Wherever House of Monde stayed, newspapers and magazines were regularly delivered in abundance. Maids and servants even scrambled frantically to hurriedly buy the latest special editions.

Like any noblewoman, Duchess Monde and Beatrice usually enjoyed parties late into the night or until dawn, then rose late in the afternoon to have a late lunch while flipping through the piled-up newspapers.

The way the two read the papers was identical: they’d quickly skim the front page, look for gossip columns and feature articles about the latest noble trends and fashions, then roughly browse the rest.

Even if they weren’t interested, the people they met often appeared in the political and social sections.

“Oh my god, what is this? Are they insane?”

Beatrice’s elegant brow, previously relaxed as she sipped tea gracefully, twisted into a fierce scowl, and a harsh exclamation burst from her lips. She slammed her teacup down, set aside the newspaper she’d been reading, and began frantically rifling through the others.

Then, with an even darker expression, she grabbed the next newspaper. Seeing it was just as bad, she noisily flipped the pages as if tearing them, and immediately opened a weekly women’s magazine.

“Are they all out of their minds?”

She flipped through the weekly magazine as if about to rip it apart, then finally threw it down in frustration.

“Oh! You startled me!”

Duchess Monde, who had been dozing off at the dining table nursing a hangover, suddenly jerked her head up.

“What’s gotten into you? Why are you in such a mood this early in the morning?”

“Just look at this.”

Duchess Monde, clutching her pounding head, picked up the weekly magazine her daughter had thrown and began reading. Though she frowned from the headache, she soon sipped warm tea and read the article with interest.
