The two stopped by a department store to buy a gift for Sun Ok, then arrived in Cheonan earlier than usual.

Thanks to the roads being clear, they made good time—only to be told that Sun Ok had stepped out of the house.

“What should we do? We only need to wait about an hour.”

Apparently, since Tae Han had come along too, she was preparing a grand meal and was busy cooking at the side dish shop where she worked.

Though Sun Ok told them to go inside and wait, the two left the Hanwoo beef and cake in the fridge and stepped back out.

Though it was a place precious to Yeon Woo, she couldn’t leave Tae Han waiting for long in a house without even a sofa.

“Is this the school you graduated from?”

They decided to take a walk around the neighborhood.

It was called a “walk,” but in truth, it was more like sightseeing around the town.

Tae Han said he was curious about the neighborhood where she’d grown up. Although his company had a branch office in Cheonan, he’d always come just for work and returned straight after, so he’d never seen the place where she’d been raised.

“Yes. It’s been a long time since I’ve come here myself.”

It was a rare visit to their alma mater. In fact, Yeon Woo realized it was her first time back since graduation—perhaps she’d just been too busy living life.

The school seemed unchanged. The only difference was that the small hole in the fence she’d used whenever she was about to be late had disappeared, replaced now by a sturdy wall.

The old trees around the sports field and the podium she used to stare at during morning assemblies, bored out of her mind, were all exactly as she remembered.

“It feels strange. I thought I’d completely forgotten this place, but seeing it again now, I realize that’s not true…”
