“It’s cheap. Cheaper than the car you smashed.”
Ho-Tae awkwardly laughed at the reminder of the incident where he had wrecked Yu-Geon’s car at a family gathering.
“Ho-Tae!”
Yu-Geon turned towards Jenny, who approached with a soft voice.
“Hey, babe. You’re early?”
“Yeah.”
Jenny looked at Yu-Geon curiously, and Ho-Tae, catching their exchange, began to introduce them.
“Babe, this is Choi Yu-Geon, my cousin. Say hi.”
“Hello, I guess I’ll see you again soon, but I’m Jenny, engaged to Ho-Tae.”
Yu-Geon, recalling her from earlier with Chaewon, simply nodded in greeting.

“You saw me earlier, right?”
“Yes.”
“But how do you know our sister-in-law?”
“Sister-in-law?”
“Hee-Ju unni, I mean, I’m Hee-Ju unni’s sister-in-law. I saw you two having a meal earlier, just wondering how you know each other.”
Yu-Geon stared at Jenny for a moment, seemingly lost in thought.
“Why are you asking?” Jenny raised her eyebrows in confusion.
Yu-Geon finally spoke calmly.
“Just met through work. See you next time.”
After a brief goodbye to Jenny, Yu-Geon walked past them and left.

Jenny watched his retreating figure and murmured.
“He looks like a celebrity, so handsome.”
“What?” Ho-Tae sounded displeased.
“No, I mean, everyone in your family is good-looking. Of course, you’re the best.”
Ho-Tae beamed proudly.
“Our family is like that. So, no worries about our future kids’ looks.”
“Yeah, no worries!”
Jenny smiled sweetly but then pondered.
“But what kind of work would our sister-in-law have with your cousin?”
“That sister-in-law, the frustrating one?”

“Yeah. She was having dinner with your cousin just before.”
Muttering ‘maybe she’s having an affair,’ Ho-Tae scoffed.
“Why would Choi Yu-Geon bother having an affair with a married woman? And he’s a workaholic, doesn’t even date. That’s why grandma’s dangling inheritance to get him into a relationship.”
“Really? That extreme?”
Jenny, about to comment on Yu-Geon’s wasted good looks, stopped herself, noticing Ho-Tae’s furrowed brow.
“Anyway, he’s odd. Acts all high and mighty, really unlucky.”
Realizing the strained relationship between Ho-Tae and Yu-Geon, Jenny pouted thoughtfully and then playfully shook Ho-Tae’s arm.
“Babe, I’m hungry. Let’s eat quickly, okay?”
“Sure, sure. Let’s go, my babe.”
As Jenny walked alongside Ho-Tae, she couldn’t help but glance back at the lingering image of the two men she had left behind.
‘But how do you know our sister-in-law?’

Sister-in-law…
It’s unlikely that Mrs. Kim would have set up a married woman for a blind date without proper research.
‘Hee-Ju unni!’
Repeatedly called by another name, and Kim Chaewon’s unhesitant response.
“What is this unsettling situation?”
While pondering behind the steering wheel, Yu-Geon’s phone rang.
[Kim Chaewon]Staring at her name, Yu-Geon soon answered the call.
I felt I didn’t properly say goodbye earlier. I unexpectedly met someone important and couldn’t stay.
Her voice was polite.
I should have handled it better. Also, I’ll talk to my father about our blind date. Sorry for disappointing him in many ways.

Her cute act of feigned illness and princess behavior could be overlooked, but leaving just after cutting two pieces of steak felt unfair.
Mrs. Kim, who assumes her bloodline is the best, wouldn’t believe that Chaewon was rejected.
Feeling uneasy about their mysterious parting and her negative score in consideration.
“Where are you?”
Pardon?
“We have some things to discuss, don’t we?”
Well, I don’t think so.
“Then I should join my cousin and his date. Jenny seemed very curious about your sister-in-law. We might have more to talk about Kim Chaewon.”
An awkward silence followed.
Choi Yu-Geon.

“Yes. Kim Chaewon. Or was it Hee-Ju?”
Let’s meet.
Typical of her, hiding something.
Don’t interrupt a young couple’s date. It’s not nice. Let’s meet soon. Where I am is…
After confirming her location on the navigation, Yu-Geon ended the call and started the car.
Maybe things would resolve easier than expected, Yu-Geon thought as he sped up.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
