A Thrilling Divorce (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
Ra Hee Chae looked at him, who only had eyes for her, and spoke.
“Jae Yoon, I have a man now.”
Jae Yoon stared at Ra Hee Chae with a stunned expression, then opened his mouth without hesitation.
“Come back to me.”
“No.”
“I’ll do better.”
“I’m going to marry him.”
Ra Hee Chae spoke with a determined look on her face.
“What’s so great about him?”
“He’s rich and capable.”
“Is that all?”
“No, he’s far more handsome than you.”
“But in the end, you’ll come back to me again. Just like before.”
“The one who rejected me when I came back to you last time was you.”
Ra Hee Chae looked at Jae Yoon with eyes full of resentment, her voice trembling.
“Yes, I’m tired too. You were never satisfied with just me and always looked elsewhere. Do you really think he’ll be any different?”
“He will.”
“Don’t be so sure. When I called out to you, you shouldn’t have come. You need me too, especially now.”
Ra Hee Chae looked at Jae Yoon, who seemed to see right through her.
“Don’t talk as if you know everything about me.”
Ra Hee Chae looked at Jae Yoon and spoke, sounding sorrowful.
“Ra Hee Chae, let’s just start over, the two of us. You can get treatment too.”
“What?”
“You don’t settle for me anymore. Why are you wandering like this?”
Jae Yoon looked at Ra Hee Chae with pity.
“Jae Yoon, I don’t even know myself anymore.”
Jae Yoon gazed sadly at Ra Hee Chae, who hung her head in silence, and spoke.
“Honestly, I hate you so much—hate that you went to another guy while leaving me behind. But I keep missing you terribly, and it frustrates me, yet… I can’t live without you.”
Ra Hee Chae lowered her head and remained completely silent.
Then Jae Yoon wrapped both his arms around Ra Hee Chae’s shoulders and said,
“I’ll wait. Sort things out and come back.”
Ra Hee Chae lifted her head and looked at Jae Yoon. To her, Jae Yoon had always been like home.
Whenever she grew tired of other men, she’d go to him, briefly warm herself in his affection, then leave again for someone new.
That was the kind of person he was—always there, always available.
But the last time she returned to him, Jae Yoon had coldly rejected her. At that moment, she felt deeply hollow, convinced she could never go back to him again.
Then, she met Ji Sung and fell for him at first sight, throwing herself into winning him over, and Jae Yoon gradually faded from her memory.
Yet even her passionate love with Ji Sung no longer satisfied her. She’d even begun feeling disappointed by his indecisiveness.
Just as she was wondering whether she could really trust this man with her whole life, she unexpectedly received another message from Jae Yoon.
Truthfully, she missed Jae Yoon terribly. He was the only one who truly understood her as she was.
She began to doubt whether Ji Sung would still love her if he knew the complexities of her personal life.
To see Jae Yoon, she even lied to Ji Sung. She was a woman who followed her instincts more than her reason.
Ra Hee Chae looked at Jae Yoon and said,
“Give me some time to think.”
Hearing her words, Jae Yoon brightened and replied,
“Okay.”
“I’m leaving.”
“I’ll drive you.”
“No. I’ll go alone.”
“Al…right.”
Ra Hee Chae abruptly stood up, glanced briefly at Jae Yoon, and confidently walked out of the bar.

Jae Yoon stared blankly at her retreating figure as she left the bar.
She was always confident and aloof. But in his eyes, he could clearly see sadness in her expression.
He saw her pain—pain no one else knew.
She looked pitiful to him, and he wanted to wrap her warmly in his arms. He resolved to heal her wandering soul with his love.
He made a firm vow—to stake his entire life on her.
******
When Ra Hee Chae entered the house, Ji Sung was already asleep in bed.
Looking at his sleeping face, Ra Hee Chae let out a quiet sigh.
‘Can I really risk my whole life on this man?’
Unable to sleep, she went to the living room, opened the fridge, and took out a beer.
She sat on the sofa, popped open the can, and brought it to her lips.
Everything was going exactly as she’d planned—yet this nagging discomfort she felt was impossible to understand.
She poured more beer into her mouth.
She knew sleep wouldn’t come easily tonight.
Ji Sung, who’d been pretending to sleep in bed, grew even angrier as Ra Hee Chae stayed in the living room and didn’t return for a long time.
The old Ra Hee Chae would’ve cuddled up to him while he slept, cooing sweetly, asking if he was upset, and lightly brushing her lips against his face. What had gone wrong?
Unable to overcome his pride, Ji Sung stayed put, frustrated and restless.
After a while, Ra Hee Chae finally returned to the bedroom. Ji Sung lay with his back turned, hoping she’d warm him with her embrace—but she didn’t come near him.
A crack began slowly forming between them.
The next morning, Ji Sung was busy getting ready for work in his suit. So Myung had always prepared his outfit and socks the night before, neatly placing them on the dresser in his dressing room.
But Ra Hee Chae was too busy with her own makeup.
He looked over at her. Sensing his gaze, Ra Hee Chae paused her cheek touch and said,
“Oppa? You’re definitely going to court today, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Have a good trip.”
“You…”
“What?”
Curious about Ji Sung’s next question, Ra Hee Chae stopped applying her blush and turned to look at him.
“Who did you drink with last night?”
“You wouldn’t know even if I told you.”
Without looking at Ji Sung, she opened her lipstick cap.
“Why wouldn’t I? Just tell me.”
“Do I really have to explain every little thing?”
She slammed the lipstick down irritably onto her vanity.
Ra Hee Chae shot Ji Sung an angry glare.
“No, seriously—you’re the weird one for not being able to say anything!”
“It’s not that I can’t say it—it’s because you keep probing me like you’re testing me, and it pisses me off.”
Ra Hee Chae scowled deeply and huffed.
“You really…”
“What?”
“Ugh, we’re going to fight if this keeps up. Let’s just drop it.”
“Oppa? Are you tired of me?”
Taken aback by Ra Hee Chae’s sudden question, Ji Sung hesitated for a moment.
“What? Why would you say something like that?”
“Because living with you, I feel worse than your wife ever did.”
“Chae Ra Hee Chae? You!”
“If you don’t like it, just call it quits.”
Ra Hee Chae looked at Ji Sung with eyes full of sorrow.
“Let’s stop this. I’m leaving first.”
Ji Sung abruptly turned his body with an angry expression and stormed straight out the front door.

“What? Seriously?”
Annoyed by Ji Sung’s rude behavior, Ra Hee Chae stared at the door he’d slammed and breathed heavily.
“He’s so damn selfish.”
Ra Hee Chae remained furious at Ji Sung and kept huffing for a long while.

Ji Sung had taken a half-day off today to meet So Myung at the courthouse. As he left, his heart grew heavier by the minute.
Was this really the right choice?
Whenever he felt how deeply So Myung had cherished and loved him, he’d scold himself and strive hard to build a new future with Ra Hee Chae.
Suddenly, a frightening thought flashed through his mind—what if he missed So Myung for the rest of his life?
Assuring himself it was just ten years of shared history, he waited for So Myung at the courthouse entrance.
In the distance, he faintly saw a human figure and stared intently, wondering if it could be So Myung.
But the person looked much younger than So Myung, so he glanced again at his wristwatch.
‘She should’ve arrived by now…’
He lifted his head from the watch—and the woman walking toward him gradually came into clearer view.
He hadn’t recognized her at first, but the one approaching him was none other than his wife, So Myung, coming to finalize their divorce.
Today, there was no trace of her old self—only a sophisticated, polished woman stood before him.
Instead of her usual messy straight hair, she’d added soft natural waves that perfectly framed her face. Normally dressed in sportswear or jeans, she now wore a neat, formal dress and high heels.
The woman who rarely wore makeup now appeared before him in full makeup.
She was walking toward him—a completely transformed woman.
“So Myung…”
Her voice today sounded even calmer as she spoke.
“Did you wait long?”
The slight upward curve of her lips as she looked at him made him feel as though he’d been transported back to his freshman year of college—the moment he’d fallen for her at first sight.
“No.”
“Let’s go in.”
Ji Sung thought to himself,
‘So Myung is still so beautiful.’
Suddenly, memories flooded back—of pining after her, his heart pounding every time she glanced his way or smiled, leaving him sleepless all night.
‘How foolish.’
Feeling as though So Myung might somehow read his thoughts, Ji Sung awkwardly cleared his throat.
“Feeling unwell?”
When So Myung looked at him and asked, he gazed back with sad eyes.
“It’s just a question. Don’t look so surprised like I’m actually worried about you.”
“Why would you say something like that?”
“Let’s just go in and get this over with quickly.”
So Myung hurried him, so Ji Sung looked at her and asked,
“Are you really in such a rush to divorce me?”
He genuinely wanted to know what she truly felt inside.
“Don’t ask things like that. I don’t even want to answer.”
“So Myung…”
“Don’t call my name like that.”
“I’m sorry.”
When Ji Sung looked at her and spoke, So Myung stared back, astonished.
For ten years living together, she thought she knew everything about him…
Yet today, his expression and actions were utterly incomprehensible.
So Myung looked at him and opened her mouth.
“Is something wrong with you?”
“What’s wrong? Nothing like that.”
“Then why are you acting this way?”
“What do you mean?”

“Until just recently, you were desperate to avoid divorcing me.”
“That’s true. But I can’t forget the ten years we spent together.”
“Ji Sung, just forget about me now.”
“Can you forget me?”
Ji Sung looked expectantly at her lips, eager to hear how she’d answer.
So Myung spoke with firm eyes.
“The time we spent together isn’t even worth remembering as a memory for me now. It’s just a dark chapter I never want to recall again. I want to finish this quickly. Please. Let’s just go in.”
“So Myung…”
So Myung glanced at Ji Sung, then quickly walked into the courthouse.
Ji Sung, shocked by her words, followed her inside, and the two submitted their documents.
She didn’t look at him once—her expression showed no hesitation at all.
As they stepped out of the courthouse, So Myung turned to Ji Sung and said,
“In a month, when we each submit the documents, it’ll be completely over. Take care.”
As So Myung turned to leave, Ji Sung grabbed her wrist.
“Are you really going to leave like this?”
“Then what?”
“Let’s at least have a cup of coffee.”
“Why would we need that?”
“Then let me drive you home.”
“No, it’s fine.”
“Come on, let’s go together.”
“I said no.”
So Myung roughly shook off Ji Sung’s hand.
“So Myung…”
So Myung couldn’t understand Ji Sung’s behavior at all.
She had no idea how fiercely she’d pushed herself just to overcome this pain.
If she failed to get past this crisis, she feared she might simply collapse.
She’d only just managed to gather herself again—
And now Ji Sung was acting like this again, making her resentful all over.
Her face flushed red, her breathing turned rough.
She glared at him and said,
“You’re such a selfish bastard to the very end.”
“What?”
“After doing what you did, do you still want to look impressive in front of me?”
“What I did?”

Seriously, I’m shocked at how idiotic they are. Ra Hare really thought the protagonist was so nice.
She finally told her father the truth; he just needs to meet the protagonist to see how wonderful she is.
Seriously, I’m angry at this fake; I’m waiting for the mask to fall.
