Caught in the chaos of preparing to welcome passengers, Hwa Young, who was in charge of the airplane’s galley radio, brought up a topic of gossip.
“Senior, did you hear that story?”
“What story?”
“Our airline’s vice president, who looks perfectly fine… apparently got dumped.”
“Dumped?”
Jin Sun Mi, the head of the office, tilted her head slightly as she asked. Despite being well into her forties, her makeup and dyed hair made her look roughly in her thirties.
“Yes. He was only engaged for a week, so it was super quick.”
“Wow… even a conglomerate gets dumped.”
“That’s what I’m saying. It was initially a promise between families, but looking at the broken engagement…”
Hwa Young leaned in close, whispering in a quiet voice.
“Maybe she had a secret lover. They broke up due to their status difference but couldn’t forget each other in the end, something like that kind of story?”
“Hwa Young, you watch too many dramas!”
The office head playfully hit Hwa Young’s shoulder, letting out a highpitched laugh. Her unrestrained laughter echoed through the airplane like the cawing of a seagull.
“Sigh…”
Amidst the idle chatter that was echoing loudly in the plane, a small sigh was mixed in.
She was feeling as if she wanted to split her body in half, but what was the point if the two became one?
Feeling frustrated, Da Jeong secretly glanced at her seniors. But the pair of chatterboxes was now sipping their coffee and continuing their conversation in full swing.
“They say he didn’t let women anywhere near him, I guess even the chairman was desperate.”
“Nah, it’s not about keeping them away, he just has high standards.”
“No, I’m telling you. Once a female secretary handed him his coat and accidentally touched his shoulder…”
“Senior, the amenity setting is done.”
Seeing that tea time showed no signs of ending, Da Jeong gently interjected. Her silent pressure for them to do some work was clear, but Hwa Young only nodded slightly without getting up from her seat.
“Yep. Good job, Da Jeong. Please finish the rest too.”
“…Yes.”
After a brief response, Da Jeong turned around and muttered her usual magical mantra.
‘Endure, bear with it. With this flight, I can pay for Young Jin’s lesson fees twice.’
Her younger brother, who had shown talent for the piano since childhood, was attending a prestigious arts high school that only geniuses could enter.

The abbreviation for the arts high school was ‘Yego’. But to Da Jeong, who was her brother’s only guardian, Yego meant a school that robbed her pocket.
Exorbitant tuition fees, dormitory costs, plus the private lessons needed for admission tests. To cover all these costs, Da Jeong had to tighten her already thin belt.
“Where’s the office head?”
When Da Jeong was memorizing spells with the intensity to even break through Hogwarts’ entrance exams, an onground staff member approached her to speak.
“That’s your jump seat.”
“Could you pass on this updated Fclass passenger list?”
“An update? Alright. Got it.”
She was certain that the first class checkin had concluded with two passengers. Yet, an unfamiliar name caught her eye as she scanned the list.
CHA/TAESANG MR VVIP
‘Cha… Tae Sang?’
It was a familiar name. And moreover, a VVIP. A chilling premonition ran down her spine and she turned instinctively.
“Manager, we have a VVIP in first class today!”
“What?!”
All ease disappeared from the manager’s face, who was leisurely fixing her lipstick until then. Rushing over with the floor thudding under her feet, she almost snatched the list from Da Jeong’s hands.
A moment later, her face stiffened upon confirming the name.
“We’re… we’re doomed…”
“Why? Who’s coming?”
“A divorcee.”
The manager’s muttering echoed in the air.

Shortly after takeoff, the seatbelt sign was turned off. Hwa Young, who had been waiting, stood up from her seat, parted the curtain briskly, and observed the ‘divorcee.’
“Wow… he is seriously goodlooking.”
“Shush! Hwa Young, if you want your head chopped off, keep running your mouth!”
The manager, who had appeared out of nowhere, dashed in and pulled the curtain closed.
“My… head?”
“Yes. Do you know how many heads have been chopped off by that man? Be alert. If you’re caught slipping today, a summons to the office will be the least of your worries.”
Thinking it a good time to make a point, she beckoned to Da Jeong, who was standing at a distance.
“Everyone listen up. This is not just any VVIP, it’s ‘that vice president.’ Be extremely careful about everything even a single speck of dust in the bathroom, the angle of a mug handle. Prudence should be your priority.”
“Yes, manager.”
“And today’s meal service is…”
Don’t make a sound when walking in the cabin, report all conversation content without fail, including absurd requests. As she delivered this lengthy speech, a thread of curiosity sprouted within her.
‘Who exactly is he…?’
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
