It seemed like nonsense to intentionally not put avocado in an avocado sandwich. Still not understanding the situation, I asked Jun.
“Why?”
“You like avocado more than me. So, I didn’t want to give it to you. Avocado, which you like.”
Jun emphasized ‘which you like’ particularly. Sitting opposite me with a nonchalant face, Jun continued to quietly gaze at me. A disappointed laughter escaped.
“Kim Jun.”
“Maybe I should change my name. Kim Avocado.”
“Pfft, Kim Jun…”
“You keep calling me by my full name just because I changed it.”
“N-no, it’s not like that…”
“I know. I just said it. I know everything you like the most. I confirmed it all last night.”
“Oh…”

Seeing me embarrassed, Jun chuckled.
“I know everything. But when you say you like avocado more than me, that it’s your favorite…”
Now, Jun seemed a bit embarrassed by his own words, avoiding my eyes and trying to wrap up the conversation.
“Anyway, that’s how it is. Put yourself in my shoes. You wouldn’t even give me bread, would you?”
What should I say to you, who is jealous even of avocados?
As I looked again at the Ciabatta bread, now devoid of avocados, the smile I was about to let go of came back.
“Cute.”
“What?”
“I said you’re cute. Even the way you get jealous and make excuses. How much do you like me to be jealous of vegetables? Cute, Kim Jun. Too much.”
I gave him a soft, playful smile. However, without warning, Jun approached me closely and kissed me on the lips. In a moment that lasted only briefly, he gazed at me closely, then closed his eyes and pressed his lips against mine a little more deeply before slowly pulling away.

“Now, I won’t get jealous anymore. You and I are the only ones who can kiss.”
I felt my ears warming up involuntarily.
“Do you call that an explanation?”
“Well, calling it an explanation is not enough. It’s enlightenment. Realization that I am one step above that avocado.”
Frowning, I stared at Jun. Reading my silly expression, Jun burst into laughter, stood up, and brought a plate that had been hidden by the water dispenser.
On the plate lay a sandwich filled with vibrant green avocados between the slices of bread.
Taking advantage of my gaze shifting to the plate, Jun, in a move, slightly kissed my cheek while bringing the dish he had just brought.
“Eat a lot. Our day.”
Taking advantage of my attention being on the plate, Jun, in a move, slightly kissed my cheek while bringing the dish he had just brought.
“I feel like my lips and cheeks are going to wear out. Someone keeps kissing me all the time.”

“It’s not like that. Are you okay here? And here too.”
Jun said, alternating between my lips and cheeks. His cute gesture made me burst into a giggling laughter. To prevent Jun from getting any ideas, I quickly picked up the bread he had brought and took a bite.
Looking at the vibrant green trees swaying in the wind outside, the feeling of the bread being filled with them was refreshing and healthy.
“You got it all over your lips.”
At that moment, Jun reached out, wiped off the dressing on my lips, and then took it into his mouth.
“For today. Drink a lot of milk too. You need to grow taller.”
Receiving nagging reminiscent of the mornings during middle school from my mom at this age, I wondered if he was really sincere.
“I’m somewhat satisfied when I see your height, so it’s okay.”
“Everything is just self-satisfaction.”
“Moreover, no matter how much milk I drink, I won’t grow taller now.”
“You’re beautiful even if you don’t grow taller.”

I don’t know what to say in moments like this. I blurted out meaningless words in a sense of awkwardness.
“…So, are you telling me not to drink it?”
I held the cup of milk and glanced at Jun.
“Just look at me.”
In the midst of meaningless words, Jun pulled out a meaningful one.
“Yeah. I’ll only look at you.”
“What did you say? I didn’t hear.”
“Don’t play around. You heard me.”
“I didn’t hear.”
“You heard me.”

“I didn’t hear it. Why is saying it again so difficult for you?”
“Because it’s a lie.”
“No, it’s not. Hurry up and tell me. Again.”
“Oh, really…”
Amidst the back-and-forth of words, our pleasant laughter overlapped.
Perhaps a happy night comes in a set with a happy morning. Jun looked at me intently, raising his eyebrows as if asking why. I just smiled and tilted my head without explaining the thought I just had.
Because I just realized that.
Simply because it’s you. Because the person next to me is you. So, I just realized that every night and morning spent with you are all happy.
A peaceful morning. A rare moment of Jun, who couldn’t seem to find peace, having a leisurely morning. So, we sat side by side by the window, able to feel the morning breeze.
The sunlight was rising higher, waiting for the curtain of sunlight to cover the window, Jun said casually.

“Yi Haru, I’ll be going back today. To Korea.”
“…Yeah.”
I said in a tiny voice that was almost inaudible to Jun.
“Leaving me alone.”
“Yeah… leaving you alone.”
Jun exhaled a sigh as if empty laughter.
“Before leaving me alone, is there anything you want to do today?”
“Um…”
There is, but if I say it now, you won’t be particularly happy.
“What’s there? Why are you like that? Just say it.”

It’s too obvious that if I say it directly, you won’t want to hear it.
“Look at Yi Haru’s expression. That makes me more curious. What’s going on? Just say it. Who knows, I might high-five you for having such a great idea.”
“No. You definitely won’t. I know.”
“So, say it now. Haru, you have to tell me something today for me to hear your answer.”
As Jun’s words began to be faintly buried in the rustling sound of leaves, I finally spoke.
“I… I want to watch the movie you made. That movie. With you, together.”
At that moment, a heavy sigh, like the clear air that Jun’s lips had enclosed, rushed out between Jun’s lips.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
