S Group was thrown into complete chaos.

The prosecutor, armed with an arrest warrant and a search warrant, headed straight to Jong Won’s office.

Ha Joon had grown suspicious of a wall in Young Joo’s master bedroom, which appeared freshly coated with cement, and the detectives accompanying him immediately called in experts to break through it.

Just as suspected, behind the wall was a space about one pyeong in size, containing the decisive evidence the orphanage director had given Young Joo before her death.

There was the burner phone the director had used to contact Jae Hwan directly, video footage and photos of their cash exchanges, and even a copy of the contract they’d signed when initiating their deal.

To make matters worse, the call records on the burner phone revealed that Young Joo had planted spies not only within Yoo Young Group but also inside other conglomerates.

Young Joo had hidden this evidence as insurance—proof that she hadn’t acted alone, in case either the broker organization or her client turned against her.

Prosecutors swiftly issued the warrants, reasoning that since Jae Hwan had attempted to harm Young Joo—a key witness and accomplice—and had searched her home to destroy evidence, he might try to do so again.

“Mr. Jung Jae Hwan, you are hereby placed under emergency arrest on suspicion of attempted murder by instigation, embezzlement, and evidence tampering.”

Jae Hwan’s eyes widened in shock.

“What the hell are you people doing? Do you even have evidence? I’m asking if you have any proof!”

As Jae Hwan bellowed at the top of his lungs, Jong Won, who had been inside the office, grew restless and nervously peeked through the door crack to observe the commotion outside.

“The warrant wouldn’t have been issued if we didn’t have evidence.”

At the word “evidence,” Jong Won’s heart pounded wildly, and his pupils dilated as if struck by an earthquake. Could it be? Had the broker organization betrayed him? Surely not Kim Ji Young?

Jong Won tried to remain calm—he and Jae Hwan had rehearsed exactly this scenario.
