The kiss was sweet, warm, and full.
Kasha’s skin, which was always cool, gradually heated up because of Leon. The more familiar she became with his kisses, the more they naturally led to an intimate excitement.
Aware that she was making quite a provocative expression, Kasha twisted her head deeply so that he could enter even deeper.
The passionate self hidden inside her was truly unfamiliar.
It was even more so because she had always been trapped in circumstances, looking around and shrinking. However, the cheeky sense of liberation she felt once was a sense of freedom that she could never give up.
It was like a strange and unfamiliar world opening up before her eyes, like the sea or the desert she had seen for the first time.
Feeling her excitement, Leon let out a low groan as if in pain, but he embraced her as if she would break. As if he loved everything about her so much that he was going crazy.
And Kasha put all her weight on his iron-hard arms. As if she knew he would naturally accept all of her.
The moment she paused the endless kissing and caught her breath, Leon whispered desperately in her ear.
“You’re so… so good, Kasha.”
A clumsy confession, like a child, unsuitable for a large and beautiful holy knight to say.
But because his sincerity was contained in that voice, not knowing what to do in front of her, Kasha trembled with ecstatic satisfaction and whispered inwardly.
I feel the same way. I like you so much.
From the moment she returned to the terrible life she didn’t know the reason for, he was nothing less than her guidepost.
Even in the midst of confusion and uncertainty, thinking of him kept her from losing her way.
His unwavering faith in her, despite her inability to confess anything, had already caught her many times.
So in this moment when Leon was shaking with intense anxiety, she was confident that she would never waver.
‘I believe in you. So don’t lose faith in yourself either.’
As if reading her thoughts, Leon stroked her swollen red lips and whispered.
“Don’t worry. I won’t waver. I’ve already found the most important thing in my life.”
As soon as he finished speaking, he dug into her again. His gesture, aggressive and resolute, was so welcome that she tightened her arms around his neck.
[This is the timeline separator]“Where do you want to enter?”
Leon raised his voice without realizing it.
He was sitting on the ground with his back against a birch tree.
Kasha was sitting on his thighs, and Leon’s arms were holding her slender body tightly. It was because of his determination to never let her sit on the ground with her legs giving out.
Feeling Leon’s body temperature fully against her back, Kasha continued.
“If the Grand Duke is indeed a victim of the curse, we need to find the medium of the curse as soon as possible.”
“……”
“So I want to go into the Grand Duke’s room and look around inside. I might be able to find something.”
Leon, who had been silent for a moment, shook his head.
“If we’re going to find it, I’ll find it. There’s no reason for you to do such a thing for my father.”
Grand Duke Osilote was the enemy who killed her biological parents. What reason could she possibly have to even lift his curse? If anything, she should have cursed him.
But Kasha shook her head vigorously.
“Soon… the Grand Duke may be in danger. If something happens to the Grand Duke, the curse will soon find its master.”
“To Anthony, you mean.”
At Leon’s quiet reply, Kasha paused for a moment but silently nodded. A bitter smile hung on Leon’s lips.
The curse of the magic stone Opus, which grants ‘superhuman power,’ is ‘madness.’
The abnormal symptoms that Grand Duke Osilote had been suffering from for several months were none other than the manifestation of madness.
Anthony had cursed his own father, Grand Duke Osilote, with the curse of madness in order to gain power.
‘Why did you have to go so far, Anthony?’
Leon hugged Kasha tightly in his arms and let out a bitter sigh.
His younger brother, who had always been weak and pitiful. He didn’t think that sensitive child would accept his situation indifferently. The child’s cold gaze sometimes stuck in his throat like a thorn.
‘But were you so desperate that you committed such an act?’
To the point of sacrificing him, who, no matter how terrible a person, was still the father of you and me.
‘It must have been Nigel’s order.’
Nigel had finally achieved his goal. What he wanted was the complete destruction not only of Grand Duke Osilote but of the entire Grand Duchy.
If only the curse of lust that Nigel had placed on Leon hadn’t come back, Nigel would probably have been laughing as the perfect victor.
‘Even in this situation, the thought of you enduring the curse of lust is pleasing.’
Leon was certain as he looked at Nigel at the victory banquet. That he was now struggling with the raging curse of lust.
The reddened eyes, the bulging veins, and so on were all too familiar to Leon.
But the reason why that appearance couldn’t be entirely welcome was,
‘The way that bastard looked at Kasha.’
When he recalled that sticky and sinister gaze that didn’t hide his possessiveness towards Kasha, it was hard to hold back the murderous intent that immediately arose.
Nigel was clearly targeting Kasha. Leon’s developed senses were certain.
He himself had once looked at Kasha while caught in lust. When he thought that Nigel felt the same desire he had felt then, the blood rose in reverse and a primal fear rushed in.
Because he knew too well the power of that blind, beastly lust.
It was clear that Nigel would do anything to have her.
‘Before you lay a single finger on Kasha, I’ll kill you.’
The gaze of the holy knight Leon, who was thinking something that could immediately send him to the guillotine if anyone found out, was sharp with barely concealed murderous intent.
His instincts, which had been trapped in responsibility and duty, broke their shackles and sharpened their blade. He felt his blood boiling with a combative emotion he had never felt before in his life.
As if sensing that his instincts had begun to burn blindly toward a single purpose, Kasha twisted her body to look at him.
“Leon?”
“…Ah, yes. What is it?”
“Take me to the Grand Duke’s room.”
“Ah.”
“Since we can’t find Anthony right now, we should at least find the medium of the curse first. Hurry.”
“…Alright.”
Leon got Kasha up first with an unwilling motion, then got himself up. Kasha, who was looking at his expression, reassured him.
“Don’t worry.”
“About what?”
“I’ll take my own revenge on the Grand Duke.”
“……”
“Just because I’m lifting his curse doesn’t mean I’m forgiving him at all. I’m only trying to get the medium of the curse back.”
Leon looked at Kasha with undisguised admiration in his eyes.
She sometimes seemed to see right through him. How had she read his thoughts, worrying about the situation where she would be helping his father?
When he was about to nod his head reluctantly at her sparkling, clever gaze, a chaotic voice came from the courtyard.
“Sir Leon!”
“Where are you? It’s an emergency! His Highness the Grand Duke, His Highness!”
A servant was looking for him. With a bad feeling, Leon and Kasha’s eyes met.
[This is the timeline separator]Clop clop.
Two steeds galloping across the banks of the Pechali River, creating a silvery sheen in the stinging autumn sunlight.
Kasha and Leon, each with their bodies on them, had urgent thoughts entangled in their minds.
‘What? Father’s back?’
‘Yes! The Grand Duke just returned, and he’s….’
The servant who had been looking for Leon in a panic trailed off with a troubled face. When Leon urged him again, he finally revealed the situation in detail.
Bang!
‘No, Your Highness the Grand Duke? How did you suddenly… But what is this?’
The servants who saw the Grand Duke, who had become a beggar, barge into the front door of the Grand Ducal Residence, were shocked.
The Grand Duke, who was disheveled and reeking from clothes he hadn’t changed for days, waved his hand, still covered in jeweled rings, and rushed off somewhere.
The place he opened the door to without hesitation was none other than Leon’s room. Rummaging through Leon’s bathroom and bed, muttering incomprehensible words, the Grand Duke seemed to have found something and headed to Anthony’s room with glee.
The Grand Duke, who similarly turned Anthony’s room upside down, did not budge no matter how much the servants tried to stop him. Rather, he pushed the servants away with tremendous force, injuring several of them.
Although he had the appearance of a madman, the servants could not dare to do anything to the Grand Duke, who was the master of this residence.
The next place the Grand Duke, who had plunged the residence into an atmosphere of terror, headed to was Eve’s room. And what the Grand Duke did to Eve, who opened the door with a startled face, was even more absurd.
‘Kyaak!’
The Grand Duke suddenly grabbed his daughter’s hair.
‘Ah, Father! What are you doing?’
Even though the startled Eve burst into tears, the Grand Duke paid no attention. He expressed joy at the sight of his daughter’s platinum blonde hair in his hand, then immediately jumped up and down the stairs.
Then, before anyone could stop him, he got on a horse and disappeared somewhere.
Before Leon and Kasha, who had heard the servant’s halting explanation, could even be shocked, another guest visited the residence.
‘Uh, Sir Leon….’
‘You are?’
Leon’s face, recognizing the guest, grew even more grave.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
