A Relentless Senior (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
“Hello.”
“Hi.”
Sa Rang bowed her head first, and Do Han returned the greeting.
Of all places, it was right at the fork between the College of Engineering and the College of Physical Education.
From here on, Sa Rang had to part ways with Yoon Jae and walk toward the College of Engineering with Do Han.
She took off the jacket draped over her shoulders and handed it back to Yoon Jae.
“You wore it well. See you next week.”
“Yeah. Eat well and rest up over the weekend.”
“Okay.”
After exchanging goodbyes, they each headed in their own direction.
Walking alongside Do Han, Sa Rang felt so awkward she thought she might die.
She’d repeated to herself countless times over the past few days that she’d just act like normal, but now that she was actually facing him, she had no idea what to say.
Fortunately, he broke the silence first.
“You said you weren’t feeling well.”
Sa Rang glanced sideways at Do Han.
His guilty expression made it impossible for her to stay quiet.
“It wasn’t because of you, sunbaenim.”
She meant he shouldn’t feel guilty—but he remained silent.
“I was just worried you might feel bad about rejecting my confession. You know how they say—the one who gets hit can sleep soundly, but the one who hits can’t.”
“If I’m the one who hit you, then it really was my fault you got hurt.”
Flustered, Sa Rang bit her lip.
She instantly regretted saying anything at all and wished she’d just stayed quiet.
“It was a bit cold that day, you know. They say lots of people still catch the flu even in April. So really, it wasn’t your fault.”
She emphasized it once more.
Do Han stared straight at her.
“…Why?”
His piercing gaze made her look away.
She’d already confessed, been rejected, and should be moving on—but at just one glance from him, her traitorous heart wouldn’t stop racing.
“Why did you call me ‘sunbaenim’ again?”
“Huh?”
“You called me ‘oppa.'”
Sa Rang blinked several times, her face turning bright red.
When she’d confessed, “I like you, sunbaenim” had felt too distant, so she’d unconsciously called him “oppa” instead.
It had come out naturally then, but now that she was back in reality, it felt embarrassing to say it out loud.
Of course, she called other senior guys “oppa,” but for some reason, it never felt right using it for Do Han.
Sa Rang’s mind went completely blank, unsure how to respond.
Thankfully, they’d reached the entrance to the College of Engineering, giving her an excuse to part ways.
“I need to go this way. Take care.”
Sa Rang hurriedly stepped away, while Do Han watched her retreating figure until she disappeared from sight.
Just moments ago, seeing Sa Rang with Yoon Jae had stirred up an inexplicable storm of emotions in him.
At first, he’d been glad to see her—and felt sorry for her thin, pale face.
Then, he got angry watching her smile at Yoon Jae.
And finally, when he saw another man’s jacket draped over her shoulders, something hot and fierce surged in his chest as if it might burst.
It was all absurd.
He’d told her to like someone else—but now he was terrified she actually might.
He was the one who’d said she and Jung Yoon Jae looked good together, so why did it infuriate him to see them being affectionate?
He’d never once been truly sincere about anyone in his life.
Yet every time he looked at Sa Rang, his chest burned as if he actually understood what those feelings were—how was he supposed to make sense of that?
He let out a quiet sigh and murmured under his breath.
“I was the one who got hit.”

He didn’t know when it had started, but she’d been gently knocking on his heart.
Though he knew he didn’t deserve it, he found himself wanting to open the door anyway.

Tae Hoon walked out of the lecture hall with Do Han after class.
“Let’s grab dinner. My treat.”
“Maybe next time.”
Do Han had no appetite—still in a bad mood from seeing Sa Rang wearing Yoon Jae’s jacket.
He didn’t feel like eating; he just wanted to go to sleep.
“Fine, if you’re not hungry. Then I’ll just treat Sa Rang today.”
“I’ll go.”
“Huh?”
“I’m coming too.”
“What’s gotten into you all of a sudden?”
Tae Hoon, who’d been about to call Ji Woo and ask her to bring Sa Rang out, paused and furrowed his brow.
This uncharacteristic moodiness didn’t suit him at all.
“Let’s go to that new place near campus. I heard their pasta’s pretty good.”
“Not that place. Let’s go somewhere else.”
“Why not? I heard the atmosphere’s nice.”
“You can go there with Kang Ji Woo sometime.”
“How about the pork belly place next door, then?”
“It’s too noisy there.”
“What do you actually want to eat?”
Since he kept rejecting every suggestion, it was obvious Do Han had something specific in mind.
How expensive a meal was he planning to get for free?
Curious, Tae Hoon gave him a sidelong glance.
“Galbitang.”
“Why galbitang?”
“Just because.”
Do Han wanted to feed Sa Rang something nourishing to help her recover from the flu.
Her face had grown paler over just a few days, and he wished he could treat her to a proper meal—but he couldn’t, not anymore.
It would feel awkward now, offering such kindness as her senior.
He couldn’t be casually kind to someone who’d confessed to liking him.
So he was relieved when the chance came up for all four of them to meet.
Tae Hoon initially frowned at the menu choice but soon nodded in agreement.
“Okay, now that I think about it, galbitang might actually be better. Since Sa Rang was sick, it’s probably more suitable than pasta or pork belly.”
As Tae Hoon called Ji Woo to confirm, Do Han’s previously heavy mood began to lift slightly.
He was glad he could still get Sa Rang to eat something good for her health, even if it was just this small way.

“Sa Rang-ah, eat up.”
As soon as the four bowls of galbitang arrived, Tae Hoon urged Sa Rang.
“Yes, I’ll dig in.”
Sa Rang took a sip of the hot broth and widened her eyes, clearly delighted.
She’d come along with Ji Woo since Tae Hoon offered to treat them—and it turned out this restaurant was famous for its galbitang.
Though the menu choice had seemed random at first, the soup alone already made her feel stronger.
Ji Woo took some meat from her own bowl and placed it into Sa Rang’s.
“Eat more. You won’t get sick again if you eat well.”
“This is already plenty.”
“Just eat it. You look like you lost weight after getting sick.”
Sa Rang did seem lighter—probably from eating little and sleeping a lot.
Eventually, she nodded and happily mixed rice into her soup.

Satisfied by how well she was eating, Do Han finally picked up his spoon.
After a while of everyone eating quietly, Tae Hoon looked up and asked Sa Rang, who sat diagonally across from him.
“Sa Rang-ah, have you ever thought about going on a blind date?”
“Huh? A blind date?”
Sa Rang, who’d been blowing on her hot soup, instinctively glanced at Do Han across the table.
“Yeah. Didn’t you say you came to college to find a boyfriend?”
Flustered, Sa Rang stayed silent, so Ji Woo stepped in.
“Who would you set her up with?”
“A second-year in the Department of Architecture—he’s really nice.”
“Do you have a photo? I’m curious.”
Seeing Ji Woo’s enthusiasm, Tae Hoon pulled out his phone and showed them his junior’s social media profile.
“Oh, he’s handsome. He looks kind too.”
“Yeah, he really is. Super nice personality. Right, Do Han?”
Do Han reluctantly nodded.
Of all the guys Tae Hoon could’ve picked, he had to choose the best one—making Do Han’s mood sour—but he kept it to himself.
“What do you think, Sa Rang?”
Ji Woo held out Tae Hoon’s phone for Sa Rang to see, reiterating once again how kind and good-natured the guy was, urging her for an answer.
It was also her subtle way of saying, “It’s time to forget Do Han and look elsewhere.”
Sa Rang glanced briefly at the photo and then resumed eating her meal.
“He seems nice.”
At that offhand remark, Do Han turned to look at her.
A cold, sharp sensation, like ice touching his heart, made his expression harden.
Tae Hoon took back his phone, pleased—then Sa Rang spoke again.
“But I already like someone.”
For a moment, silence fell over the table.
Tae Hoon was surprised by her confession; Ji Woo, who knew exactly who it was, was flustered; and Do Han, hearing her confession for the second time, felt his heart race violently.
“Really? Ji Woo, did you know about this?”
“Ah—no. I had no idea.”
Ji Woo pretended not to know—if she admitted she did, he’d surely press her for details later.
She tried to act natural, but her eyes betrayed her unease.
Fortunately, Tae Hoon was too focused on Sa Rang to notice Ji Woo’s lie.
“If you like someone, just confess to them. They might like you back too. If I hadn’t confessed to Ji Woo, I never would’ve known she liked me.”
Sa Rang gave a light laugh at Tae Hoon’s earnest advice.
“I already did.”
Ji Woo’s mouth dropped open at Sa Rang’s casual remark, as she continued eating her galbitang as if nothing had happened.
When on earth had she done it?
She’d been stuck at home the whole time she was sick—when had she found the chance to confess?
Ji Woo had so many questions but held them back.
Thankfully, Tae Hoon asked for her.
“Seriously? So what happened? What did he say?”
“He told me he likes someone else.”
Both Ji Woo and Tae Hoon fell silent.
His blunt rejection left them speechless.
They themselves felt awful—how much more painful must it have been for her to hear those words directly? They couldn’t even bring themselves to comfort her.
Ji Woo shot a sharp look at Do Han before quickly turning back to Sa Rang.
“Was that why you got sick?”
“No.”
“How can you say no?”
“Really, it wasn’t that. What does the flu have to do with that?”
She knew it was nonsense, but Ji Woo couldn’t help feeling it was all Do Han’s fault that Sa Rang had suffered.

She’d warned her against this—if only Sa Rang hadn’t fallen for that unbearable oppa and gone through all this heartache.
“I guess it’s for the best. Forget him and go on that blind date. Like he said—just like someone else, right?”
Seeing Ji Woo get worked up, Sa Rang gave a small, wry smile.
“Should I?”
“Yeah, let’s do it. Oppa, call that junior right now.”
“You really want me to call? Are you serious about this blind date, Sa Rang-ah?”
Tae Hoon picked up his phone, ready to dial immediately if she agreed.
Sa Rang briefly glanced at Do Han, who was staring fixedly at her, then turned to Tae Hoon.
“Yes. I’ll do it.”
Ji Woo cheered, saying she’d made a good choice, and Tae Hoon immediately placed the call.
Sa Rang resumed eating as if it had nothing to do with her, while Do Han couldn’t take his eyes off her.
Had her feelings for him vanished with that confession?
If she was already willing to meet someone new, did that mean she’d already moved on from him?
He’d wanted exactly this—but seeing Sa Rang agree to the blind date without even a hint of hesitation left him feeling strangely disappointed.
He almost wanted to demand why she’d confessed at all if she could move on so quickly.
First Jung Yoon Jae, and now this other guy—he was getting jealous of everyone.
Do Han felt disgusted with himself for being so petty.
“Is Monday okay?”
Tae Hoon, still on the call, asked Sa Rang.
She nodded.
“Yes.”
“Then let’s set it for 5 p.m. Monday?”
“Sure.”
Among those gathered at the table, only Do Han wore a displeased expression.
He had a feeling this mood would last all weekend.
Suddenly, the galbitang wouldn’t go down his throat.
He set his spoon aside and fixed his gaze on Sa Rang.
The sight of her laughing and chatting happily with Ji Woo while eating grated on him.
*** ***
It rained all weekend.
Still recovering from the flu, Sa Rang was afraid of catching another cold, so she stayed indoors both days.
By Monday morning, she was eager to get outside.
The weather was bright and perfect for enjoying spring.
“Oh! I need to give him a morning call.”
She’d forgotten last week—skipping a day due to illness had thrown her off.
She didn’t want her daily routine to change just because her confession had been rejected.
She wanted to live exactly as before, as if nothing had happened.
Since they attended the same school, avoiding Do Han was impossible—and she didn’t even want to.
If that had been her intention, she never would’ve confessed in the first place.
Sa Rang dialed Do Han’s number.
But his phone was turned off.
She decided to try again after showering and headed to the bathroom.
A little later, towel-drying her damp hair, she pressed the call button again.
“It’s still off.”
She tried calling again while changing clothes, and once more while doing a quick makeup touch-up—but no luck.
Maybe he was sick?
As she left her house, Sa Rang hesitated briefly before slowly heading in his direction.
She decided it was best to check on him in person.
Entering the building where Do Han lived, she climbed the stairs.
But when she reached his third-floor unit, she hesitated to ring the doorbell.

Was this overstepping?
Did she really need to go this far?
So many thoughts ran through her mind, and she couldn’t bring herself to press the button.
Then, suddenly, she found her courage.
What if he was sick and all alone?
She remembered the night she and Ji Woo had rushed to the ER—and Do Han could be in a similar situation. It was better to check.
With trembling fingers, she pressed the doorbell.
After waiting a moment, she pressed it once more—and the door soon opened.
“What is it?”
Do Han’s voice was grumpy, as if he’d just woken up.
He flung the door open with a look that clearly said, “Who the hell is bothering me this early?”—then froze in surprise when he saw Sa Rang.
She, too, jumped back in alarm at the sudden opening of the door.
“Your phone was off.”
“…So you came here to wake me up?”
“Yes.”
“What time do you think it is?”
“It’s past 8. If you get ready now, you won’t be late.”
“I don’t feel like going.”
“What?”
As Do Han turned to go back inside, Sa Rang quickly grabbed the closing door.
“Wait, uh—”
She peeked her head in and saw he’d already flopped back onto his bed, pulling the blanket over himself.
She let out an incredulous sigh.
She’d come all this way for nothing—and still hadn’t confirmed whether he was sick or not. Carefully, she stepped inside.
The door clicked shut behind her, making her jump.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
