The next day—

She hadn’t seen Min Hyuk’s face yesterday. Knowing she was uncomfortable, he hadn’t come into the bedroom. So she hadn’t bothered telling him that Kim Yoon Hee was coming over.

A housekeeper came to the bedroom with dinner and informed her that Min Hyuk wouldn’t be coming out of his study for dinner. Da Hyun hadn’t even asked, but thanks to the housekeeper’s unsolicited kindness, she learned he’d returned home.

Since yesterday morning, Da Hyun hadn’t seen Min Hyuk’s face once. When she woke up and called for the housekeeper, she was told he’d already left for work early.

At this point, it seemed less that she was avoiding him—and more that he was avoiding her.

“Ms. Han Da Hyun.”

Da Hyun snapped out of her thoughts at the sound of her name being called.

“Yes.”

When Kim Yoon Hee called her name, Da Hyun jolted back to reality, goosebumps prickling across her skin. She felt like she might vomit right then and there. Kim Yoon Hee’s face seamlessly overlapped in her mind with Min Hyuk’s.

Kim Yoon Hee arrived precisely on time. She took off her coat as naturally as if she were in her own home, then called for the housekeeper to take her trench coat—but the housekeeper ignored Kim Yoon Hee’s gesture and turned toward Da Hyun instead.

Because of that, Kim Yoon Hee’s face visibly crumpled. She cleared her throat awkwardly and hung her trench coat over a dining chair. Apparently displeased that the hem touched the floor, she shot a sideways glare at the housekeeper who’d just ignored her.

Da Hyun didn’t ask the housekeeper to take Kim Yoon Hee’s trench coat and hang it up—she simply watched in silence.

After all, she hadn’t invited Kim Yoon Hee as a guest, so she wasn’t about to let the housekeeper wait on her.

Kim Yoon Hee forced a gentle smile, clearly making an effort to manage her expression.

“Thank you for inviting me.”
