Business sometimes requires spending time with people whose personalities or tastes don’t align, maintaining a smile throughout.
Such was the case with the call from President Hwang that had just come in.
“That’s how it is in this business.”
After parking in the underground lot, Yu-gun listened to Hwang’s trivial chatter for the third minute.
“Let’s discuss this tomorrow. I’ll contact you through my secretary about the location.”
Yu-gun cut the conversation at an appropriate point, his expression uninterested.
Fortunately, Hwang caught the hint, ending the call with a quick goodbye.
Yu-gun turned to the passenger seat.
Chaewon had started dozing off ten minutes before arrival and still hadn’t woken up, even after parking and finishing the call.
Yu-gun looked at her awkwardly slumped posture, breathing softly in sleep, and felt puzzled.
“Chaewon?”
She didn’t stir, despite the not-so-soft voice, possibly due to alcohol or deep sleep.
His gaze fell to the black jacket on the passenger floor. It was his jacket, offered to Chaewon, who was wearing a thin dress, to shield her from the direct blast of the air conditioner.
The jacket had naturally revealed her bare legs, which looked startling.
While he acknowledged her fashion sense, he couldn’t help but think her skirt was a bit too short.
Yu-gun wondered if Chaewon was this defenseless even in front of the guy earlier. Despite having drunk alcohol, shouldn’t she have stayed alert and gone home to sleep?
“What are you trusting so much to sleep like this?”
Her vulnerable state somehow displeased him. He also disliked the confusion in his own mind caused by her defenselessness around men.
Yu-gun, watching her, decided to wake her up by grabbing her shoulder.
“We’re here, wake up.”
His hand, initially shaking her, stopped abruptly. As Chaewon’s head drooped, it leaned against Yu-gun’s arm, bringing their faces uncomfortably close.
Startled by the sudden proximity, Yu-gun froze, staring at her. If Chaewon woke up now, it would be a misunderstanding deserving of an explanation. He should move away or wake her up quickly.
But…
His gaze fixated on her evenly spread eyelashes, flawless skin, and particularly pink lips.
Amid the silence, Yu-gun felt something hot touch his neck.
His gaze drifted lower, to the soft breaths escaping Chaewon’s lips, making his Adam’s apple bob.
“Ah, this is crazy.”
In mere seconds, Yu-gun had a barrage of thoughts and quickly pulled away from her.
Losing support, Chaewon wobbled and opened her eyes thinly.
“Ah, uh.”
Her eyes slowly gained focus. Rubbing her head as if in pain, she straightened her neck.
Still sleepy, her eyes finally found Yu-gun.
“Are we already here?”
Surprised by the multiple sensations she’d unwittingly given him in such a short time, Yu-gun was at a loss for words.
“Get out if you’re awake.”
Nodding, Chaewon got out of the car and habitually checked her phone for messages. Finding none, she put it back in her bag with a dejected look.
“You shouldn’t drink if it affects you like this. Either don’t drink at all or keep your wits about you until you’re home.”
Chaewon’s eyebrows twitched.
“Did I say anything strange in my sleep?”
“You were so out of it, you didn’t even respond when called.”
“Ah…”
Her simple ‘ah’ underscored her unawareness of the danger.
“I usually get very sleepy when I drink… That’s why I drank intentionally today. I haven’t slept well for days since my sister’s condition.”
“Then you should drink at home.”
“I just drank a little because there was alcohol at the company dinner.”
“It’s late; let’s go inside.”
Chaewon watched his retreating back, biting her lip.
“Why do I feel like I’ve been scolded?”
Perplexed by his seemingly angry demeanor, she blinked in confusion.
“Did I do something wrong? Was I troublesome?”
Wondering if she had said something nonsensical to him in her half-asleep state, she remembered nothing significant, having slept soundly for the first time in a while.
Tilting her head in confusion, Chaewon hastened her steps, following Yu-gun who was looking back as if urging her to hurry.
An Indifferent Woman is the One Men Desire the Most
One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.
This novel has the following triggers, so if you’re sensitive to these, please don’t read:
1. The female lead has had many relationships, but she treated each one seriously and broke up properly.
It’s just that the men unilaterally pestered her incessantly. For the female lead, when she doesn’t like someone anymore, she simply doesn’t like them.
(This applies to her relationships with Male Lead 1, 2, 3, and 4 as well, but she’s loyal in each 1-on-1 relationship!)
2. In this novel, Male Lead 2 and the female lead kiss in a car, and Male Lead 1 sees it and beats up Male Lead 2.
The female lead calls the police and sends both Male Lead 1 and 2 to the police station! Male Lead 1 begs the female lead not to break up with him.
3. Male Lead 1 has a gentle appearance but an obsessive personality.
Male Lead 2 has a delicate and soft appearance, slightly green tea-like (two-faced).
Male Lead 3 is a youthful college student and a smart person who has secretly liked the female lead for a long time.
Male Lead 4 is the female lead’s father’s special assistant, a business elite with deep, hidden thoughts.
4. At the beginning of this novel, the female lead has already broken up with Male Lead 1 (Chapter 4) and gotten back together with Male Lead 2 (ex-boyfriend).
5. Enter with caution if you have triggers!!!
