Seo Ah went in to shower first, and Ha Joon stared blankly at the chocolate placed on the table for a long time before picking it up with slightly trembling hands.

“Whew…”

Just looking at it made his stomach churn, so he couldn’t muster the courage to eat it. He carefully put it away in his briefcase—leaving it out might make Seo Ah worry.

Then he trudged downstairs and shuffled into the bathroom.

Ever since Seo Ah mentioned the chocolate at Jeju Airport, he’d felt uneasy. He was bothered by Min Jung’s clear disapproval of Seo Ah, and Min Joon’s words kept echoing in his mind.

—“Hyung, relax your expression a bit. You’re scaring Seo Ah.”

—“Our Seo Ah may seem tough on the outside, but she’s actually very delicate—please be gentle with her.”

He’d been trying his best to be gentle since they got married, but his naturally stoic personality left him unsure how to do it properly or whether he was doing well at all. Last night, however, Seo Ah’s drunken words had reassured him.

—“Mr. Kang Ha Joon… I guess I don’t actually hate you that much? Right! That’s why you’re being so nice to me now. Otherwise, this wouldn’t be happening. The Kang Ha Joon I know would never do this.”

—“Still… there’s really no man quite like you, Kang Ha Joon…”

They say drunk words are honest words.

Yet just when he thought he was doing fine, seeing Seo Ah so happy with Min Joon made him feel utterly inadequate.

Now that he thought about it, she’d once said she felt happy just being with someone she liked.

—“I enjoy doing anything as long as it’s with people I care about. Even just chatting about nothing is great. Actually, even simply sharing the same space makes me happy—it gives me peace of mind, I guess you could say.”

When she was with Min Joon, she looked happier than with anyone else.
