Yura passed through the airport customs in a daze, practically being carried onto the plane by Ihyeon. She fell asleep again as the plane took off, only waking up when they arrived at their destination.
The honeymoon destination was a small island in Indonesia, home to the Illusion resort, built by CH Group. The resort’s manager personally welcomed them, ensuring a smooth arrival.
Yura was amazed at the mystical beauty of the island and its resort. However, what surprised her more than the resort’s grandeur or its exquisite design was their room.
“Flashy, very.”
Looking around the flower-covered interior, Yura was taken aback, but Ihyeon commented nonchalantly.
“It’s for honeymooners.”
Yura cringed at the cloying phrase.
All reservations and itineraries had been managed by Ihyeon, so the overly burdensome decorations couldn’t have escaped his notice.
His house was minimalistic, furnished with only the essentials. The room’s contrasting ambience was jarring.
“Is this your taste?”

“Hardly.”
Whether it was to his taste or not, Yura had no desire to stick around. She took out clothes from her suitcase and headed for the bathroom.
“I’m going to shower first. Call someone to get rid of this.”
Hoping the garish decorations would be gone by the time she finished, Yura hurried into the bathroom.
In the tropical climate of Indonesia, Yura felt sticky all over just from moving around for a short while.
She wasn’t particularly sensitive to heat, but in such weather, the stickiness was inescapable. The subtle woody scent of the amenities in the bathroom reminded her of Ihyeon. His first project after joining the company was this resort, Illusion. His passion and love went into every detail, from the paintings on the walls to the types of plants in the garden.
So, it was likely that Ihyeon had chosen these amenities. Their scent, reminiscent of tall, proud trees firmly rooted in the ground, seemed to reflect his character.
Yura shook her head, trying to dismiss thoughts of Ihyeon, and focused on whether to enjoy a night swim or explore the night market after her shower.
Having slept throughout the journey and feeling refreshed after her shower, she felt lighter, almost regretting that she’d need to sleep again so soon. She changed into a flowing dress and noticed the spread of food in the garden outside the glass door.
“Would you like some wine?”
Ihyeon, standing opposite her, presented a bottle of rich red wine. Yura’s eyes sparkled as she exclaimed, “Ah, Château Margaux!”

It was her favorite wine, one that filled half of her family’s wine cellar. But after her father’s financial support stopped, it became a luxury she couldn’t indulge in. Occasionally, Yugun would secretly bring her a bottle, which she savored sparingly.
Yura felt content knowing she could now enjoy this wine without worry, thanks to her marriage. The thought of the benefits of a contractual marriage brought a smile to her face.
Ignoring Ihyeon, she lounged on the plush sofa, savoring the wine. Then, Ihyeon spoke in a serious tone, “Today’s the day.”
“What is?”
“The day we can… consent.”
Yura’s face flushed as if hit by a wave of intoxication, and she set down her wine glass, her hands feeling sweaty. It was their first night after the wedding, and despite the fatigue from work and the hazy wedding and honeymoon journey, she had forgotten about this crucial finale. Or perhaps, she had conveniently forgotten, relying on the ‘consent’ clause to avoid fear.
How to escape this situation weighed heavily on Yura’s mind. A scholar once said to enjoy what can’t be avoided, but this wasn’t a matter to be taken lightly.
Yura bit her lip, overwhelmed by dread. Even theoretical knowledge was a foreign concept to her in this uncharted territory, intensifying her fear.
“Um…”
Struggling to find the right words, Yura sipped her wine nervously, uneasily glancing at Ihyeon.

Suddenly, she remembered the kiss they shared in his office. The sweetness that blanked her mind and the thrill that enveloped her body seemed vividly alive again. The kiss, far from being unpleasant, even felt exhilarating, tickling her heart with a flutter.
Due to her lack of experience, Yura felt a clash between the fear of the unknown and the desire to relive the thrilling sensation she had felt before. In fact, that memory was now spreading more anticipation than fear.
“It’s our first night together.”
As if aware of her hesitation, Ihyeon calmly reminded her of the significance of the day. She knew she could refuse under the pretense of their agreement, and Ihyeon would respectfully back off. But she didn’t want to push him away.
Ihyeon smiled lazily, as if trying to change the atmosphere.
“I’ve been looking forward to tonight.”
“What, why would you be waiting for something like that?”
Startled by Ihyeon’s dazzling and enchanting smile, Yura stammered and fanned her blushing face with her hand.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
