“Since there’s no flight tomorrow, let’s rest until late.”
“How can you say that. I’ll leave after a while.”
“I don’t know what’s there, but you can take out and eat what’s in the refrigerator.”
“Yes.”
“You can take out and use whatever you need.”
“Yes….”
Could it be anxiety about the military man who had been guarding her all day suddenly disappearing? Her heart gradually tightened at his words that seemed to bid farewell.
Da Jeong couldn’t erase her confused feelings. She thought it was uncomfortable and awkward being together, but why was she so worried that he was leaving?
Unable to continue speaking, she just managed to nod her head.
“Go to sleep early.”
That single succinct sentence was all he said. She thought he might at least change clothes before leaving, but he didn’t seem to think so.
“Excuse me, there….!”
For a brief moment as Tae Sang passed by, Da Jeong unconsciously grabbed his jacket.
“…?”
Turning his head to identify the heavier hem of his clothes, Tae Sang stopped quietly in his tracks. His curious gaze was directed at Da Jeong’s face.
Da Jeong’s face was flushed with embarrassment. Not knowing why she did it herself, she just widened her eyes like a rabbit. Frozen like that, blinking her eyes, Tae Sang opened his mouth first.
“Do you need anything else?”
“What? No, no. It’s just….”
Da Jeong, startled, let go of his jacket. Then she tightly clutched her hand behind her back as if restraining it. Her throat felt as dry as if it was burning.
Da Jeong decided to answer his question first. It seemed much easier than finding a justifiable reason for her action.
“I, I don’t need anything. You’ve bought enough medicine to last a lifetime, and also… You said I could use everything in this big house, so I don’t need anything.”
Da Jeong said this, thinking about the bulging bag in her bag.

On the way home, Tae Sang stopped by a pharmacy and bought a bunch of medicine and bandages. Despite the enormous quantity that made it seem as if he had cleared out an entire store, he still looked serious.
“I bought everything that looked necessary… there might be something missing.”
“Why did you buy so much?”
“I don’t know what’s good.”
“So you bought everything? Even a first aid kit wouldn’t be this well stocked!”
Da Jeong let out a weak laugh without realizing it.
Then Tae Sang looked at Da Jeong’s face, putting strength into the brows of his forehead. It seemed as if the parched expression in his black eyes urged her to continue speaking.
Driven by his momentum, Da Jeong opened her mouth.
“I was wondering where you would go to sleep at this late hour. And why are you leaving just like that, without even changing your clothes…..”
It was impossible to tell who was worrying about whom. Tae Sang could find a place to stay anywhere in the vast land of Seoul.
Furthermore, the one who would have more to worry about when sharing the same space with him was myself. Da Jeong, who was spilling foolish worries, closed her mouth as if muted.
“I’ll stay at the Hyo Sung Hotel. Pajamas will be prepared in the room, and you can leave the clothes you’re wearing now for laundry service.”
“Ah……”
Da Jeong belatedly remembered that the Hyo Sung Group also operated a hotel. It was only natural that he didn’t mention it, as it was like home to him.
“That’s true. You can go there. … But you might be tired driving again at this time.”
“I’m fine. I’m not usually a long sleeper.”
“Ah, reservation. Can we make a reservation all of a sudden? I mean, there won’t be no room at all, but the deluxe rooms are always popular……”
“Any room is fine.”
“Ah…… I see.”
Da Jeong, who had been chattering like a chick, awkwardly closed her mouth. Then a quiet silence descended on the vast space. Da Jeong lowered her head slowly and opened her mouth with a slender voice.

“Well, then, goodbye……”
“Do you wish I hadn’t left?”
Tae Sang asked with a voice filled with certainty.
Her large eyes shaking uneasily and her pink lips constantly being sucked into her mouth. Her anxious expression clearly said, “Don’t go.”
I wanted to clench the small hand holding the hem of my clothes. For a moment, such a crazy thought crossed my mind.
“I asked… if you’d like me to stay here.”
“No! That’s not what I mean. I’m sorry, really sorry. It bothers me to kick out the owner… and it must be a hassle to go out again at this late hour……”
It was a rambling speech, but in the midst of it, I finally understood my actions.
Holding onto Tae Sang was a feeling of guilt. An uncomfortable feeling towards the person who takes on everything and then leaves suddenly. I couldn’t explain it any other way.
Once my thoughts were neatly sorted out, my heart felt a lot lighter. Da Jeong looked up at Tae Sang and carefully opened her mouth.
“If it’s okay with you, Deputy… you don’t have to leave today.”
“……”
“It’s not like I’m giving you permission or anything, it’s originally your house… I just want you to feel comfortable.”
Tae Sang looked into Da Jeong’s face with a cautious expression.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
