“Yeah! Our Yuri!”
“Look at this. See who really lacks a conscience.”
“What…?”
Daehoon, who had raised his head, whispered softly into Seunghee’s ear.
“It’s you, right? Not our Yuri.”
“What is this!”
Seunghee, who was about to attack aggressively, stopped as if struck by lightning.
From somewhere, an inexplicable fear spread through her body, making her tremble like a quivering tree. Her widely dilated pupils shook without focus, and her face, stained with astonishment, became pale without a trace of color.
“No, no, if I say it’s not true, does it feel like it’s not really true?”
“…….”

“Yes, yes, if I say it is true, does it feel like it’s really true?”
With a sneering smile behind him, Daehoon, who stared into the air, saw Seunghee clench her lips tightly, emitting rough breaths. She seemed like she could fall backward at any moment.
“Aren’t you surprised on your own? Perhaps, have you really forgotten?”
“…….”
“Committing despicable acts and covering them up, it seems easy for you to remember things as you want. You must find it easy to live in this world.”
With those words, Daehoon, who had been silently watching Seunghee, turned away. Until then, Seunghee remained frozen in place.
“Do you know that your mother gave you money to use in an emergency? Now is the time of emergency. Get it together. Don’t you think it’s time to repay the value of raising someone else’s child for 30 years?”
“…….”
“Oh, watch our daughter closely so that she doesn’t make any foolish mistakes. I’ll find a solution that might help in the current situation.”
Before leaving the study, even with Daehoon’s whispered words, Seunghee did not turn around. Her eyes, fumbling through memories buried for many years, became blurry with mist.

“…So, she’s my child?”
“What kind of question is that? How do you see me, after all?”
Over 30 years ago, Seunghee met Daehoon through her cousin’s introduction and fell in love at first sight.
However, her parents, who had hoped for a better family and son-in-law, opposed Seunghee’s relationship with Daehoon. The man Seunghee had to face opposition with was lukewarm. Seunghee was alone in this frustrating relationship.
She knew why Daehoon had met her. Seunghee’s family had been wealthy for generations, and her parents, who wanted to be recognized by her father, were in opposition. Daehoon, who was planning to expand his business and needed a large sum of money, had no choice. It was fine even if he was greedy for my family, not for me.
Although he wasn’t passionate about me, as long as he didn’t keep another woman by his side, I was satisfied. If only I could be his only woman. If only he could be mine.
Seunghee didn’t hesitate to use any means and methods to achieve her desires. She was willing to marry Daehoon even if she had to have his child. So, she actively approached Daehoon, and it wasn’t difficult to realize her intentions.
However, Daehoon was thorough about birth control. Moreover, the cold opposition from his parents continued. The look in Daehoon’s eyes as he saw me became colder. As Seunghee’s anxiety grew, she eventually found another way.
“Seunghee.”
“I knew how my brother looked at me. But now…”
“Why hesitate? What oppa wants now is what I want.”

Kim Hyeong-joo, who had been helping Seung-hee’s father, was Seung-hee’s long-time acquaintance and oppa. Despite being an orphan, he excelled in academics, thanks to his father’s support, and even helped Seung-hee with her studies for several years.
Seung-hee knew the feelings he harbored for her, and she took advantage of that. Despite knowing whom Seung-hee liked, the man couldn’t resist her seduction, which she had harbored for a long time.
After spending several nights with Kim Hyeong-joo, Seung-hee became pregnant. Confidently, she presented an ultrasound picture to Jo Dae-hoon.
“There’s no perfect contraceptive method in the world, you know. Now that a child is conceived, our parents won’t make you feel bad anymore.”
“…I see.”
“I only have you. You know that, right? Now, everything I have will be yours.”
Dae-hoon, who seemed momentarily suspicious, surprisingly accepted Seung-hee’s pregnancy without resistance. From then on, the path to marriage was smooth.
Unable to overcome the stubbornness of their adopted daughter, Seung-hee’s parents acknowledged Dae-hoon as their son-in-law and spared no investment and support for his business.
However, what was completely unexpected in the process was that Kim Hyeong-joo, who had been helping her father’s work, ended up working as Jo Dae-hoon’s secretary.
“Is that child really Jo Dae-hoon’s?”

“What nonsense is that?”
“It’s my child.”
“Are you crazy?”
“Seung-hee, let’s not do this. Before it’s too late…”
Glancing at the wedding dress she was trying on to cover her gradually protruding belly, Seung-hee’s eyes widened as she saw Hyeong-joo whispering to her while Dae-hoon was momentarily absent.
“Shut your mouth. Don’t say nonsense on a day like this.”
“…”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
