“Team Leader, when you think you might be very late, don’t you usually tell me to go to sleep instead of waiting?”
Jaehyun wondered what Dohyuk would say in response.
― Do I have to? Don’t you want to see me?
Jaehyun couldn’t help but laugh at the childish, petulant tone.
Who would restrain Cha Dohyuk?
“Was that the case even on the day I first moved into Team Leader’s house? You told me to wait until late at night because you wanted to see me?”
― Yes.
“But on that day, you gave me work until late, didn’t you?”
― Well, I just wanted to be with you, even if it meant that…
So that’s what it was.

Having belatedly sensed Dohyuk’s feelings, Jaehyun’s heart fluttered.
“Team Leader, just how much do you like me?”
Without hesitation, Dohyuk answered.
― As much as it felt like the sky was falling when Seo Jae-in resigned?
His sincere words conveyed through the calm voice struck Jaehyun’s heart deeply.
The next moment, Jaehyun felt a surge of strength rising from deep within her chest.
‘Yes, if it’s to be with Team Leader again, there’s nothing I can’t do. Let’s get back on track, Seo Jae-in!’
This man, after all, he’s Cha Dohyuk!
Jaehyun decided to try knocking on Chairman Cha’s firmly closed heart once again.
That night, Sejeong was having drinks with her friend Minhye at the dining bar they had visited last time.

Seeing Sejeong emptying her glass repeatedly, Minhye scolded her.
“Sejeong, drink slowly. You might suddenly collapse at this rate.”
“It’s okay. It’s Friday night, so I want to drink comfortably.”
“Why are you doing this today when you usually don’t drink much?”
“Just because it’s Friday night, and I want to drink without any worries.”
Then Minhye, holding Sejeong’s fist, said.
“Then, shall we go to that table over there and drink together? Those two guys I recently got to know keep suggesting joining them since a while ago.”
“What?”
Sejeong looked where Minhye was pointing.
Two men dressed from head to toe were sending a sultry gaze.

Annoyed in an instant, Sejeong pushed away Minhye’s arm and said.
“If you want to go, then go by yourself.”
“Oh, no. How can I leave you alone?”
Seeing Sejeong’s cold reaction, Minhye hesitated and looked for her reaction.
“Never mind, go. I’d rather be alone.”
“Really?”
“Yes.”
Minhye decided it was time and left Sejeong, going to the table with the men.
What a friend, leaving without any consideration or loyalty.
Throughout dinner with Minhye, Sejeong had been feeling down because of what happened when she met Jaehyun.

And during all this, she was thinking of hanging out with guys.
Not even understanding Sejeong’s feelings, Minhye, in the midst of this, was contemplating hanging out with guys.
Without understanding, without loyalty. What a friend.
Sejeong muttered to herself with a wry smile.
“What? Why waste life like this? My life is something I decide, right?”
Sejeong snickered and grumbled to herself, not wanting to recall the words Jaehyun had said, which she didn’t want to remember.
“Seo Jae-in, who do you think you are to dare lecture me? It’s nothing special…”
The more she thought about it, the dirtier she felt.
Initially, when she went to see Jae-in for the first time, it was with the intention of sternly reminding her of her place.
She wanted to expose Chairman Cha’s true feelings, inflict wounds, and make her fall out of favor.
However, the Jae-in she had underestimated confidently spoke eloquently.

She even openly declared that she and Cha Dohyuk were in love.
That fact angered Sejeong so much.
A woman who had Cha Dohyuk, someone Sejeong desired so much, whether out of obsession or something else.
Just knowing that fact made Sejeong envious to the point of madness.
“Wait and see, I won’t let you two off easily!”
As Sejeong spread malicious rumors, she emptied her glass once again to soothe her bitter feelings.
“Yoon Sejeong, do you have something to talk about with me?”
Sejeong turned her head at the sound of her name.
In her semi-blurred vision, a familiar face appeared.
He was none other than the man Sejeong had desperately wanted.

The next morning, still half asleep, Sejeong felt a splitting headache, a consequence of drinking too much in a fit of anger the night before.
Pressing her head, Sejeong slowly opened her eyes.
The light fixture attached to the ceiling looked unfamiliar.
It certainly wasn’t her room.
‘Where am I?’
Sejeong anxiously looked around.
A strange room, unfamiliar furniture, and…
A man lying next to her, facing away.
“Ahh!”
Sejeong jumped in fright and hastily grabbed the blanket when she realized she wasn’t wearing any clothes.

At Sejeong’s scream, the man woke up, turning his body to lie down.
Seeing his face, Sejeong’s heart sank.
“Cha Jinhyuk? Uh, how?”
“Sejeong-ah, did you sleep well?”
Jinhyuk smiled and leisurely found and put on his underwear and pants.
Watching him in embarrassment, Sejeong belatedly regained her composure and sharply retorted.
“What on earth happened? Where is this?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
