It was a fullfledged spring day.
After the drizzle of spring rain, the air was so refreshing that it felt sweet to breathe.
The ground was damp, and there was moisture in every breath.
Even with wet feet in my shoes, I didn’t mind. My steps were light.
She was a bit excited today.
‘Passed the Empire Hospital Residency!’
Images of my oneyear internship at Seo Han Hospital flashed through my mind like a slideshow.
I can’t remember the last time I was fully conscious on my walk to this bus stop.
Either halfasleep going to work or fainting on my way home.
But I have never regretted my decision to become a doctor.
Sori, wrote the three letters of a name that suddenly popped into her mind on the ground of the bus stop with her foot.

He was a special person who awakened the dream of being a doctor in Sori, who was a wandering student.
Despite the hardships that made my head spin, I was happy just imagining myself working alongside him in a doctor’s gown one day.
And that day was not far off.
How could I not be happy?
On her way to meet her childhood friend Jiwoo after a long time, a faint smile spread on her face like watercolor paint.
Just then, Jiwoo called.
“Ah, Jiwoo. I’m at the bus stop. I’ll be there soon if I take the bus. About 30 minutes?”
Looking at the bus entering the station, she suddenly lost sight as she lifted her bowed head.
Why is this happening?
Sori squinted at the suddenly clear sky.
Even if she blamed dizziness, the sky, cleared of rain clouds, was too beautiful as if a rainbow would appear.

She shook off her dizzy head lightly. Having slept all day, she seemed to be hungry.
She boarded the bus that just stopped.
The afternoon bus had quite a few vacant seats.
The accumulated fatigue lightly suppressed her excited heart. She yawned continuously.
‘I slept so much, but I’m still sleepy…’
Thanks to the languid sunlight, her eyelids soon became heavy.
A luxury house in Hannamdong.
Jiwoo, who had been waiting impatiently for Sori, ran out to the entrance in her socks.
“Yu Sori!”
There was a strong rose scent from Jiwoo who suddenly hugged Sori. It was a flashy scent, just like Jiwoo’s appearance.
“Why are you so thin? Anyone would think you’re a patient, not a doctor.”
Jiwoo’s greeting after a long time was a bit aggressive.
“But why sunglasses at home?”
“Weren’t there any reporters outside the gate?”
“No, there weren’t any?”
After letting Sori slump down on the living room sofa, Jiwoo took off her sunglasses. There was a deep green bruise around her eyes.

Sori’s eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected sight.
“Why does your face look like that?”
“I recently got involved in a scandal with Daimonster J, remember?”
“Yeah, you called me crying.”
After debuting as an ice cream model at the age of five, Seo Ji Woo received the love of the whole nation.
Her career was quite glamorous.
She was known as the nation’s little sister and led a flourishing career as a model and actress, and then suddenly debuted as a girl group member and enjoyed a long second heyday.
Recently, she had been invited to international film festivals for appearing in a film directed by Director Hwang, who is noticed by the Academy, and had been breaking her own records every year.
Who dares to do such a thing to Seo Ji Woo.
“His sasaeng fan sneaked into the drama set the day before yesterday and threw eggs!”
“Was it kids who did this?”
Daimonster was the most popular male idol group currently, consisting of five members.
Female celebrities who had any connection with them were known to be in a serious situation, as if they were having measles.
“My manager brother went to adjust the slightly tangled schedule, and then she suddenly showed up.”
“And you let her go?”
“I should have caught her and taken her to the police station, but I had to be in the right mind to do so.”
“Oh, you must have been surprised.”
“Now, it’s frightening to even see kids in school uniforms. But do you know it really hurts when an egg hits your face?”
Considering the dark bruise on Ji Woo’s fair skin, it seemed like it hurt quite a bit.

“Let me see. How’s your eye?”
“My eye’s fine, but I thought my cheekbone and forehead were broken.”
“It must have really hurt.”
Sori looked at Ji Woo’s face with sympathetic eyes.
“Hey, congrats, friend! You passed the residency at Jegook Hospital!”
The usually charming and petulant Ji Woo suddenly clapped her hands and smiled brightly.
“Oh, that. It’s kind of redundant to congratulate me on that now.”
“Of course it’s something to celebrate. It’s a bit sad that it’s not my dad’s hospital, though.”
“I’m sorry about that.”
“What are you sorry for, it was just a joke.”
It would have been more natural to become a resident at the place where she interned, but it was a necessary choice for her dream.
That is, to become a professor at Jegook Hospital, considered the best in the field of neurosurgery in Korea.
Just like the person who inspired Sori’s dream.
“So, Yu Sori, are you going to be my brother’s disciple now?”
“Seems like it. That’s how it turned out.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
