The departure hall was bustling with passengers shopping at duty-free stores.

Luxury handbags, French wine—the faces of people clutching numerous shopping bags were brimming with energy. Tae Sang glanced at these passengers with indifferent eyes, then quickly checked the time.

Fifteen minutes remained until boarding. Heading to the lounge seemed bothersome, yet lingering near the gate felt awkward too.

He wasn’t particularly interested, but perhaps he should browse the duty-free shops anyway. His gaze drifted absently—and at the end of the shopping street lined with luxury boutiques, a small grocery store caught his eye.

His feet naturally turned in that direction. He didn’t actually need anything, but, as always, he felt inexplicably drawn.

Tin cases shaped like the Eiffel Tower, cookie boxes decorated with the French flag.

Tae Sang swiftly scanned the shelves, picking items out selectively—until suddenly, a faint smile crossed his face upon spotting something.

Shell-shaped sponge cakes: madeleines.

“Do you like madeleines?”

It was Secretary Kim who asked—the first time they were traveling together on a business trip. He had mentioned having a child in kindergarten, and his hands indeed looked quite full.

“Yes. I do.”

“I assumed you weren’t fond of sweets—this is rather unexpected.”

Perhaps due to growing up with his grandfather, Tae Sang had never particularly liked sweet foods since childhood—let alone snacks or cookies.

But madeleines were different. Every time their sweetness spread across his tongue, memories from that day seemed to bloom at the tip of his tongue.
