Baek I-Hyeon’s gaze, voice, and the words he uttered seemed truly affectionate, as if he was genuinely concerned for a beloved partner. It was almost as if they were the only two people in the place.
The look he gave Yura felt unusually warm, and it didn’t seem like it was just fabricated to persuade the adults.
Despite her mind knowing better, her heart fluttered as if ignorant of everything, and her heart pounded as if it wasn’t hers, feeling alien.
What was even more surprising were the adults who accepted this absurd logic.
“Okay, if that’s what you want, let’s do it that way. What do you think, in-laws?”
“Well, if that’s what they want…”
Yura realized anew where I-Hyeon’s confidence came from. Having parents who agree and support his words, perhaps that’s why he was so confident.
People are shaped not only by their innate qualities but also by the environment they grow up in and the values they learn at home. For I-Hyeon, both innate and acquired traits were the source of his confidence.
“Then, we’ll take our leave now.”
At I-Hyeon’s sudden announcement of departure, Mi-Hee and Yeong-Eun sent regretful glances. Yura, eager to escape this uncomfortable gathering, quickly stood up to follow I-Hyeon.

I-Hyeon, with a familiarity that suggested he had done this often, placed his hand on Yura’s shoulder and calmly uttered an embarrassing excuse to the elders.
“Yura is too busy for us to even have time for a date.”
Yura tried her best to smile naturally at I-Hyeon’s words.
After seeking understanding from the elders and leaving the room, Yura, who got into the car, questioned I-Hyeon about the most shocking statement of the evening.
“I like cherry blossoms?”
“No, I do.”
I-Hyeon swallowed the words ‘You under the cherry blossoms’. The moment that sentence came to mind, he was even bewildered. He remembered seeing Yura under the cherry blossoms in the schoolyard long ago. He thought she looked pretty then.
But pretty and liking were different meanings. At least for I-Hyeon.
It was just a thought that came unwittingly, and thus he deemed it unnecessary to verbalize. Furthermore, he dismissed the idea of liking ‘Yura under the cherry blossoms’ as an illusion created by the situation.
“Unexpected. You like cherry blossoms.”

“How about a movie?”
I-Hyeon asked a question out of the blue. Originally, he had left early because of unfinished business at work. He was supposed to just drop Yura home and go to the office, but he used the word ‘date’ as an excuse.
“Really going on a date?”
“Yeah.”
He had never wanted to and didn’t intend to. But somehow, the idea of dating Yura seemed worth trying. At least, being with Yura didn’t seem boring.
Since the absurd reason for setting the date at the engagement, time had flown by.
Yura, with the help of Baek Jin-Ho, was temporarily excluded from the practice schedule with Oh Se-Jin. Thus, she could devote all her time to concert planning and wedding preparation.
Contrary to what she had heard, wedding preparation was much smoother than expected. While she and the work-focused Baek I-Hyeon only needed to make the final confirmation, a challenge arose today.
“You said you’d grant all my wishes, right?”
Yura, dressed in a pure white wedding gown, found herself in an unexpected clash of opinions with I-Hyeon.
“Don’t use that excuse here.”

“This is the current trend.”
“I don’t like it.”
Truthfully, Yura wasn’t well-versed in the latest trends either. She tried to persuade I-Hyeon by quoting the staff who helped choose the dress, but it was to no avail.
She disliked anything too revealing, but an A-line dress with lace modestly covering the upper body wasn’t too much or too little, and she liked its neat finish that wasn’t overly elaborate.
Yet, I-Hyeon opposed this dress. Regardless of how she reasoned – it’s my style, it’s trendy, it suits me – he consistently voiced his opposition.
“Then, try to persuade me.”
Having failed to convince I-Hyeon, she challenged him to persuade her instead. He sighed deeply and then asked the fitting staff for privacy.
“Could you please give us a moment?”
“Sure, please talk.”
As the staff respectfully left the room, I-Hyeon strode towards Yura.

“Do you know who the designer of this dress is?”
“The designer? No, I don’t. Is it an unknown designer?”
The fame of the designer was irrelevant to Yura. What mattered to I-Hyeon was the existence of this particular designer.
With the arrival of Oh Se-Jin, he had gathered various bits of information, including an interesting gossip. A scandal had involved a rising star female designer and Oh Se-Jin, and this very dress Yura was trying on was created by her.
While IF Management tightly sealed the details, preventing the story from becoming a news article, it was already quite famous in the industry.
However, the problem lay in the backstory of the scandal. This damned dress was originally intended for Oh Se-Jin’s engagement. When their relationship soured, the designer commercialized it, and it made its way to Korea.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
