Acts We Shouldn't Do (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
Moreover, there was nothing to fault him on professionally.
True to his words on his first day as Managing Director—“When it’s time to work, we work; when it’s time to play, we play. I work so I can play”—he always finished his assigned tasks thoroughly.
He was skilled, eloquent, but above all, exceptionally sharp when it came to work—so much so that he never made his colleagues suffer needlessly.
“This is interesting. I’ll need to look it over more carefully. You may go.”
“Yes. Then I’ll prepare for the visit to the main house in 30 minutes.”
“Oh, was that scheduled for today?”
“Yes.”
Tae Seo, clearly reluctant to go and momentarily smoothing his eyebrows, set down the ice pack.
“I’ll leave in 30 minutes. Until then, I don’t want to be disturbed.”
“Yes, understood.”
“And thank you for the report. Your hard work is appreciated. I’ll be counting on you.”
Executive Director Jang, whose abilities had just been acknowledged and efforts commended, left the Managing Director’s office. Holding a tray with empty plates and cups, she headed toward the pantry and gave instructions to a secretary stationed at the secretarial office.
“Thirty minutes. He wants no interruptions. I’ll take a short break too.”
“Yes, please rest, Executive Director Jang.”
Noticing a sparkling hairpin tucked into the secretary’s side hair as she nodded and turned her gaze back to the monitor, Executive Director Jang let out a soft chuckle.
At first, she’d insisted on barely visible hairpins, but after Tae Seo’s instructions, her accessory preferences had gradually become more noticeable—and endearing. The secretary, now wearing a palm-sized crown-shaped hairpin, clearly favored flashy things.
Stretching both legs out fully on the three-seater sofa in the pantry, Executive Director Jang draped her arm over her face.
“He’s the one I’ve pinned the highest hopes on among my kids. But that also makes him the most dangerous.”
“What do you mean by that…?”
“I trust he’ll handle things well on his own.”
It was Chairman Kang Shin Jae who had placed her by Tae Seo’s side. Until she was appointed Tae Seo’s Executive Director, she had served as Deputy Director of the Chairman’s Office at Kang Seon Group, acting as his right hand.
Yet, Executive Director Jang had to admit that her heart was slowly leaning toward Tae Seo. He was simply that charismatic.
“But still…”
Kang Shin Jae remained rock-solid as chairman even now. Just because he’d instructed her to keep an eye on Tae Seo didn’t mean he trusted her completely.
Surely, he’d planted someone else nearby as well.
Deep in thought, Executive Director Jang suddenly stood up.
“Oh, Executive Director Jang. It’s only been ten minutes since you went in. I’ll let you know fifteen minutes before it’s time—you can rest a bit longer.”
“Yeah, I know. I’ve got something to do. Don’t worry about me; just handle your work. Could you run to the document registry office? I forgot I was supposed to stop by this morning. Sorry.”
In her hand was a USB drive secured with triple-layer encryption. The moment the secretary left the office for the document registry, Executive Director Jang sprang into action.
Her hands moved without hesitation as she formatted the USB containing the original and related files of the report Tae Seo was likely reading at that very moment.
Her actions were faster than ever before.
She inserted the USB into the leftover bagel from breakfast, placed it inside the pantry’s mini oven, and cranked the temperature to maximum. Then, returning to her office, she pulled out a thick stack of documents from under her desk.
There was not an ounce of hesitation as she fed each sheet into the paper shredder.
“If you had things to shred, why didn’t you just tell me?”
Taking the mail handed to her by the secretary, Executive Director Jang placed the remaining documents on her thigh.
“Didn’t you know? I love shredding things. Watching paper get torn up really relieves my stress.”
“That relieves your stress? Ugh, I need shopping for that. Guess I’ll never be the saving type. Wait, what’s that smell?”
Executive Director Jang shredded the last page of the document stack just as the secretary sniffed the air and headed toward the pantry.
“Good heavens! Executive Director Jang, did you forget something in the oven? It’s completely turned to charcoal!”
“Oh, look at me—just wanted to lightly warm up the bagel I didn’t finish earlier.”
“That’s not ‘lightly’ at all! Ugh, we need to ventilate.”
Standing beside the secretary, who hurriedly turned on the ventilation system, Executive Director Jang made a contrite face. The charred bagel, now unrecognizable, was tossed into the trash.
Now all she had to do was take the fully shredded paper out, mix it thoroughly with the shredded piles from two other shredders, and toss them into a trash bag.
“While I’m emptying the shredder, I’ll take the bagel out too—the burnt smell won’t go away.”
“I’ll do it.”
“No, I’ll be right back—need to clear my head anyway.”
These documents should have originally gone straight to Chairman Kang Shin Jae. They contained the exact same report Tae Seo was reading now, plus an added summary of people Tae Seo had met privately recently.
With this act, just a month and a half into working by Tae Seo’s side, Executive Director Jang had defied Chairman Kang’s 17-year-long trust. She had firmly chosen to stand entirely on Tae Seo’s side.
Of course, she couldn’t simply omit the report meant for Chairman Kang Shin Jae, so she planned to omit and filter it appropriately.
Executive Director Jang had sharp instincts. A smile spread across her lips as she envisioned who would ultimately inherit Kang Seon Group.

On Monday, Seok Dong took a brief break to visit the department store, feeling unusually cheerful.
He’d been rejected by Jae In the previous Friday and endured a dreadful weekend—but, as always, his mother was his remedy.
That entire weekend, he’d enjoyed massages and gone shopping with her. He’d vented his anger while eating Gwang Soon’s signature abalone galbijjim, perfectly tailored to his taste.
As his mother had said, there was no reason for him to get angry over someone so beneath him. Granted, Jae In was far too beautiful to be called “beneath,” but his mother had promised to find him someone even prettier.
His mother had never broken a promise to him. That alone had carried him through the week.
He’d wanted to see Jae In, who was probably just upstairs, and confront her about why she’d rejected him—but he’d held back precisely because of that promise.
“My goodness, this fits our son perfectly. It’s made for him!”
“I like it too, Mom.”
“We’ll take this one. Size L, correct?”
“Ma’am, would you consider trying one size smaller? The shoulders and sleeve length would then…”
On Saturday, after their massage, they’d visited the luxury boutique in the department store and found a new coat Seok Dong liked.
Yet when the staff member professionally suggested changing sizes—since size M would clearly fit his frame better—the mother-son duo insisted on size L.
“What are you talking about? Do you see our son as some skinny dried anchovy? Are you a new hire, miss?”
“…I’m sorry.”
“This is unbelievable. Double-check the size and give us the right one. And don’t forget to shorten the sleeves and narrow the shoulders.”
The employee, unfairly scolded for simply doing her job, bit her lip and disappeared into the back of the store with the coat. Seok Dong watched her go until she was out of sight, then turned back to his mother with a gentle smile.
The price was astronomical, but as always, his mother never hesitated to spend on her only son.
“How long will the alterations take? How long must my son wait?”
“It’ll take about a week, ma’am. Would you like us to deliver it to your home?”
“Mom, I’ll pick it up myself. I need to buy something else anyway.”
“Buy it now—why wait?”
“No, not now. I’ll get it later and pick up the coat then.”
Seok Dong intended to buy Gwang Soon, who’d soothed his wounded heart, a scarf from the same brand as his coat. That’s just the kind of thoughtful and filial son he was.
“Ma’am, we’ll have your altered coat ready shortly.”
“No rush. I could use a coffee. You know my preference—light Americano.”
Sipping the coffee handed to him by the staff, Seok Dong leisurely surveyed his surroundings. Then, catching sight of the crowd lined up outside another luxury boutique, he clicked his tongue.
“Honestly, everyone and their dog is into luxury brands these days. The have-nots are the worst.”
There wasn’t a single person waiting in line outside the boutique where Seok Dong had bought his coat.
That was only natural—this was a boutique above all boutiques, accessible only to members who’d accumulated enough luxury spend to meet the store’s threshold.
Seok Dong had diligently frequented this department store’s luxury boutiques all year just to qualify for membership.
He’d maxed out his credit card on installment payments more times than he could count. Even now, most of his monthly salary went straight toward those payments.
“Those people lining up—do they really think that’s luxury? Like sparrows following cranes until their legs split… Seriously, too many people don’t know their place.”
The coffee served here seemed especially fragrant—surely made with the finest beans.
As Seok Dong closed his eyes to savor its aroma, he suddenly sensed a shift in the atmosphere and turned toward where the staff were bustling.
A tall, striking man entered the store, and every employee snapped to attention, standing straight with hands clasped respectfully in front of them, bowing deeply.
“Who is that guy?”
Seok Dong set down his coffee cup with a pout of his thin lips.
The man looked even more impressive up close. His broad chest and shoulders radiated dominance—so powerfully built that even another man couldn’t help but catch his breath.
He towered over even professional models, and his face could easily outshine top-tier actors. On top of that, his aura was unmistakably extraordinary.
Because of his height—or perhaps his commanding presence—his aloof gaze swept the store from a high vantage point, and Seok Dong unconsciously folded his already narrow shoulders like a crumpled tissue.
“My apologies. I should’ve had everything ready.”
“Why are you apologizing, Executive Director Jang? Does a flying bird announce before it poops?”
“Well, yes, but it must be inconvenient for you. I could still arrange for Manager Han to prepare—”
“I was already planning to come to the department store to buy a gift for my grandmother. Since I wanted to choose it myself, I hadn’t even considered calling a personal shopper. Ah, this coat looks good.”
The man, glancing at the pamphlet handed to him by staff, pointed to the very same coat Seok Dong had purchased.
Seok Dong withdrew his gaze from the man with a petty smirk, feeling triumphant for having claimed the item first—the coffee now tasted even more fragrant.
“We’ll prepare it immediately.”
Seok Dong watched in disbelief as the staff member hurried into the back. This was the same employee who’d told him the coat he bought was the last one left.
Moments later, the staff member emerged with a large-sized coat and helped the man try it on.

Seok Dong wanted to demand whether this top-tier luxury boutique lied to its customers.
“What do you think, Executive Director Jang? Does it look okay?”
“Yes. It’s quite good, considering it’s an impromptu purchase.”
“Hmm.”
The man spoke briefly to the petite woman standing behind him, then examined himself in the mirror, tilting his head this way and that.
When Seok Dong caught the man’s reflection in the mirror, he nearly dropped his coffee cup.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
