Olivia, or rather Han Ji-an, was skilled in martial arts and shooting. Although she couldn’t overpower men of larger stature, with a weapon, it was a different story.
Olivia grabbed her racket like a cudgel, and Anne raised her umbrella like a long sword.
The tense pair synchronized their breathing and exchanged glances.
One.
Two.
Three, and they flung the door open.
“Are you coming in now?”
“…”
A woman in a maid’s outfit stopped what she was doing and bowed her head. Surprisingly, it was Olivia and Anne who were more startled. Olivia, regaining her composure first, asked Anne.
“Did you hang a sign requesting cleaning?”
“No, Miss.”
Olivia and Anne slowly turned their heads towards the woman.
“I was sent by Mr. Lancelot. I’m Mary, assigned to assist you during your stay here. Please take care of me.”
The woman bowed deeply again.
Olivia surveyed the neatly tidied room. Clothes, slippers, bedding, and the dresser – everything was impeccably organized.
Rather than feeling grateful, Olivia was displeased by the intrusion into her private space.
She approached the woman after placing her racket on the table. Olivia’s scrutinizing gaze now turned to the woman.
“Is this service provided to all guests?”
“It’s only for VIP guests.”
The woman, tall and lean with deep brown hair and eyes, replied in a formal yet rigid tone.
Olivia, slightly surprised, widened her eyes and said.
“I’m new here.”
“The criteria for VIPs are determined by Mr. Lancelot.”
“Is that so? Then I’m very grateful.”
There was no particular indication from the woman. No signs of being caught doing something in the room or hiding something.
Yet, Olivia didn’t want strangers coming and going in her space.
“Could you please convey a message to him?”
“Please go ahead.”
“Thank him for his kind consideration, but I politely decline. Please let him know.”
The woman, for the first time, showed a flicker of emotion as she raised her head to meet Olivia’s eyes.
“Have I made any mistakes? Or perhaps, is there something about the room condition that you’re not satisfied with?”
“It’s perfectly fine. There’s nothing to fault.”
“Then why… May I ask the reason?”
“I just want to rest comfortably.”
“…”
The woman hesitated for a brief moment before bowing her head.
“Understood. Then, please have a comfortable rest.”
The maid left carefully, making sure not to turn her back.
Anne first went to the dressing room to check the hidden compartment at the bottom of the trunk. She verified that everything was in place – the guarantee certificate from the International Bank, the checkbook, IDs, and passports. Seeing this, Olivia smiled and said,
“Anne. The person was sent by the hotel representative himself. It’s unlikely they would do such things, right?”
“It’s always good to check.”
Anne believed in the saying, ‘Always look before you leap.’ Even if it had been the King of Brite himself who sent someone, Anne would have done the same.
“Alright. I’m hungry, Anne. I’ll have the same order as Miss Elaine.”
“Okay, Miss.”
Anne left to place the room service order at the restaurant, and Olivia headed to the bathroom.
After a quick shower, Olivia, wrapped in a flannel robe, came out to the bedroom. Standing by the window that offered a splendid view of Litten city, she wrapped her wet hair in a towel, patting it dry when there was a knock on the door.
‘She’s early.’
Olivia, crossing the room to the door, opened it with a broad smile.
“Welcome, I…?”
Her eyes widened in momentary shock. It wasn’t Elaine.
Why are you here…?
Edgar Lancelot was looking down at Olivia with an interested gaze.
The woman was in a robe.
The thin flannel material tantalizingly revealed the delicate yet voluptuous figure of the woman.
Between the overlapped front of the robe, her fair, slightly raised chest was visible, with dark brown hair, damp from water, adding to the allure.
To Edgar, women were nothing more than objects for satisfying desires, nothing more or less.
That’s why he never put special effort into warming his bed for the night. Not really.
Now, with a slightly different or perhaps more intense desire, he found himself unable to take his eyes off Olivia Blanchett’s body.
Her cheeks flushed, spreading to her forehead and neck, and then bang! The door closed.
“Wait! Just wait a moment, please!”
Olivia’s voice, leaving behind a faint rose scent, urgently came from beyond the door.
A subtle smile curled on Edgar’s lips.
An Indifferent Woman is the One Men Desire the Most
One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.
This novel has the following triggers, so if you’re sensitive to these, please don’t read:
1. The female lead has had many relationships, but she treated each one seriously and broke up properly.
It’s just that the men unilaterally pestered her incessantly. For the female lead, when she doesn’t like someone anymore, she simply doesn’t like them.
(This applies to her relationships with Male Lead 1, 2, 3, and 4 as well, but she’s loyal in each 1-on-1 relationship!)
2. In this novel, Male Lead 2 and the female lead kiss in a car, and Male Lead 1 sees it and beats up Male Lead 2.
The female lead calls the police and sends both Male Lead 1 and 2 to the police station! Male Lead 1 begs the female lead not to break up with him.
3. Male Lead 1 has a gentle appearance but an obsessive personality.
Male Lead 2 has a delicate and soft appearance, slightly green tea-like (two-faced).
Male Lead 3 is a youthful college student and a smart person who has secretly liked the female lead for a long time.
Male Lead 4 is the female lead’s father’s special assistant, a business elite with deep, hidden thoughts.
4. At the beginning of this novel, the female lead has already broken up with Male Lead 1 (Chapter 4) and gotten back together with Male Lead 2 (ex-boyfriend).
5. Enter with caution if you have triggers!!!
