I’ll see you in a bit, but what is it? Eun Su answered the phone, tilting her head in confusion.

“Hello?”

—I’ll pick you up in front of your place later.

Ju Han’s voice came through, deeper and sleepier than usual in the morning. Eun Su’s eyes widened.

“Why go out of your way when it’s so close? I can just walk to the café myself.”

—No. I’ll come. See you later.

“Huh? Okay.”

Before she could even finish her dazed reply, the call ended. Now fully awake, Eun Su stared down at her phone and frowned.

What is this? It feels like we’re on an actual date or something.

For some reason, she felt oddly restless—an unfamiliar, jittery sensation. Come to think of it, she realized she hadn’t even been on anything resembling a date in ages.

‘What date? It’s just overtime.’

To shake off her idle thoughts, E, Su lightly shook her head and got out of bed, heading to the bathroom.

She planned to freshen up as usual and get ready exactly like any ordinary workday. Yet something kept nagging at her.

‘It’s not a date, but we’re still taking pictures—and those will air on TV. Won’t I look too plain? My makeup, my hair…’

But she also didn’t want to appear as if she’d tried too hard or made a big deal out of it. Back and forth she went in front of the mirror—picking up the curling iron then putting it down, reaching for a deeper lipstick shade then setting it aside—until she finally let out a wry laugh.
