“Your Grace. I am here only to attend to the Archdeacon and fulfill my duties.”

Liana spoke to him in a calm voice, as if urging him to look around.

Among those present, who should pick up the tart that had fallen to the floor and wipe the shoes?

Was it the revered Archdeacon Giselle Marlehein? Or Shade Lester, head of a princely house and undefeated hero? Or perhaps Liana Serpens, the new maid who had accompanied them?

It was a question anyone could answer without hesitation.

Liana couldn’t understand at all what Shade wanted.

He merely seemed to be acting petulant.

“Liana. That’s enough. Take the tart and leave. His Grace and I have matters to discuss alone.”

Giselle stood with her arms crossed, staring fixedly at both Shade and Liana.

“Matters to discuss alone?”

As Shade furrowed his brow, Giselle smiled and parted her lips.

“We also need to talk about our marriage, don’t we?”
