Ji Sung repeatedly tried to enter the password, his face distorting in frustration.
“Ah, shoot. This is really annoying.”
He took a deep breath, took out his cell phone from his bag, and dialed So Myung’s number.
After a long ring, someone picked up the phone. Ji Sung started to vent his frustration without hesitation.
“Hey, why did you change the password? Huh?”
[It’s brotherinlaw.]
“……”
Ji Sung, realizing that the person who answered the phone was So Myung’s mother, was taken aback and momentarily lost for words.
“Oh, yes.”
[Don’t make such a fuss about changing the password if you’re going to break up anyway.]
“Excuse me? Motherinlaw!”
[I heard a rough story from So Myung. So Myung is not feeling well now, so let’s talk tomorrow.]
“Motherinlaw……”
[I’m hanging up.]
“Mother……”
The call had already ended. So Myung’s mother, who was always calm and intellectual, did not lose her composure even in this situation.
Ji Sung had been worried about what to do if he was asked to make amends with So Myung.
However, he was upset by the attitude of So Myung’s mother, who had taken their breakup as a foregone conclusion.
‘Is she ignoring me? Now?’
Ji Sung gritted his teeth and silently looked at the envelope in his hand. Then he firmly pressed the down button on the elevator.

He couldn’t understand why he felt so strange, given that he was finally granting the divorce that she had so desired.
He tried to think that it was because nothing was going right and everything was getting messed up today.
As he drove in his car, he mulled over the actions of So Myung and her mother.
When he entered the home by punching in the passcode to Ra Hee’s studio apartment, Ra Hee ran up and hugged him.
“Brother, you’re back?”
“Yeah.”
“Brother, did you hand over the documents?”
“No, I couldn’t.”
At his words of not being able to deliver the documents, Ra Hee looked at him with surprised eyes and asked.
“Why?”
“So Myung wasn’t home.”
“Really? Then why didn’t you go in, leave them, and come out?”
“She had changed the password.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?”
“……”
Today, Ra Hee was looking at Ji Sung, whose expression was unusually dark, with a look of not understanding.
“Brother? Are you angry because she changed the password?”
“No, what are you talking about.”
Ji Sung felt a moment of regret. The thought crossed his mind that he should be careful in front of Ra Hee, who was overly sensitive when it came to So Myung.

“That’s right. You’ve had a bad expression since you came in.”
“No, it’s not that. It’s just that I had a lot of work today and I’m a bit tired.”
“You never understand people’s feelings. Do you know how hard it is for me?”
“I know, okay.”
Even as Ji Sung was trying to soothe the upset Ra Hee, he was thinking about So Myung.
‘So Myung wasn’t like this.’
So Myung was a woman with a personality completely opposite to Ra Hee. An eternal optimist. She was always bright and full of energy.
She was the woman who managed to endure for a full 10 years the life of living with the strict motherinlaw that most women couldn’t bear. She silently considered Ji Sung whenever he seemed tired.
But Ra Hee constantly craved affection, insisting that she was the one having a hard time and that he should only look at her.
There were times when he found Ra Hee, who was young and beautiful but so very different from So Myung with her sensitivity, to be tiring. He just wanted to rest peacefully today.
“Do you think she’ll grant the divorce?”
Ra Hee, who asked the question to Ji Sung, had sparkling eyes.
“I’m not sure yet…”
Ji Sung was surprised to find himself lying without realizing it.

‘Why am I doing this?’
He couldn’t look directly at Ra Hee who was staring at him intensely.
“Brother?”
“Hmm?”
“Even though it’s hard now, we have to do this for our future. You know that, right?”
Hearing Ra Hee’s words, Ji Sung looked at her and answered.
“Yes.”
“I’ve bet everything on you.”
“Yes, Ra Hee. I know.”
Ra Hee leaned her head on Ji Sung’s shoulder and said,
“I trust you, brother.”
Ji Sung felt confused at Ra Hee’s words.
‘Yes, she loves me like this.’
Struggling to calm his heart, Ji Sung looked at Ra Hee and gave her a small smile.
The following morning, So Myung and her mother were driving somewhere in So Myung’s car. The place they arrived at was So Myung’s father’s grave.
At the grave, the two momentarily lost their words. Tears welled up in So Myung’s eyes, as she tried not to cry.
While pulling out the weeds from the grave, So Myung’s mother spoke.
“Honey, our daughter is here.”
“Dad, I’ve come.”
“Please watch over our So Myung’s new beginning from heaven.”
“Dad, I will live well.”
So Myung felt truly blessed to have a family that understood her.
The two sat side by side, leaning against the tombstone, looking up at the sky.

“The sky is so beautiful.”
So Myung’s heart ached as she watched her mother, who was pretending to be alright.
“Mom, I had hoped to live well…”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
