A towel had been haphazardly draped over Pheon’s head as well—he’d already bathed and waited for her.

“Mine’s short, so a quick rub is enough.”

His hair, dark as ebony like his mother’s and thick enough to seem dense, had grown slightly longer since their wedding, making “a quick rub” insufficient—but he just grinned anyway.

Caella lowered her head. She felt ashamed—she’d eaten so hastily and then vomited so foolishly. Death and dignity were separate matters. This time, even if she died, she wanted to die proudly with her head held high—which made her feel even more embarrassed.

“The head chef prepared the meal especially for you today. I truly enjoyed it—you chose your chef very well.”

As Pheon dried her long, lustrous platinum hair with a towel, he assessed his wife’s nutritional condition. No matter how he looked at it, she needed to eat more.

“You seemed pleased too, but Lady Lavalle must have been even happier. I know you always miss the warm south while stuck in this cold place.”
