Olivia felt awkward.

The woman hadn’t noticed her yet, so if Olivia quietly retraced her steps, it would be as if nothing had happened. She didn’t want to bump into her again and cause or receive any more hurt.

Despite this, curiosity nagged at her. Why was the woman sitting here alone? Her companions were enjoying their meal at Gran Bleu. Olivia’s eyes caught a glimpse of a white handkerchief tightly clutched in the woman’s hands, standing out against her dark blue skirt.

‘Was she crying?’

Olivia decided to leave her curiosity there. Yesterday’s incident was still bothering her. Probably, her revelation had affected the woman. This thought brought a feeling of guilt, making it difficult for Olivia to walk away.

“My lady.”

Ann whispered as if urging Olivia to leave. Her eyes seemed to be saying the same.

Just as Olivia and Ann were about to silently turn around.

“Have you finished your amusing spectacle?”

Startled as if caught in a wrongdoing, they slowly turned to face the woman. She was sitting up straight, looking directly at them.

Olivia took a short breath and approached the bench.

The woman looking up at Olivia had swollen red lips, as if she had been biting them while sobbing. Her eyes were also red-rimmed. The woman’s eyelids trembled slightly as she glared.

“Hello.”

“Does it look like I’m fine?”

It was a foolish opening line.

“Feeling triumphant, are you?”

Olivia quietly received the woman’s response.

“Such tactics are common in these circles. Today, it was just my chair that was missing.”

The woman spoke in an angry tone. Olivia remembered the women at Gran Bleu’s terrace, laughing and enjoying their meal.

“All thanks to you.”

The woman was shaking, desperately holding back tears. Despite feeling sorry, Olivia didn’t particularly feel sympathetic.

“Thanks to all of you. I always found myself without a seat too.”

Olivia spoke emotionlessly, looking down at the woman.

The woman tried to retort, but there was a long silence between them, as light and shadows danced along the swaying branches.

Their gazes were taut, like a stretched thread.

“You’ve changed.”

Elaine admitted defeat, softening her intense gaze and chuckling lightly.

“How did you know that necklace was a fake?”

“I’ve seen the real one.”

“……It’s at the Duke’s house. I’ve been fooled again.”

Elaine exhaled sharply, her nose turning red.

“My grandfather’s land, sold without my knowledge. When confronted, he couldn’t speak. I had suspicions about him seeing other women. Denial, perhaps. Fear. It’s scary, isn’t it?”

Elaine wet her lips and took a deep breath.

“On our anniversary, he gave me that necklace. Claimed he sold the land for it. Tears in his eyes, powerless husband. Ha!”

She wiped her nose again.

“I’d always talked about wanting it. He remembered. I was touched. How stupid I was, laughing at him. Unaware that I was lining another woman’s pockets.”

“The fault lies with the person who deceived.”

“The deceived is also at fault. I should have checked. Got it appraised. Simple. But I was afraid. Knowing the truth meant the end of my marriage. I cowardly ran away, never expecting to face the truth like this.”

“I’m sorry about that.”

“Don’t apologize. I won’t either.”

She forced a thin smile, trying to control her emotions.

“But. Could you introduce me?”

“To whom?”

Olivia blinked, puzzled.

“To that capable lawyer.”

Elaine looked at Olivia with sparkling eyes, her gaze earnest.

“……”

Olivia fell silent for a moment before sighing, a beat too late in realization.

“Oh!”
“If you ever need a capable lawyer, please contact me. I’ll introduce you. You never know with people.”

It was a statement Olivia had made, not wanting to be overpowered, but it seemed Elaine had taken it to heart.

Confused, Olivia stared at Elaine in silence for a while.

In truth, there was no capable lawyer.

Olivia had wanted nothing but a divorce. She had to quietly exit the stage before Johann Leopold met Clara.

Wrapped in anxiety that Johann might not let her go, Olivia feared he might become obsessed with her, as was often the case in such stories.

But to her surprise, he had let her go without hesitation and even generously added a substantial alimony, presumably for the sake of his reputation.

“Actually…”

Olivia hesitated, searching for the right words.

“There is no capable lawyer.”

“No lawyer?”

“That’s right. There isn’t one.”

Elaine looked incredulous, blinking her large eyes. She suddenly got up and looped her arm through Olivia’s.

“Let’s not stand here. Let’s go somewhere and have tea. I have so many questions.”

Elaine was serious about her divorce. Tired of Rondeau’s incompetent lawyers who settled for meager alimony despite hefty fees, she desperately sought advice from an experienced divorcée.

Especially from Olivia Blanchett, who had managed to secure an extraordinary amount of alimony.

The trio left the grove and entered the first tea house they saw. Piano music flowed from the phonograph in the quiet tearoom.

Male lead is a clingy little husband

One-line summary: The male lead is initially an arrogant, noble, love-deprived brat, later a cute, clingy, scheming little jealous one.

Introduction:

One day, Lu Yuner’s soul transmigrates into a female-dominant world. She enters the Imperial Academy and takes up the position of a doctoral instructor, teaching classes and grading schoolwork.

One day, she encounters the young prince Su Qingwan secretly skipping class from the male academy.

As a result, Su Qingwan is punished.

From then on, Su Qingwan sees Lu Yuner as a “thorn in his side”.

But before long, this “thorn” becomes the person he cherishes most, and he goes to great lengths to win Lu Yuner’s affection.

Mini scene 1:

One day, the sun is high in the sky but Su Qingwan still hasn’t gotten up for class.

Servant Xiaoyuan: “Young prince, it’s time for class. You’ll be late otherwise.”

Su Qingwan says arrogantly: “I’m not going. I am the esteemed prince, my status is so noble, why should I suffer this hardship? Besides, isn’t learning all this just to please women? Hmph, they’re not worthy!”

Mini scene 2:

After Su Qingwan falls for someone, he completely changes. He no longer skips class and diligently learns how to be a good husband and father. But he discovers that Sister Yuner is always surrounded by admirers.

Drunk and overcome with jealousy one day, he clings to Lu Yuner, crying beautifully like a pear blossom in the rain.

Su Qingwan: “Qingwan likes Sister Yuner.”

Lu Yuner: “Young prince, you’re drunk.”

Su Qingwan: “Qingwan isn’t drunk. Qingwan likes Sister Yuner, likes you so much, likes you to bits…” Before he can finish, Lu Yuner’s eyes flash with emotion and she leans in closer.

[Reading Guide]

1. The female lead is gentle, gracious, humble and polite but not weak. The male lead is initially an arrogant, noble, love-deprived brat, later a cute, clingy, scheming little jealous one.

2. 1v1, a bit torturous in the beginning but definitely sweet later on.
