Da Hyun found his cold smile strangely alien.
However, Da Hyun did not think seriously of it. She was used to his kindness towards her, so she attributed her inability to adapt to his cold face as a result of that.
“I’m sorry, I should have resolved it within my limits. I’ve caused trouble for you, Min Hyuk.”
“Don’t keep apologizing. I’m really okay. It’s not strange for a soninlaw to talk with his fatherinlaw.”
Min Hyuk disliked seeing her being cautious and worried.
“What do you think would happen if I told Da Hyun that I knew you two years ago? I thought you had learned something. Can’t hide your origins as a bastard, can you? Isn’t it basic to show respect to adults? Especially to your fatherinlaw.”
He thought about not answering when Su Cheol called, but he picked up, worrying that she might get a call instead. But she had already finished talking. If he had known that she had talked, he would not have taken Su Cheol’s call.
“We’ve already gotten married. Isn’t it better to forget the past and start fresh? Now, we are not strangers, we should get along as a soninlaw and fatherinlaw, right?”
What does getting along mean? Min Hyuk was gauging what Su Cheol was thinking. He had long seen through Su Cheol’s dark intentions.
Living from hand to mouth, meeting many people, he could read a person’s inner thoughts just by looking at their eyes.
“I’ve already finished talking with my wife. I’ll come over with Da Hyun tomorrow. We should at least have a meal, shouldn’t we?”
Su Cheol was a vile and lowly person who only moved for his own benefit.
Since there was a grandchild, he must be trying to play the role of her father all of a sudden.
But Min Hyuk did not reject Su Cheol’s dinner invitation.
If he refused, he didn’t know what Su Cheol would say to her again.

It was amusing that he was trying to manipulate me by exploiting the fact that she had lost her memory.
“Min Hyuk?”
Brushing her loose hair behind her ear, Da Hyun darted her eyes back and forth.
“Yes.”
“I’ll contact my father and tell him we can’t go.”
The moment Da Hyun was about to turn her body to pick up her cell phone, Min Hyuk gently gripped her wrist.
“No, don’t. I’ve already told him I’m going. You don’t have to worry.”
“Really? You told him you were going?”
“Yes.”
Her eyes widened and her mouth opened slightly.
Da Hyun naturally thought Min Hyuk would refuse Su Cheol’s proposal.
“Why? It’s not like you’ll see anything good even if you go.”
“I know. I’m just fulfilling my duty. Haven’t you forgotten that I’m your husband? If your fatherinlaw asks me to come, I should go. So, you don’t need to worry. If you really don’t want to go, I can go alone.”
He was considerate enough to say this knowing that she wasn’t on good terms with Soocheol.
It felt as if he cherished and valued her greatly, making her feel like a precious person.
The feeling of being protected by him made her heart flutter. She had always defended herself. But the realization that someone else was protecting her brought a wave of emotion welling up within her.

Da Hyun’s face felt hot as if it was burning. Being with him often made her blush.
“How can you say that? You’re still my wife.”
Min Hyuk looked satisfied, even though she did not ask him to let go of her wrist, which he had unusually gripped.
She was worried, but Min Hyuk was genuinely okay. But he didn’t contradict her because he felt good knowing she was worried about him.
Just as Soocheol had found his weakness, he had found Soocheol’s weakness too.
“You have a good excuse. And why is that your house? It’s your parents’ house. Da Hyun, your house is here. The house where you and I live is your house and our house.”
Min Hyuk revealed his disappointment that she still didn’t consider the house she lived in with him as her own.
“I know that too. I’m just not used to saying it.”
“Well, that’s a relief. Then I’ll call you again to arrange a time for tomorrow evening.”
“I’ll call you.”
“No need, it’s easier for me to call. I know very well that you are uncomfortable with your fatherinlaw.”
Da Hyun was confused about how to explain the fluttering and swirling emotions she felt.
Why was he considering and taking care of her from the start to finish? Even though they were legally married, they were strangers in reality. But he was really treating her as if she was his own person.
He made her feel like he was treating her as preciously as handling a beautiful flower.
Why? Why is she shaking?
She wanted to pull her wrist away, afraid that her fastbeating pulse might reveal her feelings to him. But whether it was because her mind was frozen, she couldn’t move her lips.

She simply stood there, her wrist held in his large hand.
“I’ve always wanted to know why your fatherinlaw called us, especially after not having contacted us for so long.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
