Yeon Ji looked at Do Hyuk and pouted.
“Oppa, you said we’d come together, but you came alone like a loner?”
“If people from the company see someone getting in your car, they’ll think I’m fooling around with a new employee.”
“Tch, that’s just an excuse!”
Yeon Ji pursed her lips at Do Hyuk’s indifferent response.
As the daughter of Aunt Cha Joo Young, Lee Yeon Ji, like Do Hyuk, had hidden her identity and received business classes at DaeSan F&G before joining the management. Unlike Jin Hyuk, who had a strong competitive spirit, Yeon Ji followed Do Hyuk sincerely with a pure heart. Among Do Hyuk’s family, Yeon Ji was the one who felt most comfortable with him.
“Do Hyuk, is Yeon Ji doing well at work? I entrusted her to you, so you should train her properly.”
“Don’t worry.”
Do Hyuk nodded in response to Joo Young’s request. Seeing that, Yeon Ji made a complaining sound.
“Mom, please don’t say that. I’m always getting scolded by him. It feels like I’m going through combat training at the company.”

“Are you really learning well? Haha.”
“Mom, even though you don’t know. Well, these days we go to company dinners together, he buys me snacks, and he’s becoming more considerate. I can live with it.”
“Really? I was worried that he was only focused on work. It’s a relief.”
After Oppa In Ho left this world, Do Hyuk, who matured early, was always a source of concern for Joo Young.
At Joo Young’s sincere words, the corners of Do Hyuk’s mouth subtly lifted.
Seeing that, Yeon Ji smiled meaningfully and whispered to Do Hyuk, making sure only he could hear.
“But there’s something fishy about suddenly changing people. What happened to Oppa? Something must have happened, right?”
Taken by surprise, Do Hyuk looked at Yeon Ji with astonished eyes.
Yeon Ji tilted her head and smiled brightly, just like when she caught Do Hyuk staring at Jae In during the day.
With a knowing look.

“I had a feeling… Did you actually notice back then?”
Do Hyuk calmly replied as if nothing was amiss.
“Don’t say strange things.”
“What’s the reason for the sudden change? Are you dating, by any chance?”
“You really…!”
Joo Young asked with a worried expression when she noticed Do Hyuk’s flustered face.
“Do Hyuk, is something wrong? Are you okay?”
“It’s nothing.”
“Oh, by the way, I heard from Dad that Do Hyuk went to have a private talk with you.”
“Grandfather!”

Do Hyuk furrowed his brows and looked at Chairman Cha.
The rest of the family also looked surprised, their eyes widening simultaneously.
Yeon Ji asked in disbelief.
“Oppa, is that true?”
“It is or it isn’t.”
Before Do Hyuk could even respond, Chairman Cha answered.
“Who is the other person?”
“Yeon Ji, since you’re in the same circle, you should know her well. It’s Yoon Se Jeong from Seo Jin Corporation.”
“Se Jeong unni?”
Oh my goodness!

Yeon Ji’s mouth hung open.
Do Hyuk cut in with a stern face.
“Grandfather, I clearly told you that I have no intention of getting married.”
“I’ve already marked Se Jeong as my granddaughterinlaw. Understand that.”
“I don’t like it.”
“I can’t give in on this matter either.”
Cha Jung Hwan intervened between the two stubbornly refusing to back down.
“Do Hyuk, if it’s Seo Jin Corporation, you’ll have a substantial stake and become a reliable backer. Why are you opposing this? It’s a very strategic choice.”
“I’m not interested in that kind of thing.”
Do Hyuk was genuinely astonished by Jung Hwan’s subtly pointed words.

Meanwhile, Jung Hwan himself was secretly pushing for the marriage between Jin Hyuk and the daughter of MF Partners’ CEO, Jang Moon Soo, who was practically a money pipeline.
Jung Hwan was in the process of selling major subsidiaries of Daesan Group, including Daesan F&G, to MF Partners under the plausible pretext of a merger, in order to secure a friendly stake.
Rather than handing over Daesan Group to Do Hyuk, he had chosen to take a significant share even if it meant destroying the company.
At first, Do Hyuk had intended to inform Chairman Cha of all these facts. However, in the end, he had no choice but to give up on that idea.
It was clear that if he spoke recklessly, no one would believe him.
Above all, he was worried that Chairman Cha, whose heart was already weak, would be shocked and collapse.
Do Hyuk no longer wanted to face the shameless Cha Jung Hwan, so he stood up from his seat.
“Grandfather, I’m sorry, but I’ll take my leave first.”
“So soon? Are you protesting because you don’t like what I said?”
Seeing Chairman Cha’s disappointment, Do Hyuk forced a smile.

“No, it’s not that. I have something that needs to be finished by tomorrow.”
“Alright, if you’re busy, go ahead. Let’s meet again.”
With a friendly smile, Cha Jung Hwan pushed Do Hyuk’s back.
Do Hyuk briefly lowered his head to the disappointed Chairman Cha and turned away.
Even though he had turned his back, he could clearly feel the icy gaze of Cha Jung Hwan piercing his back.
“Indeed, conglomerates are on a different level! They have their own palaces.”
Yura exclaimed as she looked around the penthouse.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
