The muscles on Daehoon’s jaw trembled sharply. The dilated pupils also seemed to have lost direction, resembling an earthquake. His clenched fist was trembling under the table. No, his robust body as a whole was shaking.
With the support of more than half of the shareholders, the motion to dismiss the chairman was passed. Daehoon, who attended thinking he wouldn’t lose his position, confirmed that most of the executives who he thought would be on his side had turned away.
Staring fiercely at the familiar faces filling the conference room as if scanning them, Daehoon shivered in uncontrollable rage. Due to the overlapping of fatigue and anger, his eyes were bloodshot. Most of those who met his gaze avoided eye contact.
“How dare you…! How dare…!”
At Daehoon’s angry voice, the executives of Hyeonyang Construction coughed nervously, waving papers and lowering their gazes. They whispered to each other and pretended to check something on their phones.
“How dare you, right now! Who dares to…!”
A voice filled with strength reached Daehoon’s ears as he searched for a target to release his uncontrollable anger.
“It’s natural to pull down a representative who has ethical and legal issues!”
“You should have stepped down earlier! The stock is like a piece of toilet paper at the owner’s risk!”
“Shouldn’t we save the company? Now, are we all going to die together?”

“If you really care about the company, please decide according to the resolution! Let’s not create news going up and down about Hyeonyang Construction anymore!”
Many nodded in agreement with the sincere opinions of the small shareholders. Daehoon, who raised his bloodshot eyes to look at them, fixed his gaze on Kang Taeseo, who was sitting opposite him, smiling as if drawn.
In the gaps between people who added their own comments, Taeseo sat quietly with his mouth closed, looking around the conference room. Then, slowly and elegantly, he straightened his posture.
As he did, his broad shoulders and chest grew more intimidating. Leaning back slowly in the chair, lifting his chin and staring at him, Taeseo looked like a languid beast.
“…”
While Daehoon glared as if he wanted to kill and Taeseo smiled crookedly while looking at him, it was a tense mental battle that everyone in the conference room could perceive. An eye battle where no one would yield.
“Hmm, well… Then, regarding the next agenda, the election of the temporary CEO…”
The personnel team cautiously opened their mouths, as someone had to proceed with the shareholders’ meeting anyway, but the words were not concluded. With a bang, Daehoon, who slammed the desk and stood up, looked coldly over the entire conference room.
When Daehoon saw the blond nerd-like foreigner with glasses and Amber, who had red hair tied up, he burst into bitter laughter. And the last place his gaze reached once again was Kang Taeseo.
“In the end, it was you.”

Daehoon, who realized belatedly that Taeseo was the one who set the trap for him, sighed as if in lament. People’s gazes were all directed towards Kang Taeseo.
Some had already recognized Kang Taeseo, causing a sense of confusion. There used to be secret exchanges, right?
Why is Kang Taeseo from Kangsun Construction here? Perhaps the rumors circulating are true. Those who attended with curiosity about Kang Taeseo, wondering about such questions, exchanged glances.
“You must have desperately searched for the missing 5.8 percent of shares.”
“…”
“Where do you think they were?”
Taeseo, adding the shares he already had to the 5.8 percent transferred from Jaein, attended the meeting as a shareholder. Daehoon, who didn’t know this, widened his eyes.
“Late Chairman Jo Sung-hwan must have had foresight.”
When the name of his father, who had never acknowledged his abilities throughout his life, came out of Taeseo’s mouth, Daehoon’s expression crumpled into a fierce scowl.
“Do you know how narrow your son’s capacity is, and what will happen if you pass the company on to your son?”
“You, you…!”

“That’s why you secretly hid some of the shares. Moreover, in a place where your son would never find them.”
Looking at Taeseo, who tilted his head while saying about a place his son would never find, what came to Daehoon’s mind was Yun Se-na’s smile.
It was their last meeting when she revealed the pregnancy and stated that she had no intention of erasing the child, intending to raise it alone.
To secure his foothold, Daehoon unhesitatingly abandoned Yun Se-na, who had a child. In fact, it sounded awkward to say he abandoned her. He had tried not to admit it until the end, but he knew that he had been rejected by Yun Se-na.
Yun Se-na did not recognize herself as the father of the daughter. She succeeded in forcibly taking her body and raising her child, but the woman flew to the United States with the child.
Daehoon thought about it over and over again. If he had put down his arrogance and greed at that time, if he had gone after Yun Se-na, if he had confessed his hot feelings for her, and if he had begged her to let him be the father of the child.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
