Se Ah stood in a countryside house with a daecheong maru. Sunlight shattered dazzlingly through the flowers. In a good mood, Se Ah spun around as if dancing.

Clang—the large blue front gate opened, and someone entered: a young woman with long straight hair, round eyes, and a bright, sunny smile.

“…Mom?”

“Yes, it’s me, your mom.”

Recognizing her instantly, her mother beamed. She set down a large suitcase and rushed over to tightly hug Se Ah.

“You’ve been doing well, my daughter. You’ve grown so much.”

“Mom, why are you only coming now? I’ve missed you so much.”

“It was far away, that’s all.”

As Se Ah scolded her tearfully, her mother endlessly patted her back. Once Se Ah finally stopped crying, her mother led her to the daecheong maru and sat her down.

“Want to see what Mom brought?”

Unpacking the suitcase on the wooden floor, her mother laid out various items: pretty clothes, shoes, and accessories like hairpins and headbands.

“Mom, how old do you think I am? I’m twenty-six now. That’s for babies.”

Even as Se Ah pouted, sticking out her lips, her mother just kept smiling brightly. Turning her daughter around, she carefully combed Se Ah’s hair.

“Your hair is so thick and silky.”

“I guess I take after you.”
