“Gives me a headache.”
Tae-seo, pinching his temples, placed the tablet on the desk. Right now, he keenly felt Yoon Jae-in’s scent, her laughter, and the warmth of her embrace.
Due to the standby order, he spent a dreamlike time. Until dawn, he had been deeply immersed in sweet moments with Jae-in.
Of course, it was a story that only applied to him. Last night might not have been all that sweet for Jae-in, who, while resenting Tae-seo’s energetic actions, eventually pushed him away.
“If it’s going to be like this, how about increasing your exercise?”
“Do you think I’m bothering Jae-in with my strength?”
“…I think you need to ease up a bit. Look at me now. I’m dying, but Tae-seo is full of energy. Let’s go. Go outside and run.”
“Shall we go together?”
“No, Tae-seo alone. I don’t have the strength to lift a finger right now.”
And so, on the bright morning, Tae-seo had to leave his house and take a walk around the neighborhood.

The man, glowing even after a short nap, kissed the sleeping Jae-in’s shoulders, unwillingly preparing for work. Then, he returned as Kang Tae-seo, the head of Kangseon Construction.
What awaited him upon his return to the company was related to the reconstruction of Hwami Apartments.
Due to the redevelopment of Hwami Apartments, which had experienced a setback once before, this time, Hyunyang Construction had taken charge again. However, as soon as the announcement was made, things took a turn for the worse once more. Thanks to that, those involved were determined to step forward forcefully.
The redevelopment of Hwami Apartments had collapsed once before. However, this time, when Hyunyang Construction was announced to take over, trouble arose again. As a result, those involved, who were determined not to let it happen again, came to Kangseon Construction and demanded to take charge of the reconstruction.
Then it would be easier if they agreed, but rather, the conditions for their demands had become more extensive than before. Tae-seo rejected the chairman of the association’s request for a meeting with the person in charge, Tae-seo, who had come to assert his leadership until the end.
As Tae-seo pondered the direction and timing of the work, he picked up his phone.
It was a message containing both subtle anticipation and concern. Soon, Tae-seo’s clear smile spread on his lips as he checked the phone vibrating briefly.
In response to Jae-in’s question, Tae-seo displayed a new screen on his phone. After scanning the menu choices in the company’s intranet cafeteria, he opened the messenger window again and quickly replied.
Tae-seo closed his eyes. Just thinking about Jae-in was enough to relieve his headache.
Wandering through every nook and cranny, he briefly enjoyed the excitement. As soon as he opened his eyes again, what he held in his hands was his work phone. His fingers swiftly moved as he found Director Lim Hong-jin’s personal contact.

―What’s up?
“I’ve made up my mind.”
―…I see.
Even though he responded with the expected answer, a bitter taste lingered in the reaction. Tae-seo knew the reason. It must be heartbreaking for Director Lim, unable to prevent his son and grandson from being at odds.
The early morning call from Director Lim Hong-jin had already known what Chairman Kang Sin-jae was up to.
Director Lim, who had confirmed that he couldn’t resolve his son’s narrow-mindedness and the resentment embedded in it, sounded exhausted. He probably hadn’t slept all night and had his emotions stirred.
Tae-seo saw through Director Lim’s unspoken apology when he first expressed his regrets without saying anything else. Unable to respond to the words that surely carried various meanings, when Director Lim proposed something unexpected, Tae-seo remained silent.
―I’m sorry that I can’t do much as a grandfather.
“…”
―Tae-seo, I can’t tell you not to resent your father. But…

“Yes.”
―Don’t bury anything deep in your heart. It’s how illnesses develop. My wish is for you to live happily, even if it’s in your own way.
When Jo-mo added those words, Tae-seo kept silent. He couldn’t say whether he would or wouldn’t. Tae-seo had already buried a lot deep in his heart. He had lived pretending to be normal, but in reality, he was someone with both illness and irregularity.
“I will.”
―Alright, get ready.
“I’ll visit the Art Center by tomorrow. For today, I’ll send Director Jang.”
―Do that. …Tae-seo.
“Yes.”
―Take care of your mind.
“…”

He knew the concern behind the brief words. Before Tae-seo could respond, Director Lim Hong-jin quickly spoke again.
―I’m busy, so I won’t say much. I’ll end it here.
“Yes.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
