“So Myung had a daughter. She must’ve been looking this up again.”

Her heart tore apart seeing her son still lost and unable to forget So Myung. Though it was his own fault, Madam Jung was still his mother.

She wished he’d finally come to his senses and stop hurting himself. Although she’d left the room without showing it to Ji Sung on purpose, her legs had gone weak.

Without even realizing it, she sank down onto the floor.

Madam Jung hoped Ji Sung would quickly forget So Myung and live happily.

After Madam Jung left, Ji Sung began tidying up. He put away the teacup and sat back down at his desk.

His laptop was open on the desk, and an article about So Myung caught his eye. He’d been so overwhelmed earlier after seeing it that he’d forgotten to close the laptop.

“Ah, Mom didn’t see it, did she?”

A tightness pressed against Ji Sung’s chest.

He knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight. He took a bottle of soju from the fridge and poured a full glass.

He downed it in one gulp and stared again at the article about So Myung.

“So Myung, you’ve become a mother now. I’m glad you’re doing well. But my heart hurts so much. Still, this pain is nothing compared to how I hurt you. I’m sorry, So Myung. I’ll try to forget you. I really will. Please be happy.”

Ji Sung wished for So Myung’s happiness. But he felt unbearably lonely. The time he’d spent with her had been the springtime of his life.

This endless loneliness was the price he paid for throwing away that happiness and preciousness.

With trembling hands, Ji Sung turned off his laptop. He poured another drink. Tears streamed down his cheeks.
