Blackening the Affectionate Male Lead (Completed Main Story) - Side Story 4
Watching her children grow bigger day by day, Whitney wore a look of quiet satisfaction.
She’d eagerly awaited their birth when her belly had swelled, yet now that they’d arrived, she occasionally missed those tiny, adorable days when they slept peacefully. Currently, maids followed anxiously behind them, fretting endlessly over whether they might fall or get hurt.
“Elouise! Elio!”
Whitney urgently called out to the children, but they only laughed gleefully and dashed away even faster. Chester wore an expression of bewilderment, wondering whom exactly they took after to run around like that.
She remained silent at his remark. Most likely, they took after her. Whitney hadn’t been calm as a child, nor had she been the demure, graceful lady type. If she searched her memories of when her mother was still alive, she recalled being full of curiosity, constantly darting from place to place. She even remembered being quite jealous and loving to run around.
“Mama!”
Elouise came toddling over and threw herself into Whitney’s arms. Her hair, tied into twin braids, bounced cutely as she ran. Beads of sweat dotted her forehead from all that running.
Whitney pulled out a handkerchief, gently wiped away the sweat, lightly kissed Elouise’s soft cheeks, and settled her onto her lap.
Autumn had passed and winter was approaching, yet the children had run around so energetically in the chilly weather that they were sweating. Whitney couldn’t help but marvel repeatedly at their stamina. Even as she played with both children, she showed no sign of tiring.
Though she had to adjust her chest whenever she lifted them up, seeing how fondly and attentively they played together brought a natural smile to her lips. Watching Elio running about with Chester, Whitney shook her head.
“What will you do if he falls while running like that?”
No sooner had she worriedly glanced at them than Elio tumbled flat onto the floor. Chester, momentarily startled, simply picked his son up as if nothing had happened and dusted him off casually.
Only the maids stood anxiously shuffling their feet, watching the situation with nervous agitation. Elio lifted his head and waved toward Whitney with a big grin. Given how spirited he seemed, he appeared perfectly fine.
Only after the two children finally ran over to the table where Whitney sat did those trailing behind them breathe a sigh of relief.
“Did you have fun playing?”

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
