If only she had been more attentive to her body, perhaps she could have spared him the worry and the intense tinnitus.
“I didn’t realize it was pregnancy because I was being obtuse.”
I just thought I was not feeling well and overlooked it.
“If I had just taken better care of myself…”
“It’s not your fault, Da Hyun. Don’t blame yourself.”
Everything felt like her fault. Instead of taking care of prenatal needs, she was just feeling unwell.
“It’s been 8 weeks since the baby was conceived.”
“Huh?”
“Our baby is 8 weeks old now.”
“Is that so.”
Min Hyuk nodded absentmindedly, his reaction lukewarm. Da Hyun felt a surge of disappointment.

He must be preoccupied with her recent ailment.
“Why such a reaction? Aren’t you happy?”
She felt like he wasn’t paying attention to the baby because of her sickness.
“I am happy. Happier than you know. But I’m worried about your health. What if something like earlier happens when I’m not around?”
To him, she and the baby were his top priorities, a fact that wouldn’t change even after the baby was born.
“Min Hyuk, it was the first time something like that happened today. If it happens again, I’ll definitely go to the hospital.”
He sighed, unable to tell her that she was more important to him than the baby.
She didn’t want to see her upset.
“I’ll take care of my health. They said I should definitely take iron supplements. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been taking iron.”
Da Hyun felt embarrassed for acting childishly. It must be the pregnancy hormones, she thought, and decided to brazen it out.

“I’ll prepare your iron supplements every morning. I’ll also tell the housekeeper to focus on iron-rich foods.”
Min Hyuk held her hand, returning to his usual self.
He suggested avoiding outings for her safety, which made her laugh at his sudden overprotectiveness.
“If someone heard you, they’d think I was seriously ill.”
“Don’t talk like that. Words can become reality.”
“I think the tinnitus was due to fatigue. I’ll really take care of myself, okay?”
“There’s no way to handle you, is there?”
His deflated voice made Da Hyun smile comfortably.
Min Hyuk gently massaged her hand, pressing her fingers soothingly.
“We should tell your father about the pregnancy, shouldn’t we?”

Oh, father.
The pain subsided, but happiness faded from her face at the thought of her father. He could use her child as an excuse for anything.
“Let’s wait. I don’t want to tell anyone now. It’s early in the pregnancy, and stress is bad. So, I want to be careful.”
“Alright, we’ll do as you wish.”
Min Hyuk reassured her that he wouldn’t tell anyone until she was ready.
“Do you want a leg massage?”
“No, it’s okay. Go and wash up first.”
Min Hyuk reluctantly moved to bathe after her urging, feeling uncomfortable.
“Alright, I’ll be quick.”
Da Hyun playfully raised her hand as Min Hyuk reluctantly moved.
“Yes. I’ll wait.”

Her adorable gesture made Min Hyuk’s heart flutter even more.
In the bathroom, his lips, previously curved up, became a straight, cold line. His hand holding the doorknob trembled slightly.
She might think it’s just physical weakness, but he knew better.
The image of Da Hyun clutching her head in pain haunted him. He slowly closed and opened his eyes, feeling as if the locked past was trying to burst through.
Yoon Hee, recalling her lunch encounter with Da Hyun and her nausea, hurled her wine glass against the wall. The glass shattered, creating a sound of friction, its red contents splashing out.
“So, brother chose that woman after all.”
Her eyes red with anger, Yoon Hee bit her upper lip.
She pictured Min Hyuk’s face from their last encounter two years ago, watching the broken glass and wine stain the floor.
“Think you can be happy without me? No way. If I’m miserable, you have to be too.”
It was her life that got ruined because of someone.

Without bothering to clean up the shards, she grabbed her phone, hesitated, then dialed a number.
The phone rang long. Yoon Hee, having switched to speaker and activated the recorder, now smiled cunningly, eyes shining.
Finally, a middle-aged man’s voice answered.
“Hello, this is Kim Yoon Hee.”
[I know. Have you made up your mind?]“Yes, I’ll do what you proposed, Chairman.”
[Good choice. A wise decision.]Yoon Hee’s expression twisted at the man’s satisfied voice over the phone.
The two of them, past and present, will never be allowed happiness.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
