Gasp!
I barely held in a scream and a gasp for breath.
Shocked as if she had seen a ghost, Sori twisted her body to the left and ran blindly.
If only there was a bathroom along the way.
All walls!
In the end, Sori had no choice but to rush into the dressing room.
I’m crazy. I’m crazy. Yu Sori is crazy.
Even as my selfconsciousness was cursing me, I couldn’t control my actions.
My plan was to gauge his mood during the morning meeting and then plan an apology.
But to face him without any preparation or plan!

Even after hiding in the dressing room, Sori was restless and suddenly began to bite her nails.
“Yu Sori? What’s wrong?”
Despite Gitaek’s strange look, Sori was consumed by the thoughts occupying her head.
What should I say to excuse what happened yesterday?
Yesterday, I stole a kiss from Seo Hyunwoo, and then I cried and made a fuss as if I was sick with a disease I didn’t even have.
And the fragments of memory that came up.
‘Stop crying. There’s no need to cry. You just need treatment.’
He had certainly said that to me when he was carrying me.
I must have said I had leukemia…
How am I supposed to collect the water spilled from a bucket?
“Mom!”
Startled by the large shadow outside the semitransparent door, Sori found a place to hide.
Bang.

The dressing room door opened immediately and Hyunwoo walked in.
It wasn’t even time for the meeting yet, I wished he would go to his office!
Sori quickly hid herself under the chair next to the table.
“Professor, good morning.”
Gitaek stood up from his chair and bowed in greeting, then he patted the back of the crouched Sori with his foot.
I wondered if he had gone mad since morning.
Gitaek looked at Hyunwoo and smiled, then spoke in a low voice.
“Hey, Yu Sori, what are you doing?”
“Be quiet.”
Sori brought her index finger to her lips and begged him to be quiet with pleading eyes.
Hyunwoo gave a light cough.
“Dr. Kang Sehun, not here yet?”
“Ah, he was here but then he went somewhere. But I think he’ll be back before the meeting.”
Gitaek, who was tense looking for Sehun who had messed up the surgery, also stuttered.
“If he comes, tell him to come to my office before the meeting.”
“Yes. I understand.”
Gitaek answered Hyunwoo’s question in a determined manner. Sori hid beside her colleague, avoiding his gaze and curling up even smaller.

Hyunwoo finished his business and immediately left the dressing room.
He who had turned to grab the door handle turned his head to look back once.
Once at the floor, once at Gitaek’s eyes.
Why was Gitaek’s pupils shaking when Sori was the one hiding, I did not know but thankfully.
“Take care.”
“Yes. Goodbye.”
As he left, Sori, who had been hiding, heaved a sigh of relief.
“Because of you, Yu Sori, I was on edge.”
Gitaeg took a seat and looked at Sori, who was crouched on the floor, with an odd look.
“Did you make a big mistake with Professor Seo yesterday?”
Yes, she had made a mistake. A huge, irreparable one, to be precise.
“You don’t need to know. It’s embarrassing just to talk about it.”
Sori, with a drained face, crawled up from the floor onto a chair.
“Did you get drunk and get too close to the professor?”
“Yes, something like that.”
Sori answered insincerely to Gitaeg, who was making wild guesses.

Thinking about it, it was similar.
She had gotten too close with her lips.
“How? The atmosphere was completely chilly yesterday. You didn’t cry and make a fuss, did you? Nah, that’s not possible, right?”
“Maybe… it is.”
“Wow. I heard that Professor Seo absolutely hates seeing people cry.”
“Really?”
Despite everything, Sori, who had just learned that he dislikes it, asked back, very surprised.
“And you hid because of that? Are you a fool?”
“I just didn’t have the confidence to face him right away.”
“But it seemed like the professor saw you and just left. Perhaps he decided to pretend not to know.”
With an irresistibly interested face, Gitaeg comforted Sori.
“Getting emotional when you’re drunk can lead to mistakes. Don’t be too down. It’s a bit hard for a newbie from the first day, though.”
Was that a comfort or salt on the wound?
Sori felt like she was on a crashing plane.
If she was so flustered that she couldn’t deploy a parachute, wasn’t the conclusion a crash?
What should I do?
“Ugh.”
Sori clasped her throbbing head with both hands.
It’s almost fair to say there’s no offduty for a firstyear resident.

Home is the hospital, and the hospital is home. It’s no wonder they’re not residents for nothing.
After running around all day, Sori had a brief respite around 7pm.
“Aren’t you eating dinner, Yu Sori?”
“I don’t feel like I’ve digested my lunch yet.”
“Hey, why are you like this? You better go apologize in front of the plaster statue.”
Gitaeg sincerely advised Sori, as if he was worried.
“Then he might forgive me. He wouldn’t kill off a budding sprout, would he?”
“Isn’t he the type who could do it and still have more to spare?”
“Well, that’s… umm, yeah.”
“I’ll go get some fresh air for a bit.”
Gitaeg watched Sori’s weak, wobbling walk away with sad eyes.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
