Kyung Mi deliberately spoke more harshly, and Da Jung understood her intention. Though Kyung Mi’s words felt painful right now, compared to the agony of the real ending later, it would be nothing.

“Sometimes… there are just relationships like that.”

Just then, a nurse walked in, looking for Kyung Mi.

“Teacher! An emergency!”

“I’ll get up first. Let’s talk again later.”

After warmly hugging Da Jung’s shoulder, Kyung Mi stood up. Left alone in the lounge, Da Jung covered her face with both hands. She felt like she was adrift in the middle of a vast, endless ocean. Amid all this, morning sickness slowly crept in, making her stomach churn.

He never said a word about his grandfather or his family, and didn’t even tell her what he actually did at the company.

On particularly gloomy nights, she sometimes wondered if that attitude itself wasn’t a kind of signal—an unspoken message that she could never become part of Tae Myeong.

Da Jung could help him sleep peacefully and take care of his nights, but his days didn’t belong to her.

And the most heartbreaking part was her own heart. Ironically, even if he reached out to her first, she wasn’t sure she’d have the courage to take his hand. She didn’t believe she was worth more than the astronomical value he’d have to give up.
