Dae Hoon roughly flipped through the tablet screen filled with articles about the foundation, unable to contain his anger, and hurled the device to the floor. Executive Director Kim stared silently at the shattered tablet, its screen cracked violently upon impact.

“Why haven’t these articles been taken down yet!”

“I’m sorry. It wasn’t just one or two outlets that published the story, and it’s spreading extremely fast through social media. It’s hard to control.”

“Is that supposed to be an excuse! Is this really all you can do?”

Even the CEOs and reporters at media outlets he usually knew well weren’t answering his calls. Just the day before, they’d played golf with him, congratulating Dae Hoon on his recent windfall and expressing envy.

Dae Hoon himself knew they’d crossed the line beyond what could be easily smoothed over with the press. One long-time employee who’d worked under Ji Seung Hee, chairwoman of the Hyun Yang Foundation, had fled overseas.

The employee had handed over all documents concerning embezzlement of the foundation’s sponsorship funds and government subsidies, as well as money laundering through Hyun Yang Construction, before vanishing.

“I’m asking you what the hell happened!”

“If you don’t know, who does? Quickly confirm everyone involved—the person in charge and all related parties! Find out if there’s anything else that might leak!”

—Reporters are lined up solid in front of the foundation office right now—how am I supposed to go there! Honey, I’m heading home first. I was just leaving a Moran Society meeting and need to clear out for now.

He’d just finished scolding his wife Seung Hee over the phone. She sounded genuinely clueless, her voice trembling uncontrollably with panic.

For a moment, Dae Hoon wondered if his in-laws’ side had caused this trouble, but he dropped the suspicious look. Still, his anger remained unchanged.

“Didn’t I tell you to focus on doing your actual job instead of wasting time on useless things? Is it really that hard to keep your handful of staff in check?”
