Two days ago.
Jihoon and Minseo, who came to the interview room for the final interview, were glancing at each other while checking the time on their watches.
“Hey, Minseo.”
“Yes?”
“I came here because I heard that the final interview is in this meeting room, right? The director might be a little late, don’t you think?”
“Oh, I made sure when I came in, and there was a sign next to it. It should be here. Maybe the director is running a little late.”
“Well, 20 minutes might be a bit much.”
Jihoon flashed a playful smile at Minseo. Then, he began to fill his mind again, dispelling the tension that had momentarily left him.
As time quietly moved in the direction it was supposed to go, the front door of the meeting room creaked open. Through that opening, Jun entered.
Jun stood up and looked at Jihoon and Minseo, who were bowing, then glanced down without much expression and said, “Jihoon and Minseo, today is the day of the final interview.”

The sentence itself was not a problem. Jihoon and Minseo were indeed the only authorized attendees in this meeting room, and the reason for the three of them gathering today was to conduct the final interview.
However, only Jun’s appearance seemed out of place in this setting arranged for him. It was a deeply obscure look that was difficult to gauge. His gaze lingered only on the floor, not Jihoon and Minseo. And the profound silence he brought with him.
Soon, Jun’s soft voice began to spread low over the quiet meeting room.
“I’m not sure if I’m qualified to conduct interviews for actors who will portray the memories of a clear first love.”
At Jun’s unexpected remark, Jihoon and Minseo began exchanging glances, unable to find a suitable response. Faced with each other’s eyes, they could only read confusion. Slowly, they turned their heads back to Jun.
With just one word uttered, Jun’s eyes were reddened. Perhaps sensing the lingering warmth in my eyes, Jun quickly cleared his throat.
Just for a moment. The meeting room was once again locked in silent tension. A profound silence that seemed to silence every uttered word.
In a low voice that barely disturbed the heavy air, Jun said, “It’s a movie about the beginning of first love, but I keep returning to the end, the last part of first love. Do you know the feeling of wanting to stay at the beginning but being constantly pulled down to the end? No, maybe only I know. Am I the only one being discarded to the end and then returning to the beginning, only to be pulled down again? Am I really the only one? Ha…”
Jun’s face, holding a clenched fist as if trying to hide trembling fingertips, was subtly distorted. He steadfastly held on, as if determined not to be swayed by that momentum. The patience of someone who knows from experience that once that line is crossed, they will be swept away in the uncontrollable whirlwind of emotions.
Jihoon and Minseo were holding their breaths, fearing that the precarious balance they had tenuously maintained with just a single word might collapse.
“But Jihoon and Minseo will portray both the beginning and the end of first love in this movie, so my advice may not be unnecessary. Well, calling it advice is funny. Just, as someone who has only experienced love with the person who was my first love throughout my life, it’s more of an enlightenment. There is something like that, but…”

Jun, as if choked up, tilted his slightly parted lips from side to side and slowly released them as if regaining control.
“First love means getting all the emotions you can feel while in love from that person. Sometimes people say first love is just the first love, but I think differently. It’s not just a matter of order. The person who makes you feel emotions that you can’t feel with anyone else but the one you love. The beginning of all those emotions. So, the person who determines the essence of the emotion called love.”
A gentle wave passed briefly over the faces of Jihoon and Minseo, who had occupied a quiet corner of the space with perplexed expressions from the beginning. And the trembling that had just begun to invade their chests.
Like the subtle tremor in Jun’s voice now.
“As the emotions experienced while loving someone for the first time are the purest, they are easily magnified. Whether at the beginning or the end of love. And…”
The sentence trailing off into silence extended long and soundless.
“…tragedy happens right here. If you can’t escape in time from that radius between the beginning and the end.”
Jun’s eyes began to blur slightly in the empty air.
“Because after experiencing love with her, no one else can be loved.”
As if trying to hide the reddened eyes, Jun abruptly stood up from his seat. Without giving a single glance to the two actors looking at him, he headed straight for the door. Then, right in front of the door, he stood still, showing his back, and spoke slowly.

“Jihoon and Minseo, I’ll rely on you. Please portray the end of the first love of twenty-year-old Jun and Haru, who didn’t know the end of their first love. It’s a truly precious memory for me.”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
