“Oh, you startled me.”

Once at Jun’s voice, and again when I saw what he was wearing.

Jun was wearing a navy hoodie similar in design to the white one I had on. Normally, Jun mostly wore suits. Unlike his usual self, dressed casually like this, Jun gave off a more youthful, boyish vibe—so much so that he looked even more like the twenty-year-old Jun from nine years ago.

The very look I had fallen head over heels for.

“You weren’t startled—you were mad.”

Jun’s face, staring straight at me, twisted petulantly. I stared right back at him, just as stubbornly, refusing to let even a hint of sentimentality show.

“You wouldn’t startle me if you didn’t suddenly grab my hat from behind.”

“You wouldn’t have grabbed my hat if you hadn’t just walked past me like you barely noticed me.”

His eyes, fixed on me, brimmed with clear resentment. Just as I started to feel unfairly treated by Jun looking down at me with furrowed brows, his expression softened, and the corners of his lips lifted into a faint smile.

“I missed you, Lee Ha Ru.”

Perhaps it was the breeze carried on the sunlight weaving through Jun’s hair—but Jun, gazing at me, shimmered brilliantly, as if urging me to confirm right now whether the Jun standing before me was truly real or just a dream.

“It feels like a dream.”

When a scene you’ve dreamed of so often suddenly appears in reality, it becomes impossible to tell dream from truth.

“It’s not a dream.”

Jun’s clear, warm voice, coming not from the phone but right in front of me, tugged at my heart. Smiling faintly, Jun took one step closer to me.
