old rabbit doll out of the other shopping bag, placing it gently on a chair nearby.

The caregiver looked puzzled. “She must have loved dolls.”

Chaewon didn’t know if Heeju liked dolls. She only knew they both had similar rabbit dolls in their childhood, which Heeju had taken even to the US.

“Just in case she gets startled when she wakes up.”

The caregiver smiled kindly, “She’ll wake up soon, with such devoted care from her sister.”

After exchanging smiles, the caregiver picked up the cup and bag to do some washing up. “You two spend some time together. I’ll heat up the dumplings.”

Once alone, Chaewon pulled a chair closer and sat down, glancing at the vital sign monitor. A text message beeped.

[Are you asleep? Jaemin]

Chaewon stared blankly at the two words. Jaemin, wavering between his wife and pregnant mistress, unable to even call her home, continued to send these distasteful messages.

“Poor sister, how did you end up with such a pathetic man?”
Chaewon, with a blank expression, chided Heeju internally and replied to Jaemin’s message.

[Yes. I’m sleeping]

The response came quickly, as if he didn’t want to end the conversation.

[????] [How can you reply if you’re sleeping] [You’re always so cute]

Observing the predictable responses with dry eyes, Chaewon set down her phone and said, “He’s going to call soon. I’ll let you hear your husband’s voice after a long time. Maybe the rising anger will give you the will to wake up.”

While adjusting the air conditioning and tidying the blanket over Heeju, the anticipated phone call came. Chaewon turned her head, answered the call, and switched to speakerphone.

What are you doing?

“Sleeping.”

Jaemin’s chuckling voice was heard.

You really put in a lot of effort. It’s cute. And using formal speech adds a fresh feeling.

Chaewon forced a smile.

I’ve been thinking a lot, drinking alone… Do you want to come out?

After checking the time, Chaewon asked, “Where are you?”

I’ll text you the location.

“Okay.”

After ending the call, a message with his location arrived promptly. Chaewon forwarded it to a private investigator and then made a call.

“It’s me.”

Go ahead.

“You need to work. Bring your camera.”

Perhaps due to paying a higher price than for Gorona, a loyal and swift response followed.

“I sent you a text with the location. Go there and send the details to Gorona as well.”

After finishing the call, Chaewon grabbed her clutch bag. Despite the peak of her tiredness due to lack of sleep, she decided to sleep when she’s dead.

“I’ll be back.”

After whispering quietly to Heeju, Chaewon stepped out, her heels clicking as she walked.

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
