Jae In turned her head away, her cheeks burning, feeling his intense gaze pierce right through her.
‘Team Leader, why on earth are you doing this to me!’
Just as she was bewildered by Do Hyuk’s incomprehensible behavior—
Do Hyuk, who had been silently watching her, suddenly leaned toward her.
The moment his hot breath brushed her neck—

Jae In bitterly regretted her foolishness for naively trusting Do Hyuk’s promise and walking straight into the tiger’s den.

Gazing at Jae In, who looked half-dazed, Do Hyuk spoke softly.

The instant he finished speaking, Do Hyuk covered her soft lips as if devouring them.

Jae In shrieked and jerked upright from her seat.
“Seo Jae In, are you okay?”

Do Hyuk stood beside the dining table, giving her a look that clearly said, “Snap out of it.”
He hadn’t even taken off his coat, as if he’d just arrived home.
“Why are you acting so weird all of a sudden? Did you see a ghost in your dream?”

Well… something even scarier than a ghost.

“N-No, it’s nothing.”
Jae In masked her embarrassment with an awkward laugh and slowly sat back down.
‘Whew, thank goodness it was just a dream.’
Her relief lasted only a moment.
The vivid dream scene kept replaying in her mind, making her cheeks burn again.
Do Hyuk’s intense gaze and his words—’This is what I meant, wasn’t it?’—as he leaned in to kiss her—kept circling in her head.
Just then, as if he’d read her mind, Do Hyuk strode toward the sofa.
The closer he got, the faster her heartbeat raced.
He stopped right in front of her, tossed his coat onto the armrest, and let it drape there.
“Didn’t I tell you to stay awake and wait for me?”
“I must’ve dozed off while waiting.”
Jae In checked the time. It was well past 11, just like in her dream.
“Oh, it’s already this late… You said you’d come home really late, Team Leader, and you really meant it.”
“Yeah, it turned out that way.”
Do Hyuk sat down beside Jae In and roughly loosened his tie.
Seemingly stifled, he unbuttoned his shirt one button after another, leaned his head back, and closed his eyes.
Silence settled between them.
Wait.
Haven’t I seen this scene before?
Realizing this was exactly what had happened in her dream, Jae In was struck with shock.
Could this be déjà vu?
That couldn’t possibly be real.
Maybe it was just a coincidence—she had to check.
Nervously, Jae In spoke the exact words from her dream to Do Hyuk.
“Y-You must’ve been really tired.”
“Yeah.”
Do Hyuk replied briefly, still keeping his eyes closed.
“Did something happen?”
“Just something very tiring.”
Instantly, goosebumps covered Jae In’s entire body.
Well, “yeah” was a common reply, but “just something very tiring” was undeniable proof.
Surely her dream wasn’t about to come true right now?
Thump-thump.
Her pulse urgently blared a warning.
‘I need to run away fast before something inappropriate happens!’
Jae In jumped up and bowed deeply.
“Team Leader, I’ll go to bed first. See you tomorrow.”
Afraid Do Hyuk might grab her, she quickly stepped away.
But at that moment, an unexpected force yanked her back, making her collapse onto the floor.
Do Hyuk held her wrist and whispered softly—
The exact words from her dream.
“Don’t go.”
“Kyaaaaah!”
Jae In screamed and pushed Do Hyuk’s chest with all her might.
His body toppled backward, landing with a thud on the sofa.
The problem was—since her wrist was still in his grip, Jae In lost her balance and fell right on top of him.
The fresh scent of the ocean she’d caught in the elevator filled her nose again.
The next moment—
Jae In realized she was plastered against Do Hyuk’s chest, her cheek pressed against his bare skin.
Once again, a scream echoed through the house.
“Kyaaah! I’m so sorry! Team Leader, that’s not what I meant! I don’t want this! No!”
“Seo Jae In, what exactly are you trying to do?”
A sharp reprimand came flying at her.

Frustrated, Do Hyuk pressed her sharply.
“It’s just…”

Jae In had the words ready, but couldn’t bring herself to say them aloud. She just gave an embarrassed smile.

Jae In deliberately typed loudly on her keyboard to prove she was working.

Jae In swallowed her complaint and put on a bright smile.
“Team Leader, is there anything else you’d like me to do?”
“Aren’t you suffocating in that outfit?”
“…!”
Sure enough, Jae In was sweating profusely as if sitting in a sauna.
She’d layered a T-shirt up to her neck, over that a training top, and finished it off with a fully zipped hooded zipper jacket.
Her lower half wasn’t much better—three layers including thermal underwear.
“Of course I’m fine! I’m just really sensitive to cold. Haha.”
As if.
No sane person would dress like this indoors.
She’d put on all these layers after getting Do Hyuk’s call to wait for him, just in case something unexpected happened.
You never know.
Ha. Do Hyuk shot her an incredulous look.
“You manage just fine in the office with only a blouse?”
“Team Leader, I’ve finished organizing the documents. What should I do with them?”
Jae In blinked her big eyes innocently, wearing a face that said, “I don’t know anything.”
When words fail, change the subject—that’s the golden rule.
After silently watching Jae In act innocent for a moment, Do Hyuk shifted his gaze back to his files and said,
“Email it to me. You must be tired—go to bed now. Good work.”
“Yes, understood.”
“And don’t be so tense at home—just relax and be comfortable.”
“Huh?”
Do Hyuk lowered his head deeply and murmured so softly it was barely audible,
“I won’t eat you.”
“…!”
Startled by his unexpected remark, Jae In looked up—but Do Hyuk was already flipping through his documents with an indifferent expression, as if nothing had happened.
Jae In tilted her head curiously and rubbed her ear.
‘Ah, I must’ve misheard.’
After all, Do Hyuk was the type who, even when living alone with her, stayed so absorbed in work that he never even glanced her way.
Finally relieved, Jae In let out a deep sigh.
‘There’s no way Team Leader sees me as a woman. Locking my door? Yu Ra, you really worried over nothing.’
Jae In felt tearfully grateful just at the thought of being able to sleep peacefully with her legs stretched out.
Whatever the truth may be.
“Was I too harsh on her from day one?”
Do Hyuk murmured to himself, gazing softly at Jae In as she slept face-down on the dining table.
On their first day living together, he’d felt reluctant to just let her go straight to her room.
He genuinely did need her help with work—
But even more, he simply couldn’t find any excuse other than work to stay with her.
Though he’d told her to go home first since he’d be late, she’d stayed until the end to help him.
He found it endearing—and deeply touching—that she worked so diligently without even blushing once.
Carefully, so as not to wake her, Do Hyuk gently draped a blanket over Jae In.
As he pulled his hand back, his fingertips lightly brushed her cheek.
He regretted how quickly the soft, tender sensation vanished.
Still gazing at her with lingering affection, he heard a faint murmur escape her lips.
“Mmm… Team Leader…”
