“You’re quite good at avoiding me.”

Chester found it strange that he hadn’t crossed paths with Whitney since that day. He sensed her presence, yet whenever he turned around, she was nowhere to be seen. It wasn’t as if she were playing hide-and-seek—it felt more like he was merely chasing after traces of her.

“Are you referring to the princess?”

“Yes. It’s odd—she never appears, despite this not being such a large place.”

“…It is large.”

Only Chester could claim the secondary palace wasn’t spacious. Their schedules differed, and it certainly seemed as though she was deliberately avoiding him.

Chester happened to notice Whitney hastily changing direction toward a path outside his line of sight, likely because she’d spotted him standing by the window, about to go for a stroll.

Perhaps because he was staring blankly at her from the window, she quietly concealed herself beneath the shade of a tree.

Huh?

He narrowed his brows as he quietly observed her behavior. He wasn’t sure why she’d suddenly started acting this way, but he clearly understood she wanted to avoid encountering him.

Did she truly believe she was hidden? Admittedly, her chestnut hair blended well with the trees, making her hard to spot.

If he kept his gaze fixed on her, she’d likely remain hidden behind the tree trunk indefinitely. Thus, Chester deliberately looked away.

“What happened between you two?”

“Nothing in particular.”

Aaron glanced out the window briefly before returning his focus to the documents.
