Jing— Jing—

Just then, her phone, which had been placed on the dining table, rang.

—Han Ji Yeon—

Min Hyuk glanced sideways at the screen to check who was calling, clicked his tongue, and walked back to his seat.

How perfectly timed the call was.

Unhappy to hear from Ji Yeon, Min Hyuk crossed one leg with a sour expression.

Da Hyun, who had been staring blankly at Min Hyuk, belatedly came to her senses.

What if the call hadn’t come? That thought briefly flashed through her mind.

Da Hyun picked up her vibrating phone, then put it back down.

Ji Yeon probably called because she was curious about how things were going, but Da Hyun couldn’t bring herself to answer.

“Ms. Han Da Hyun, it seems to me you didn’t come here of your own free will for your sister’s sake—but because you had no choice. Am I right?”

Da Hyun chose silence. Everything he said was correct, leaving her no room to argue. She never should’ve come in the first place. No matter what Ji Yeon said, she should’ve ignored it until the end.

Seeing Da Hyun press her lips tightly together, Min Hyuk sighed and spoke again.

“Let me repeat: I need to marry you, Han Da Hyun—not Han Ji Yeon.”

“…”

Min Hyuk watched Da Hyun, lost in regret and inner turmoil, with cool indifference, giving a slight shrug of his shoulders. Inside, he was burning with anxiety, but he couldn’t show it.

Her double-lidded eyelids trembled faintly. Da Hyun was completely bewildered by this unexpected turn of events.

She hadn’t come here expecting this. She thought she’d just refuse and leave—but who would’ve guessed she’d end up being proposed to instead?

“…Why me and not Ji Yeon?”

“As you know, I’m an illegitimate child from outside the main family, so I have a lot of enemies. Having you—the eldest daughter of Yusong Group—by my side would be reassuring.”

Da Hyun couldn’t readily agree. Seeing her still remain silent, Min Hyuk hid his nervousness and pleaded gently.

“Please help me, Ms. Han Da Hyun.”

Min Hyuk gave Da Hyun, who looked utterly confused, an audaciously charming smile.

“So I can crush Kang Si Hoon of HG Group and rise above him.”

Kang. Si. Hoon. Min Hyuk already knew from Su Cheol that Da Hyun had met Kang Si Hoon two years ago as a blind date partner.

It had been part of Su Cheol’s strategy—to form a strategic marital alliance with HG Group, ranked 10th globally in brand value, not just domestically.

Due to lingering effects from her car accident, Da Hyun couldn’t remember that incident, but whenever she tried to recall it, her heart constricted painfully until it felt like it was shrinking. Su Cheol would only say things hadn’t ended well and offered no further explanation.

Da Hyun touched her throat lightly, then slowly shook her head. Min Hyuk, watching her with concerned eyes, masked his expression.

“I’m sorry, but I won’t be of any help.”

If he wanted to get along well with Su Cheol, marrying Ji Yeon would clearly be far more beneficial.

“I don’t understand why you think you wouldn’t be helpful. I disagree. Ms. Han Da Hyun, you’d be an enormous help.”

Min Hyuk bit the inside of his cheek, then opened his mouth casually as if nothing had happened.

To her, he seemed bold yet somehow cautious at the same time.

Da Hyun couldn’t understand why he was being so careful. Still, compared to when he’d first entered the room, he now looked oddly… cute.

His face wasn’t cute at all, yet he seemed cute—it felt like she was under a spell.

Suddenly realizing what she was thinking, Da Hyun quickly cleared her throat.

Trying to figure out how to dissuade Min Hyuk, she slowly opened her mouth.

“…I understand your intention, Mr. Kang Min Hyuk. But I still can’t accept why you’d want to marry me. Honestly, I don’t know what HG Group is thinking. Also, in case you didn’t know, I’ve already had a blind date with Mr. Kang Si Hoon. Since my engagement with him fell through two years ago, why is HG Group approaching Yusong again…?”

She wanted to ask if he had no shame—but swallowed the words and closed her mouth.

Strangely, she couldn’t bring herself to speak coldly to Min Hyuk. Her heart throbbed painfully, as if stabbed by dozens of needles.

Min Hyuk stared intently at her, unable to continue speaking. His fingers resting on the table tapped rhythmically—tuk, tuk.

“I know. But that part won’t be an issue.”

The mention of the past flustered Min Hyuk. To deflect it as naturally as possible, he forced a relaxed smile, deliberately lifting the corners of his lips.

“You are the eldest daughter of Yusong, after all. And most importantly, you’re exactly my type. Unlike Han Ji Yeon—I absolutely can’t stand shallow women like her.”

He offered a plausible excuse she might accept. He needed to shift the topic before she dug deeper. Calmly, he continued.

“Do you still have lingering feelings for Kang Si Hoon?”

His intention behind asking about lingering feelings was obvious, causing Da Hyun’s eyebrows to arch sharply.

“Lingering feelings? No. It’s been two years, and it was only a formal meeting—there’s nothing to hold onto.”

Although she couldn’t remember, she didn’t reveal that recalling the past made her heart ache. Every time the subject came up, pain flared up, causing her real suffering.

Besides, she couldn’t believe she was even having these thoughts at all.

Da Hyun no longer wanted to stay long in a place she clearly didn’t belong.

“Even if I were to accept this marriage, my father wouldn’t allow it. He must have had a reason for sending Ji Yeon.”

Even if he claimed to want her, the real matchmaker for this blind date was Ji Yeon. Su Cheol surely had his reasons for not sending her instead.

“I’ll handle that part myself. All I need is for you, Ms. Han Da Hyun, to say yes to marrying me.”

Though he seemed polite, his occasionally arrogant tone left Da Hyun speechless.

He hadn’t even let her make a decision yet—and already imagined himself walking down the aisle.

He was the type of man who’d stop at nothing to get what he wanted.

“Besides, your life right now isn’t really yours, is it?”

Flinch.

Her shoulders twitched slightly. Da Hyun was left speechless by Min Hyuk’s precise observation.

Who even is this guy?

“It’s not a bad offer, is it? Wouldn’t you want to escape that household?”

Da Hyun’s eyes widened, and her mouth slowly opened.

“The stepmother’s contempt, your half-sister’s disregard, and a father so cold it makes you question if he’s really your biological parent—it all sounds miserable.”

He knew her situation precisely, even though she’d never told him herself.

His languid voice triggered an alarm in Da Hyun’s mind, ringing loudly with warnings: This man is dangerous. Don’t get involved with him.

His lips curved confidently, as if he already knew everything about her.

The look in his eyes resembled that of a predator ready to devour its prey.

“I’ll give you freedom—from your father.”

His face looked like that of a beast seducing its prey to consume it.

“After we marry, you can live however you want and do whatever you please. I won’t interfere in your life at all. I only ask that, in front of others, we appear as an affectionate couple—pretending that though we married for strategic reasons, we fell deeply in love.”

She hadn’t thought of him as a beast at first—but now, seeing him like this, he really did seem like the rumored monster.

His proposal was simple and clear. Moreover, he’d pinpointed exactly what she wanted. Tempted by the alluring offer, Da Hyun bit her lower lip.

Min Hyuk gave a faint smile at her wavering expression.

But as soon as their eyes met, he quickly wiped the smile away.

A political marriage was, after all, just a business arrangement for mutual benefit. They both knew it—each would simply cooperate to obtain what they wanted.

They had no choice but to follow the current dictated by the environment they were born into. The world Da Hyun belonged to treated this as perfectly natural.

Thus, she well knew that a love story starting with butterflies and ending in marriage simply didn’t exist in her life.

She couldn’t say his offer wasn’t appealing—in fact, it was very tempting. But given the circumstances of this setting, hesitation was inevitable.

If this were her own blind date instead of Ji Yeon’s, she might have accepted his proposal without a second thought.

“I hope my efforts so far have at least shown you how desperately I want you, Ms. Han Da Hyun.”

His voice was sweet and gentle. His gaze warmed her so convincingly that she almost believed he truly liked her.

Finding her flustered, eyes darting as she struggled for words, he thought she looked adorable. Before she could see his softened expression, Min Hyuk quickly pulled down the corners of his mouth into a firm, straight line.

“Make your decision. It won’t be easy to find a better man than me to marry.”

Even as her face twisted in distress, Min Hyuk remained perfectly calm and unmoved.

Da Hyun was flustered, unable to discern Min Hyuk’s true intentions. Min Hyuk suppressed the urge to move closer and hold her, seated right across from him.

He knew he shouldn’t appear before her—since she no longer remembered him clearly.

Yet, without understanding his place, he stood before her—daring to claim her, and to beg for forgiveness.

“What can you possibly offer? You’re nothing but an illegitimate child, even if you carry Chairman Kang’s blood.”

“Didn’t you get banished overseas because Chairman Kang refused to acknowledge you as his son?”

“In the end, you’re just a rootless bastard—what can you possibly give my daughter, give us? You don’t even own any shares in HG.”

He hadn’t forgotten the humiliation and shame Su Cheol had hurled at him two years ago. To catch Chairman Kang’s attention, he’d worked relentlessly in his field of expertise—and it took precisely one year and seven months to achieve results.

He’d researched the next evolution beyond conventional AI—the consciousness and emotions of artificial intelligence. In the early stages of his research, he achieved breakthrough results ahead of other companies.

It was the answer to the age-old question: “Can machines think?” That technology birthed a new AI model, which then spawned countless variants.

For the first time in his life, he’d pushed himself to sleepless exhaustion just to gain someone’s recognition. It was all for her. And news of his achievements eventually reached Chairman Kang’s ears.

This time, he’d made perfect preparations to approach Da Hyun as a completely new person—without shocking her. It was difficult to act as if meeting her for the first time, but for the sake of a fresh start, he could endure it.

Min Hyuk was certain: Han Da Hyun would fall right into his hands. That’s exactly why he’d returned.

She didn’t even realize this blind date wouldn’t have existed at all if not for her.

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife

I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro

When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.

After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.

Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.

Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.

At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.

Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.

The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.

He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.

[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
