“Why are you shaking like this?”

Thinking it was because of the chilly night air, Jun pulled my body even closer into his embrace. He gently stroked my back with his large, warm hand.

“It’s not because I’m cold. I’m just… so shocked right now…”

Jun’s sigh fell over the top of my head.

“Ha Ru, I’m sorry.”

Jun’s voice was trembling.

“I’m the one who’s sorry. I kept pushing you to tell the truth, to show me your real feelings, cornering you without mercy. I’m sorry.”

At those gentle words, a wave of grievance surged up inside me. The tears I had been holding back seized the chance and started pouring out. I wanted to wipe them away, but I couldn’t move an inch in Jun’s tight embrace.

Jun’s shoulder grew damp from my tears.

“I couldn’t help it either. Nine years ago, even just brushing against that wound made you cry in pain. You kept avoiding my eyes, as if begging me to let you go, barely breathing. What more could I have done back then?”

My tear ducts must have broken. The wet stains on Jun’s shirt, soaked with his scent, only grew larger.

“From nine years ago until now, there has never been a moment when you weren’t in this heart. No—there was only you, so full that no one else could ever fit.”

There were words I wanted to say, but my shoulders kept shaking, and I couldn’t get them out. As if telling my trembling shoulders it was okay now, Jun softly wrapped his arms around me. The warm heat from his embrace seeped through my entire body.

“Don’t you get it when you see me still going on about my first love at this age? I’m already done for. This heart just won’t listen to me. For nine whole years, I only looked for you. So now, if it’s not you, I can’t do it. Without you, Ha Ru, I really can’t.”

“I went on about my first love a lot too. Though I couldn’t make a whole movie out of it like you.”
